Lots of players in our league who I think would be good at Leeds. Wallace at Millwall, grant at hudds, eze at qpr, I like lolley at forest too. Prob just Loan 1 or 2 tho. Anyone got any good shouts who could help us secure top 2? Also, was close game today but these types of wins are the ones that get you up, especially with Phillips n coops out.

Pity we can't find the £17m for a cheeky go at the reported January buyout for young Haaland. With him on board we would have no worries about sticking around in the EFL and consequent FFP sanctions. Obviously others would come in with bigger bids and we'd need to rely on his heart ruling his head.

Marginally more realistically, if we can beat Hull on Tuesday and more or less maintain that 17 point gap between us, I'd like us to have a go at Bowen - again, sod FFP.

But in the real world, I'd back your Eze call, or as someone yesterday said, Bacuna could do a job for us.

Bowen, Eze, and Gayle or is that being greedy. Bowen out of contract in July so got to be worth a bid in January.

As much as I rate Bowen I just can't see him leaving Hull in January. As you say Mezzer, his contract is up at the end of this season. At that time he will have many more suitors and everyone's salary budgets are bigger at that stage.

Personally I believe we need to bring in another striker, because once January has gone we can't sign anyone should either Bamford or Neketha be injured. I know we run the risk of paying for a third striker that never gets game time but with our long term objective in mind, I think it would be an acceptable risk.
I appreciate we have Edmondson waiting in the wings and banging them in for the U23s but throwing him in to a promotion run-in and expecting him to fire the goals to win us promotion isn't the sensible way to manage the lads career.

Further to a forward, I believe we need a reasonably tall and able centre back. I think Struick and Casey are the future, but neither Beradi or Ayling give us that height advantage when they cover the cb area. In fact, out of the 2 positions I have highlighted, centre back is the position I would prefer us to spend big on and possibly look to buy a player who is Premier League capable.
If/ when we get to the PL I think this is the area we are least ready in. I definitely think we have a chance of bidding for White on a permanent basis should we get the PL finances but alongside him I think Cooper is becoming too injury prone to be a reliable partner. We are in a great position now to attract some decent talent with a great career path

Once we get in to the PL our range of striker talent options will be exponentially improved.

The midfield/ winger options we already have are already Premiership standard (note how well those midfield of Aston Villa and Sheffield United are failing in the PL now) so we can drip feed our U23s in to that area.

Bacuna looked useful yesterday. Wished I had seen more of him to make an informed decision but worth a shout?

millwall have two centre backs that would be amazing at leeds.

was interesting watching korna and bonne doing ok in the championship after seeing them at oreint. the other good player they have was england c's marvin epkatata who is a big powerful ball playing centreback who could also make the step up.

Berm - of the two first choice CBs at 'wall, stats on the club's website would suggest Jake Cooper would be the better option - taller and more of a threat in the opposition area, though his shot accuracy clearly needs work - and crucially for Bielsaball, his pass completion is significantly better (80% for passes within own half over 20 matches this season is not to be sniffed at. He's also younger, which though possibly blocking the way for u23 progression this season, could help next season in the likely event that White does not remain here. Given Cooper seems now to be an injury waiting to happen, there would probably still be a chance for some U23 involvement with the first team squad. His contract seems to be up next summer, so he could be available.

Axe, if there is any truth to QSI rumours it may be possible to offer Bowen a contract structure and vision sufficient to entice him to join us, with the possibility of becoming an almost instant ER hero and maybe sufficiently established by the end of the season to become an important part of the project going forward, rather than take a chance of trying to make a pre-season impact or becoming a bit-part player at the highest bidding club next summer.

I guess the true test of whether we should bid for Bowen, as with any potential new signings, would be exactly where he might play and whether Bielsa would feel that he could give him sufficient playing time this season to keep him happy without disrupting the spirit of the existing squad.

Clueless

I understand your ideas regarding QSI input. But just taking things in the present time, without QSI, I just think a soare CF and a very good CB is what we need.

Axe - not saying Bowen would be the right call, just that we could conceivably get him if the club really wanted to do so - perhaps if Bielsa felt he could readily be converted into a CF. Agree entirely that a good CF and decent replacement for Bera as CB should be the priorities.
