Overall quite happy. Thought, Meslier did well. Hopefully this game would have been a sharp learning curve for Koch and Rodrigo. They need to be on top form and concentrating for 90+ minutes. I am quietly confident with the rest of the season based on this showing. We do, however, need quality additions. If nothing else but to enlarge the squad for a full and gruelling season.

This is the EPL with no weak teams ( this season) a larger squad of quality is vital

Bit early to judge Koch he only met his teammates in training on Monday, give him time to settle in.

In a weird way, the injury to liam has now indefinably rammed in main stage centre front of Andrea, our beloved team needs strengthening, 1 injury and the spine of our defence had to rely on a makeshift partnership,
I am incredibly proud of the boys but we cannot. and will not perform like this continually throughout this season, we got 2 we need another 3 and Radz needs to spend a big ball of cash on players,

thought he played well all things consider, quick, big, good in the air. Was very unlucky with pen and losing van dyke for 2nd goal was his fault but he was blocked.

White had a full 6 weeks Bielsa training, Koch has had less than a handful of days. He will do fine.
Struijk also did well and we have to consider we were up against as good an attacking 3 as there is in the WORLD.
We played our best last season went teams wanted to play and struggled when teams sat back. I think more will have a go at us this year than last so I expect we will do well.

{Ed025's Note - you are very attractive to watch bermondsey but i dont think that style is sustainable in the premier league, dont get me wrong its very pleasing on the eye but your defensive frailties mean you will have to score a hell of a lot of goals to win matches mate, im not one to rain on anyones parade and i know leeds have a couple of new faces and without much of a pre-seson its difficult...but that defence needs tightning up if you are to have a successful season, you deserve to be in the top tier and i love your manager but you cant ship goals like you did today, best of luck though as you are a breath of fresh air to this league..

{Ed025's Note - it was not meant to be danum i can assure you, its just that i have seen the likes of blackpool, fulham and norwich come to the premiership and try the "we will score more than you" route mate and it seldom works, leeds are a breath of fresh air and i love the bielsa footballing ethos but for me you give the ball away too cheaply and i just dont think its sustainable mate, listen its great to watch and i wish you all the best but liverpool had a defensive nightmare yesterday but thats not likely to happen every week mate..

Unfair Ed025 to judge a defence that has never played together as not good enough. Struijk has played a handful of minutes in that position and Koch has been in the country less than a handful of days.
They also played one of the 2 best offences in the league so I don't think they will let in as many too often.
A lot of room for improvement for sure but too early to judge.
{Ed025's Note - i get that canada and stated as much in my reply, the thing is that you cant give the ball away that often against teams of that quality and not get hurt, yes its great to watch and im a big bielsa fan but you wont get teams defending like liverpool did last night every week mate..

Ed025 Excellent evaluation. I've never seen Bielsa get that mad on the touchline and it seemed weird when he had to congratulate Klopp and receive his commiserations. I think we will be fine in the end. Not every team will be as good and clinical as Scousers.
{Ed025's Note - im sure everyone was impressed with leeds george and i must say its great to watch, tighten up defenively a bit and dont give the ball away so cheaply and i think you will have a stellar season mate..good luck..

Absolutely tanked last night but loved every minute of it. Ex said why were you making so much noise at 1am.
Liverpool manager and team are class. The 3rd best team in The world I reckon.
So we gave you a good game. Could of been 5-0 or 5-5

Both teams were rusty Ed as it’s the first game and teams will get better including us.
{Ed025's Note - i hope your right martyn, offensively you are excellent but for me your ball retention needs to improve and it needs to be a bit tighter at the back, but as you say its early days and hopefully as they gel a bit better the defence will improve, one things for sure its not going to be boring under marco mate..

Ed I could not agree more and excellent assessment
watched the game again this morning and I know i'm going to get slaughtered but I think the game massively flattered us
liverpool were useless at the back, although that said we were amazing going forward so a few teams could look useless again us in defence
but we scored 100% of our shots. that just won't happen every week, Bamford (who I have a bet on to score more than 15 goals because I think he will do better in prem than championship) will not 1 in 2 every week
we will have some off weeks (all teams do) . so that made us look good. which we are good. very good but still think it could be flattering
now the worries. liverpool didn't score four great goals because they are Liverpool. they scored four high balls. because we are Leeds. every team can score a high ball. that is a worry. I can see Burnley or sheff Utd scoring 10 against us based on last nights show.
and many are saying Cooper is the answer. sorry we are stronger without him. let's be honest he is useless in the air and all goals where high balls so he ain't helping at all
we didn't keep the ball well enough, but liverpool high press made that harder. we won't have that every week so will improve. but every team will attack us and won't be long before high balls are targeted against us. be such a shame if this great footballing team has a relegation fight. due to set plays and crosses.
{Ed025's Note - hopefully it wont come to that bermo, im talking about a couple of tweaks defensively and maybe someone sitting in front of the back 4, the second phase from crosses seen liverpool get lots of chances and i think that needs to be addressed, but overall i was very impressed with the workrate and when the new guys are integrated more im sure the defensive frailties will be sorted mate..

answer for Leeds drop Phillips for stuijk or put Phillips in Pablos place. phillips as dm will leave us too vulnerable all season. but hey what do I know?
