Read somewhere the other day about bielsa waiting to sign a new contract come end of the season. If I’m a possible new player I’m waiting to see if he signs or not and if he doesn’t who takes his place. I think it’s hampering our transfers with any potential new signings right now.

This has always been Mr Bielsa's way, he is a man of morals and principle and does not believe he should be rewarded until the job is done. Also he negotiates the salaries for his staff within his own package so it is always more complicated. The situation was identical last season and the transfer window was huge for us as we were promoted to the Premier League, I would suggest that was as good a transfer window as we have ever had, not just for the first team but also the youth so to suggest Bielsa is in some way hampering any signings this summer is, in my humble opinion, utter piffle. Up the Whites, down the pints siblings.

If you agree that one of the reasons a player signs for us is the chance to work for Marcelo Bielsa then any grain of doubt over the big mans destination next year may affect certain targets.

So if for example we really are after de Paul, would de Paul agree to sign for us knowing we might end up with heckinbottom as our next manager if bielsa chooses to leave.
It’s the uncertainty and last window was brilliant but how many of our 1st choices did we get? I don’t know the answer.
I personally wouldn’t sign for a club and in particular a club in mid table if I thought bielsa wouldn’t be the manager. Mid table clubs attract mid table players. BIESLA attracts quality players but as above if he hasn’t committed how many players will.

I don’t imagine on day 1 of the windows teams start bidding on players. They’ve usually lined their targets and know who’s coming.

I think the point is more that Bielsa will give Radz and co his word he will stay way before he actually puts pen to paper. The board will already know if he is staying or not and the paperwork is a formality. Thus meaning I’d guess the none transfer window signings and negotiations for summer moves can take place with that in mind.
Unfortunately the papers have a habit of adding 2+2 and getting 37.5 and print fabrication to fill pages. Thankfully most fans don’t buy in to the media bull doo doo and see it for what it is.

Loveawaydays Your post overbrimming with illogic. Bielsa won't take long to consider an extension due to the very notion you refer to. Why do you think a man of his intellect and integrity would do otherwise? Due to his highly principled albeit slight eccentric character, there'll be a gentleman agreement for him to decide once and for all by a particular deadline. My guess is that shall be by mid June. Plenty of time for inward transfers of quality.

Any agent worth their salt would know how Bielsa operates, and should be able to read the mood music around the club - which most sensible pundits appear to believe indicates Bielsa is far more likely to sign than not, barring any totally left-field disagreement between him and the club’s owners and directors.
As I’ve said previously, what might make a difference for some players attracted to working with Bielsa would be if he were to commit for more than one year, though we all know that unfortunately that’s not very likely.
