Just in case Vile Dave, Whacky Backy and fellow Vile fans are still snooping around after yesterday’s banter below, here’s how I see it.

We Leeds fans are absolutely loving our re-emergence as a force in the Prem, and the prospect of challenging for and then within European football. We are also enjoying the unexpected current status of favourite second team among many other fans and pundits. Equally we relish our usual status as most reviled team/ rival. Whatever way we are viewed, loved or loathed, everybody always really wants to beat Leeds.

On the other hand no-one, other than Vile fans (and I guess fans of your city rivals) really cares about your club - I guess you could be seen as Aston Vanilla - rather bland/ middle of the road. Your list of celebrity fans is topped by HRH Prince William and another Vile Dave (David Cameron) , and includes other establishment figures such as former head of the CBI Sir Digby Jones and Mervyn King former Governor of the Bank of England.

Researchers in the States have found that support for Leeds globally, particularly among the apparently much prized Generation Z, is growing significantly faster than for other recently promoted teams - which will include your beloved Vanilla. This will be building on our significantly underestimated existing global fan base. New fans are being drawn to us by our compelling style of football under the genius Bielsa, and will be drawn further in by our equally compelling history, including the widely acknowledged fact that we were twice cheated by bent referees on the European stage. and our resultant anti-establishment status, which has been further fed by the fairly constant battles we’ve faced with footballing authorities. For most it will become an enduring love affair.

Conversely, while new fans outside Birmingham may be drawn to Vanilla by any fleeting success you may have, most will probably soon give you up for the latest flavour of the day.

Here’s an interesting stat, Aston vanilla as u call us, 109 seasons spent in the top flight of English football, second on the all time list only behind Everton, Leeds united 52 seasons in the top flight 😂😂😂 so I ask how long till your relegated once again. you can grow all you want in the states or be everyone’s favourite second team but people generally don’t buy jerseys and support the club financially, your right to enjoy the resurgence mate cause as history shows you’ll be back down in a few years 🤭.

And 4th on all time PL loss table.
Lost more PL games than you have won!

08 Jun 2021 11:10:45
And again another notorious ' Disingenuous Whacky Backy 'and Vile Dave posts that are as always simply dishonest 🙄

Whack you surpassed yourself with your latest disingenuous comparison: of number of seasons in the top flight

because Leeds United founded in 1919 are 45 years younger than the Vile founded in 1874.

Furthermore Whack you do realise the Vile are REGULARS at getting relegated they have been relegated a whopping SIX times lol 😂 found that one absolutely hilarious 😃

1936,1959 1967,1987,2016 to Div 2
1970 to. Div 3

Source Wikipedia ok Whack 😃

And my all time favourite Vile stat 1911 to 2021 one top flight league trophy 😜

So 110 years of Vile being sh1t/ mediocre in the League 😃😜

Congrats Whack 😜.

Indeed Canada the Vile have laughably lost well over a 100 EPL games than they have won.

I akso think most supporters only value stats and trophies won during their lifetime.

Oh dear Whacky, you’re missing my point. You suggested we should enjoy our success, and I’m merely confirming to you that we are doing so, but also that we revel in the fact that whatever our status in the football pyramid, fans of other clubs still have a strong feeling about us, usually revulsion, which is fine by us. Ask any non-Vanilla fan who doesn’t live in Birmingham about your club and they’ll probably just shrug with indifference. Football isn’t just about stats, it’s about passion for your team, and perhaps about other teams, rivals or not. Currently most Leeds fans have a feeling of distain for Vanilla, due largely to the thuggery shown by your players at Elland Road three seasons ago. Leeds played to the whistle, and your lot kicked off big time. Bielsa instructed our players to allow you to equalise - which other team would have done that? - yes, none, And yet Grealish and Hourihane still saw fit to confront and hit Klich after the whistle. In a few seasons time we will probably have reverted to indifference toward you, like all other non-Birmingham fans.

