Haven't been very excited by international tournaments since the excitement and fabulous atmosphere of England hosting the Euros in 1996.
Aside from perhaps the World Cup in Russia which was a decent tournament with England flattering to deceive
Do any of the Leeds Banter posters think England can actually ( cough cough ) win the Euros under the dull, uninspiring Gareth Southgate's England teams?
It's like watching dull functional Vile his former teamm.

Nope unfortunately not Baz,
And we’ve obviously got another great generation of players on our hands, but sadly think we will fall short once again I fear on mentality.
Really do not have the answer either, but based upon our own success at Leeds think we need a foreign coach, a rather sad appraisal but but if we were to face, Belgium, Portugal, France, even Spain I don’t see us winning under our thoroughly nice manager in Southgate.

It was so slow.
The lack of movement up front was terrible and it seemed like only KP and Sterling understood how a 1 touch pass can create space.

On recent evidence, not a cat in hell's chance Baz. They need an experienced manager to go in and shake them up. Play at a tempo that strikes fear into their hearts. In fact (and keep this very very quiet) they need The Big Man.
If anyone dares try; the Stop The Bill protests will look like a WI meeting compared.

Since 1998we have tried to play a game which is not our own and we cannot do it. Unless we go back to playing English style we will continue to fail. Southgate is a nice guy but his tactics will not see England succeed in any tournament.

After fat sam I believe they went for the safe choice in Southgate for his niceness and lack of chequered history. It’s boring football from a boring manager and as above comments say, no chance at all.

England do not possess the winning mentality to win the WC or EC and I don’t think that will ever change except maybe if there is a manager who is appointed who is totally left field and doesn’t pander or bow to the old farts at the FA. We only compete we don’t know how to win a tournament. Southgate is a nice bloke but he is also a loser. The only English manager I can think of who would have won us the World Cup since Sir Alf would have been Brian Clough.

Southgate has an abundance of attacking talent, but plays 2 DM v Albania.
