On paper at least Fulham's next four games are a nightmare compared to ours. On a less positive note, Bams stats are the worst in the Championship. Overall though, whilst I wish we had an out n out striker, I feel generally optimistic.

Can't and won't agree to this. I do not consider such to be in the interests of the club and fans. I'm more than content with our goalkeepers, defence and midfield. It's up to you know who to sort out his flagging fortunes in front of goal. It's not encouragement he needs nor motivation, it's practice. I expect and demand he practices until he gets it right. Much rides on it. I want promotion in 2 months. It's not just us fans but the city and all of football who want us back where we belong. Time to step up and take what's ours. 💙💛.

Can not wait for Charlton game when we play our last match in the championship. Brentford will get hammered in March and Fulham will not get 6 more points than us. Forest will blow up cause that's what they do. No longer quietly confident just confident. Us and Brom i reckon.

Bang on George.

27 Feb 2020 22:18:55
Post of the year so far George.

27 Feb 2020 23:21:17
George - 7do you honestly believe that BamBam doesn't practice shooting from all angles/ distances, left, right, headed etc etc. Of course he does, and I'd hazard a guess that a good proportion of them fly into the net - with a few 'worldies' like the volley that led Bielsa to run across to give him a hug.

It's the pressure of the match situation which probably makes the difference - particularly with the additional expectations placed upon him as the main man up front - despite his protestations that he relishes the prospect. I also dare say that if everyone else was regularly weighing in with goals and we were scoring the three or four goals a match which our approach play and chance creation merit, BamBam would be scoring much more regularly, as he would feel far less pressure specifically on him to score.

Whilst I certainly empathise with Georgie's sentiments and frustrations in his post . Clueless your post. and points are the ones that are bang on.

BamBam just needs to relax

Scoring is a reflex action when you get to this stage. The hard work is done.

He’s too tense

This is in his head. Someone get him to yoga.

Not sure how you could replicate the matchday pressure in practice.

Perhaps try could have system of weekly bonuses. So perhaps for example all outfield players in the first team squad except BamBam and JKA could be eligible for a bonus of maybe 2% if say 50% of their shots in practice were successful, but they would only receive the bonus if the two strikers were equally successful. For the goalkeepers, rather nd the goalkeepers would receive a bonus if they saved say 70% of those shots on target. It would probably be possible to game such a system, but I guess it could be made clear that if the coaches believed gaming was going on, all bonuses paid to date would be recouped.

I'm sure someone in Bielsa's staff could come up with a more refined system, but whatever was used could be used in the various age groups too, to promote greater efficiency generally, while ensuring that even in practice additional pressure would be on the strikers to deliver the reward their teammates' endeavours merited.

Guess 2% each week would not be a huge amount of money therefore not so much pressure, so perhaps the pressure could be increased slightly by not paying out each week but rather putting any money due to each player into a pot to be paid to them at the end of the season, but any week one or more of the strikers failed to get the required percentage success, all pots would return to zero.

clueless not sure about football but in theatre we have similar in that rehearsals like training matches can't replicate shows with an audience in them.

Professionals just have to deal with it, practice and praictie and have confidence in themselves.

I just did a show where the director who is like the manager distoryed an actors condifence, I had to build him back up to make sure he got through the show (and he did really well)

i have slated belisa and I think like our director he distroys players confidence and don't build them up like a venrbles, redknapp or mourino does.

Bamford when he took that pen looked deviod of confidence and that for me is part down to the gaffer, let's be honest all of our players look jittery

then look over belisa whole career, putting the ball in the net has been a long term problem depsite creating chances

maybe the problem lies not in the practice but in the mentallity?

Of course, as Other Woody suggests, the alternative approach is some kind of therapy to enable Bambam to develop an inner calm and tune out matchday pressures.

28 Feb 2020 11:14:11
Berm - how exactly do you believe Bielsa is destroying Bambam's confidence. Do you feel that by standing by him and continuing to pick him to start he is exposing him to a possible downward spiral of further pressure and consequent failure?

28 Feb 2020 12:41:13
Berm - if you look back over Bielsa's career you read and hear a lot of football journalists etc talking about how he has developed and improved players, with quite a number players also coming out saying the same about their own positive experiences with him as a coach. Yes there are a some desenting voices, but these seem few and far between. This hardly suggests a track record of destroying player confidence.

BW . you state Mourinho is a manager who builds up players confidence . really ?
