Martinez could be putting himself in the shop window for a move to a bigger club. Saving 3 penalties to put Argentina into the Copa America final is likely to make a few football directors sit up and take notice, and let’s face it, with his form for Villa last season, there’ll have been plenty watching anyway.

One last time. What is the obsession with Villa?

07 Jul 2021 22:58:01
Not obsessed with Villa, just noting an excellent performance by an excellent goal keeper during an open transfer window in which a number of goal keeper moves lamong the bigger hitters may well be triggered by PSGs signing of Donnarumma.

Sneaky peak at villa rumours clue. 😂😂😂😂.

Hmmm very bitter Irish fan Whacky over on Vile Banter over England winning luckily.

Nope, not by me anyway.

Good point clueless there will be plenty sitting up and taking notice, none more so than the morons at the emirates who sanctioned his sale for around 17 million I think it was, got to be worth over 50 at this point.

Couldn’t see villa selling either way, unless of coarse it was a completely ridiculous bid, these owners have big ambitions and he is an integral part of our squad, probably our best bit of business in many a year, that and maginn for 3 million lol another master stroke👌.

Baz, Sterling dived and there’s none more vocal than you about grealish diving, can’t just have morals when it suits ya, England better team for sure but Denmark will feel hard done by, after all defending is also part of the game we love.

Whack - Sterling is certainly not averse to taking a dive, but on this occasion, whilst it looks a dodgy penalty if your looking for a trip caused by contact on his foot/ lower leg, as one of the commentators noted, he was caught on the thigh by one of the defenders, so not actually a dive.

Besides, Kane could arguably have been given a penalty in normal time…. so not that lucky really.

A side point to this post, couldn’t help noticing that Rodrigo De Paul missed his penalty in the shootout- blazed over the bar.

Very minimal contact clue, a thigh rubbing off a thigh shouldn’t decide a game of that magnitude, he was on his way down before the challenge that the defender pulled out of, shrewd play by sterling, it kinda went against how VAR has being used very well throughout the tournament up until last night. kudos to Southgate and England for making the final it’s good for English people in these strange times to have something to cheer about.

VAR will only be used to overturn an on pitch decision if there is cleae evidence to the contrary. There wasn't wasn't the decision stood. The earlier Kane one was the opposite - on field the decision was no peno and the evidence wasn't clear enough to change that decision.