Our last relegation was due solely to financial incompetence by Ridsdale, overpaying for players we didn’t really need, and we will not be making mistakes like that again. It is Vanilla who have been writing the blank cheques of late. Had you not sneaked up two years ago you would have been in financial meltdown. Your first season back you splashed the cash again yet only stayed up due to the Blades ghost goal. We spent very judiciously last season and finished above you. This summer you’ve already overpaid for Buendia, and may well overpay for other players too in a desperate bid to prevent another downward slide.

Radrizzani and the 49ers will ensure our development on and off the pitch is sustainable. You suggest that our current rapid growth in support won’t help us financially. In case you didn’t know, Generation Z is one of the most sought after demographics for commercial purposes, so rapidly growing support in this grouping will increase the club’s attractiveness to potential sponsors globally, as well as individually boosting shirt sales. Our Club is taking a number of steps to further accelerate growth in support in the Far East and elsewhere - and yes, that will generate shirt sales. As I said previously, once our compelling football draws new supporters in the Leeds family’s story and the us against the world mentality it engenders is likely to become imprinted on their emotional DNA, so they’re more likely to stick with us even in the unlikely event that we get relegated at some point in the future.

Finally, turning to your interesting stats - 27 of your years in the ‘top flight’ were before Leeds United’s formation, so can be discounted for comparative purposes. Getting on to what you’ve actually done with your additional years in the top flight, your league glory years are very much before WW1, and before Leeds came into being. Since which point you’ve won the league only once (being in the top 3 on five occasions) , whereas we’ve won 3 times and been top 10 10 times.

Actually your just hanging on in there existence within the top flight is very much part of your ‘Vanilla’ characteristic. While we were away from the top flight for those 16 years your only ‘achievement’ was to jointly win the Intertoto Cup in 2008/ 09. That says it all really. Not exactly the stuff to stir the passions of potential new supporters/ shirt buyers.

It really is time you stopped trying to bait them though Baz.
I know I dislike Vile (a recent development based on the clubs actions over the last few years) but you are on a different level!

08 Jun 2021 13:13:09
Can’t see why you all bite, ignore it and it will get bored and leave.

08 Jun 2021 13:22:11
Oh my Class very insightful posts that will go way over the head of the vast majority of ( dim and deluded ) Vile fans 😂

Canada my dislike and disdain of Vile stems from the same development.

08 Jun 2021 14:17:57
Ok so out of your 95 (there or there abouts) seasons of football you spent 43 of them outside the top league, therefore probably easier to win games playing against non elite teams, in that time you won 5 trophies, 7 if u count charity shields, in that time we’ve won 10 and 13 if u count the Mickey Mouse charity shield and intertoto cups.
it don’t matter which way u spin it you have being less successful than us and I’m not trying to insult anyone that’s just facts, the history books don’t lie,
And yes I remember that thuggery, same time bamford threw himself on the ground because of a ghost slap from a villa player, then to be punished for it afterwards with our player exonerated, not a great example of how your players were better people than our lads in all honesty.

08 Jun 2021 14:44:11
Maybe leave this one now eh lads?

08 Jun 2021 15:54:12
Oh dear, Whacky one. My principal point is that, despite your historic successes, no-one other than your own fans and those of your city rivals really give a toss about your bland Vanilla team club. Why don’t you toddle off to some other club’s fan forum in search of someone who might be bothered to consider your lot as rivals.

08 Jun 2021 18:24:37
Mate if you read back the threads we were all having grown up conversation until bitter baz started with the childish stuff, beforehand we were talking about transfers, progression you know adult kinda stuff, I didn’t pop round to go over the same stuff as last year, I have said on numerous occasions I don’t see much difference between our clubs and if fact lots of similarities.

09 Jun 2021 09:23:48
Whackattack 100% agreed mate how did he get passed the ED when others can’t,

09 Jun 2021 09:25:45
Whackattack Leeds have won 9 in my history with the charity shields how many have Villa won in your history?
