Watching Summerville goal it’s uncanny how much he moves like a young Raheem Sterling, hoping this can be the lads breakthrough season to the first team.

I think Raphinia will go if not this season certainly next for (they’ll say CL football and the chance to win trophies) but also quadrupling his salary and a hefty signing on fee.

Certainly don’t blame Raphinia if he does, the money talks scenario is fully entrenched in the EPL now and Newcastle takeover will only go to strengthen this being the norm, for what we have to be realistic the smaller clubs (financially) such as ours.

Possibly the reason behind Leeds clear intent to grow a very strong youth policy, challenge there is still to be in premier when enough are ready, and hanging on to your new found gems, as they emerge.

Not meant as a criticism of the club if you haven’t got billions behind you then you have to devise a different strategy.

Only time will tell if it worked.

Indeed. I can see both Raph and Philips eating this summer. Philips new contract will open the door for a move but also guarantee we get value whrn it happens a la Grealish. We are relying on the youth to come through for sure- can see Dhacks becoming tge replacement for Philips.

BTW Sterling is still young! Only 26 I think.

Hope they eat before that Alf.
But agree with your thoughts.
If they go. I think we will get 80 mill plus for both of them.

I’d expect more in the region of £120m for both of them. Dunno what kind of contract Raph signed for, but I would also be looking to tie him to a new one!

Lol Aus. I too feel that not eating ’til summer would be taking Bielsa’s weight loss instructions a little too far.

However, having had a grammar pedant as a boss, I can’t help also feeling £80m or so for both of them would be rather on the cheap side. I’m guessing you meant £80m plus for each of them.

Bright - I’d agree we should be looking at a new contract for Raphinha, and am guessing the Club will have this under active consideration. This may possibly have been the case before his Brazil call-ups, but the latter presumably make it a necessity. The talk is of Phillips’ new contract reflecting his England status, and the same should apply with regards to Raphinha and Brazil, both in terms of his wage and any release clause.

Even more haste to get deadwood (you know who you are) off the wage bill.
