Having had the night to sleep on my disappointment at the score line , I feel that in a way that result and performance puts our prospects and expectations for the season into more realistic perspective, which is no bad thing in some ways . May be it's my nature but I will spend most of this season looking down rather than up and I will take the six point gap after five games from the dross in the relegation zone .
I thought we were excellent in the first half, won every duel and bombed forward without creating any real clear cut chances . We obviously lost control after the break and thought Bielsa could have made some changes a little earlier . Nonetheless, there were positives.
We never looked particularly vulnerable to their incisive counter attacking play other than the very unfortunate goal and this despite committing lots of players forward . Even with their goal on the break I counted 8 players had got back by the time Jimenez got his shot away . Koch was supreme and Meslier looked like only a wicked deflection would beat him on the night .
Our old championship failings were evident in just not being clinical enough in the final third . But for once Bamford had no clear cut chances to miss, although you could perhaps have wanted more from him and certainly Rodrigo in the build up play . I also thought other than the first 15 minutes from Costa, our wingers were not threatening enough .
As Baz has said we may well rue not signing a potent finisher, which is why I was unconvinced by the choice of Rodrigo in the window . However, I'm not sure a potent finisher would have made the difference last night as we never created a clear cut chance against admittedly a supremely marshalled defence . I would be tempted to start Pablo for Rodrigo on Friday but suspect MB will keep the same team barring injuries .

Agree missing a out right striker, bam bam has been good a runs his heart out but we need a sniffer cost us last night still it is what it is can’t win them all.
