Good article about our club in the guard ian online. One definitely for Baz who could've wrote it.

Yes Georgey just checked it out upon your recommendation, a good article indeed by Martin Lawrence ;

all points in the article I have previously made including of course the point on my beloved Pablo ;

the only thing Martin Lawrence omitted was any direct focus/ reference to VO himself, with his article stating that Leeds have not bought well and need to be much better in effective recruitment.

yep good article indeed.

The only thing missing from the guardian article was Leeds play in white, it was lazy journalism at best comparing the absence of Pablosque splitting Championship passes with the challenge of the premier league ridiculous.

Palace doing well under Viera thanks in the main to Gallagher, whom Leeds tried very hard to get on loan however, both the player and his agent have gone on record to say the deciding factor for the player was to stay close to home, family in London.

The soaring Eagles currently TWO points ahead of us.

Class How was it lazy? His chief point is we don't have midfield depth. That is a valid opinion in my opinion. Pablo may not have cut it week in week out but would've offered more than we currently muster.

hear hear George

Yes do explain Class

for instance the journalist stated that Pablo's guile and creativity had NOT been replaced. that is indeed a FACT

when Bielsa ( now in hindsight needlessly) jettisoned Pablo, one therefore expected a quality CAM replacement recruited in the summer

instead we seemingly have the gash Roberts (laughably filling in as a Pablo CAM replacement ) ; even Pablo 2 assists in 9 EPL minutes in one EPL game were still more than Roberts managed all season.

It ACTUALLY states his guile and creativity from his championship days is missed. Age and a higher competition prevented Pablo from playing at a higher level, some may argue like for like (international stage included) VO Raphinia replacement is an upgrade.

As to our midfield it’s the exact same midfield that took us to the giddy heights of last yer, which incidentally all our struggles centred around injuries mainly to CB’s.

But when we got everyone back and fit we were flying.

I also recall Baz spending the first quarter of last season demanding posters name six teams worse than Leeds culminating in his support of Bielsa being sacked.

Then when we flew past Villa you rode that victory wave (something the Villa boys called you out on) then proceed to take a charity bet with the Manger at the helm you wanted dismissed.

Groundhog Day!

Class is correct- it is lazy journalism - the headline would suggest all the new players mentioned are mistakes. Yes Koch and Llorente have had a bad time with injuries, but for them to count as mistakes that would need to have been predictable- which they weren’t - in truth both are cases of bad luck rather than bad judgment. His point re Firpo and James is also lazy - saying that they are yet to make an impact - after how many games, and in a Bielsa system - and also not forgetting James should already have been awarded at least two penalties. Yes Rodrigo’s impact has been disappointing - partly because in short bursts of games he’s shown he has the abilities which Bielsa wanted him brought in for. As for missing Pablo, yes he was an absolute legend, but we did very well last season without his contribution for the most part. Yes, probably all on here would have like us to have another CAM this season, but evidently Bielsa believed Tyro would step up this season. Of course, as you’d probably expect me to say, we do already have another player who would seem very capable of stepping in to that position for the first team, but frustratingly he’s currently playing in Spain for UD Ibiza, for whom he is consistently one of the top two performers. How we could have done with him in Southampton, to curl one into the top corner from 40 yards.

Class

I certainly recall riding that victory wave of that exuberating second half of the season tis true Class ; certainly don't recall last season calling for Bielsa to be sacked ( unless I was inebriated at the time)

Sadly this 2nd season the which 6 teams are worse than Leeds question seems even more pertinent but love to be proved wrong.

19 Oct 2021 21:51:11
Cluey Bielsa expected Tyro to step up? 🤣.

19 Oct 2021 23:04:45
Yes George, apparently he did, and he still says Tyro has qualities which he hasn’t yet been able to bring out in games. I guess we’re all hoping that he’s soon given an opportunity to work on bringing out those qualities consistently, on loan in the Championship.

Hmm, the Guardian are lazy, while the Athletic are top quality journos? 🤔 makes sense. Although I am pleased Bogusz is getting some regular game time st last, playing and scoring a couple of goals in the Spanish second division does not a Premier League player make. Bogusz may be ready for that in 2/ 3 seasons, as may our youth prospects but I can't see them saving us this year. Give them regular game time next year, in the Championship should our form continue and if we bounce back we may have the beginnings of a team but not yet. Too early.
