How highly ( or not ) do you rate Director of Football Mr Victor Orta?
He is an extremely likeable guy with tremendous vocal passion and enthusiasm for Leeds United not least during Leeds matches with his binoculars impression at the Derby game when we were confirmed League Champions absolutely fabulous 🤣
For me though he is fairly hit and miss in his transfers
Big plusses signings of Bielsa, Raphinia, Bamford Meslier Harrison Klich
Positives: some promising U23s signings like Cody Drameh Summerville, Geldhart, Greenwood etc
Considerable Minuses : the unwise signings of (so many) sicknote players with injury records who have contributed very little to our season at great financial expense in transfers and salaries. This has been putting a considerable strain on our lack of depth squad.
Big negatives : the loan of JKA and some other loans and of course the likes of Kiko, Lauren De Bock etc.

In regards transfers I'd say poor, more misses than hits
Look at the model that is Leicester, sell players but recruit really well, probably could through Brentford aswell, even though they are championship, some great scouting done

horrendous transfer record, which seems more like a scatter gun appraoch to any actual insights.
Wasted a lot of money on players like JKA, Casilla and Costa (and Rodrigo so far but he might adapt) , most of the youth he has signed either haven't made it, weren't even cheap, or both.
Raphinha and Messlier the only good players he has signed, the rest of whom you mention ahve only become as good as they are due to a heck of a lot of work put in by Bielsa.
However, he did recommend and do the deal for Bielsa so he has brought a few good things.
I think we could do a lot better in terms of having a scout who can actually spot talent, snap it up for a reduced sum and improve the squad. Needs around 10 signings to find a good one.

Personally I think Rodrigo has been good. Getting better and will be a really good and versatile player. Can’t see what all the negativity is about him. Before his injury he was creating some great opportunities with some quality passing and vision. He’s not a prolific no 9 type and probably wouldn’t be with us if he was. Good signing for me!

Always been a fan of Orta
Was highly rated at borough and were they were with him to now without him. Also Barcelona were after him which days a lot
Some loans ain’t been great but belisa takes so months to play a guy and if loan is all in the budget what can belisa and Orta do?
Some young signings have been amazing look at under 23s and lots of great first team signings as well
Raph Meslier alone make Orta good for me let alone Klich and some of the others
On a budget overall Orta is a success.

No Ed I completely agree and see what you are saying however in the rumour mill etc it’s still not a bad club to be associated with and to a slight degree is a sign of decent work and reputation in the game.
