I just love FIFA!

Anyone on here up for the suggestion of a World Cup every two years? - no, me neither.

Anyone think it’s a good idea to penalise clubs for not releasing players to play in high c.v. countries?

Etc, etc.

Agree3 Disagree0

Weird idea eh.
FIFA can suspend a player for 5 days cause he chose not to travel to Brazil hotspot.
I think Leeds have resolved that little problem by saying he turned the call up down. Leeds didn’t stop him.

Clu Does that mean should we play Raph on Sunday and Scousers play Firmino both teams lose the match 3-0?

IF JG DOES NOT GET A CHANCE THE NEXT FEW GAMES, IF I WERE HIM I WOULD LOOK AT LEAVING IN JANUARY OR NEXT SUMMER! RIDICULOUS! WHAT ELSE DOES THE LAD HAVE TO DO!

Your guess is as good as mine George. Who knows how the minds of our great footballing authorities will work on this one? Presumably the default setting would be to penalise Leeds and/ or our players as much as possible, whatever they chose
to do to other folk involved.

Aus - it’s to be hoped that Raphinha has had assurances that Brazil will not look unfavourably on him because of his decision when it comes to future call up opportunities.

Clu We should field our under 9s team and ask Kloppy to bring on Firmino in 89th minute.

Not unexpectedly, the Prem clubs are collectively challenging the basis on which Brazilian FA requested the FIFA ruling.

The idea of being dictated to by the Brazilian FA and FIFA on this matter totally sucks, but if the challenge is unsuccessful, and both we and ‘Pool abide by the FIFA decision, we would lose Raphinha, and they’d be without Alisson and Fabinho (with Firminio supposedly injured anyway) .

They can probably replace Fabinho fairly easily, but their back-up for Alisson would appear a significant step down. Could that have a greater negative impact for them than James or Summerville starting would for us, or would we seem more disadvantaged?

{Ed001's Note - you have that completely the wrong way round, Fabinho is the more difficult to replace, the back up for Alisson is Kelleher, who is an excellent young prospect similar to your own keeper. Whereas we don't have a like-for-like player to play in place of Fabinho, which was what caused all the problems last season when Klopp kept playing him in defence and then he got injured. He had to change the way of playing to cover for not having him there, very like you have to without Phillips. Whereas Kelleher is a very similar type to Alisson, so it is just a straight swap, though he is obviously not as good.}

Cheers Ed. My comment re Fabinho was partly tongue in cheek, as you have the multi-talented Henderson (who some pundits and others may still view as significantly superior to the Yorkshire Pirlo) , who can drop into the position. However, despite not replacing Wijnaldum, you have others who could play CM, and the problem last season was surely at least as much due to the lack of senior specialist CBs as it was due to Fabinho not being at DM. This season you have VVD, Matip, Gomez and your new guy Konate.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, we would have been fine at CB if Klopp had trusted Nat Phillips earlier, he was excellent. It was Fabs we missed as the whole way of playing had to change and the full-backs were unable to get forward as much. Though it didn't help that Henderson was out as well to be fair, so we didn't even have our second choice man there. As for Gini, he was a ghost anyway, waste of time after he realised he wasn't going to get his ridiculous wage demands met, he just went into hiding on the pitch.}

Fair dos Ed, I’m happy to concede to your far more expert knowledge of Liverpool.
