I do think it's crazy at least not try to loan some bench competition. Even without a to buy clause.
We could really do with a loan for cm or striker. Just for last 30 min of a game if need be.

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe we just can't afford the wages?
Plus if its someone that is available to buy in summer and they do really well wouldn't that just increase the price and the competition?

Maybe nobody was expecting match sales to be missing for so long.

France supposedly having a fire sale of players due to c.v. and french tv money dropping but I don’t see many buying clubs at the moment anywhere round the world.

It’s an interesting one isn’t it, I believe every one of us on here would not say no to the loan signing at least.

Aside from the fact that January window is supposedly of poor value, quality, but for those teams outside the top six it’s that what if scenario isn’t it, if you do nothing and are subsequently relegated the impact far exceeds any monies spent in the window.

It’s stick or twist time, Palace have twist with £3.5 million loan fee with option to buy on their new striker.

I agree it should be a CM or CF but only if they’re going to add goals.

CM doesn't necessarily have to add goals directly for me, being able to control the midfield more effectively will allow others to score and make chances whereas we are overrun too frequently in there at the moment for me.

As a left field option. is Milner getting much game time at Liverpool these days?

(Its not a rhetorical question, I don't know, I having been watching them avidly, I just know they had 2 centre backs out the other day and used 2 central midfielder in their place and still no Milner in the midfield.

Even if we paid his wages just for 20 weeks wouldn't we be ensuring the central midfield area has decent completion.
The reason I mention the old chestnut of Milner is because he was Bielsa-fit before most of us knew who Bielsa was, and he consistently outperforms his Liverpool colleagues in fitness test even now.

I realise that many on here will see it as a backward step but I just want us to secure our future in the PL and I think we can all agree that this 35yo won't be coming to Elland Road for a last pension pot, this guy will increase the determination and hopefully inspire those around him.

Milner and Henandez, destroying the youngster in training. can you not envision how hard those youngsters are going to work to beat the 'old guys'.

Not bad shout.
If no game time at pool.
Bring him home.
Two years and he will have a coaching role.

Milner is in £140,000 a week till July 2022; move on.

22 Jan 2021 14:21:51
You think Milan plays for money?
Best offer buys him?
You think he has no heart?

22 Jan 2021 14:40:55
Yeah Aus I do
Be amazed if he doesn't see out the remainder of his contract; no other club is going to pay him anywhere near this figure tol then

'Best offer buys him' . so there would be a transfer fee as well . dream on fellow.

22 Jan 2021 17:44:20
BV. it was only a pipe dream

20 weeks at £120,000, not £140,000 as you stated, makes it £2.4m. To give us a greater level of insurance against relegation, and the chance to amass another £170m of Premiership money, I thought the finances worked out ok. But I bow to a superior mind than mine.

22 Jan 2021 19:44:55
Yes it sounds good in theory Axe.
Total outlay may approach £ 5 million as there would probably be a loan fee of £1.5 to £2 million to pay too as I doubt that Liverpool would ever loan him for free.
According to all the websites I perused Milner is on £7.28 million £140 000 a week.
Worth a punt but he is on Liverpool's subs bench, playing occasionally.

As I said though can't see it happening : a ' pipedream' indeed.
