Sean McGurk is out of contract on June 30, meaning he would be free to join Leeds next week if we are still interested in the 18yr old Wigan midfielder.

We need him and his like to bloster our U23 squad, given that we are going to be against the big boys next season.
Personally I can see Shackleton getting some game time at that level as it doesn't look like he has attained Premiership standard, based on last year's showing, and the first team bench will be hopefully stronger next season. Either that or a Championship loan.

Most sincerely hope that at least one or two of the current U23s will eventually become regulars in Leeds United first team like their predecessors KP and more latterly

I reckon Shackleton will eventually make the first team squad in the Prem and of the other longer-established homegrown crop, Gotts, McCalmont, Cresswell and Huggins at least could also make the grade in due course - it would be great if Leif Davis did too, but it looks like Huggins could be ahead of him for that position. Of the recent external recruits Drameh, Somerville, Gelhardt and Greenwood have a decent chance of doing so. It will be interesting to see what happens with Nohan Kenneh this season, whether kept in u23s or loaned out - much was expected of him when signed, and it’s easy to forget he is still only 18.
