Bogusz scored his first goal for UD Ibiza yesterday in the 90th minute of their pre-season 2-0 win v Al-Raed, who finished 10th (out of 16) in the Saudi Professional League last season.

There are three more friendlies before their first Segunda Division game v Zaragoza on 13 August.

The first would seem to be a real step up - against Real Mallorca, who were promoted to the Primera Division last season. The others are against fellow Segunda Division teams, SCR Pena Deportivo and AD Alcorcon

Let’s hope he gets plenty of further opportunity in those games to prove that he’s worthy of early minutes when the season kicks off.

They rarely come back.
Good luck to the lad.
But league 1 at best.
Although bermo and his spurs scouts disagree.
They raved about him and slagged Kal off.
Ohhhh. Ummmm?

Aus - Berm wasn’t the only one on this site to rate Bogusz, and I recall Klich being impressed with the lad - saying Bogusz was better than he had been at the same age.

As I’ve noted on here previously, the coach at UD Ibiza, has a good pedigree, having been long-time no2 to Unai Emery (who is also an admirer of Bielsa’s methods) . and the Club may have been chosen specifically for that reason.

I, for a long while thought the Boguszh (and McCalmont) were the future of Leeds. Maybe I still do and maybe they will.

Over the last few years we have had some real (unpolished) diamonds shine through the U23s but as with many/ all others we try to buy instant success and of course I see why.

I just hope that in some way these young kids find there dreams fulfilled somewhere. Hopefully at Leeds.

Leo - more of the u23s, probably including Bogusz and McCalmont, would have stepped up to the first team last season if we had remained in the Championship. But following promotion, the step up to the first team obviously that much greater, so they need more first team development, at a lower level elsewhere, before they will be ready. In the meantime we clearly needed to recruit quality players to strengthen the first team, and new recruits for the u23 team, and given we are in the Prem and now have a category one academy, we can now attract even better quality youngsters. At some point, Orta and Bielsa may have to decide whether there is space for the older crop and the new recruits. Though, within the next couple of seasons, some of the first team squad, such as Forshaw and Klich may possibly need to move on, so perhaps there will be room for Bogusz and McCalmont too, if they make the grade. With the proper recruitment to the academy it is quite possible that far less direct recruitment to the first team will be necessary.

Orta would correctly seem to be seeking to harness the genius of Bielsa to propel the first team as high as possible in the time we are lucky enough to have him, to help generate the funds to build the infrastructure for sustainable success when he calls it a day, whilst also ensuring the academy teams are stocked up with the talent to feed into the first team in the medium and longer term. Basically we are seeking to buy both instant and long term success - which is not a bad thing.

The video included in this article shows it was a cheeky little chipped finish, which the commentator seemed to enjoy 🎙😍😍😍
