Bermo you do a terrible disservice to Revie's team . They were one of the best club sides the country had ever seen. Many top managers copied the template. They were at the top of European football for 15 years or there abouts. Wilko did a great job but not at the same level. Also we were the best side the year Wilko won the league, because the table proves it.

Agree2 Disagree0

it is comparitive. revies team was far better but what was the better achivement. wilkos team winning a league they had no right to win. or reivies team winning far less than it should of

i love revies team, love the video clips, the players are my heroes but i do honestly think ulitmatly they under achieved and should of won far more than what they did. They should of won many leagues and cups and they didn't which i think must be seen as dissapointing

we was not the best team the year we won the league, wilko, speed, stachan and gary mac have all said so, they said we won a league we had no right to win. that is because we overacieved and i love that more than anything

like when denmark and greece won the european championships they had no right to but did the best they could while i have seen many a great brazil and argentina side dissapoint and do far worse than they should of

when i speak or revies team it is with respect but dissapointment they didn't win more

when i speak of wilkos team it is great respect and proud that we did better than we should of

man city should win everything when they get turned over by norwich i think it is amazing. all david and golutha stuff.

Acivement real achievement is not always about winning it is about doing the best you can do. sadly leeds as a club in 100 years very rarley have done the best they could do, they certainly didn't under revie but i think they did under wilko.

22 Sep 2019 19:46:34
again they are one of the best club sides europe have ever seen i agree. so why did they win so little. your post kind of makes my point for me.

22 Sep 2019 20:24:20
Current Leeds team is over achieving thanks to Bielsa. Look how we did before he arrived with a large proportion if same players.

22 Sep 2019 20:41:20
Canada think you have a valid point but Bielsa has improved them individually and more as a team, I can see that. weekend
Bermo the best team over the course of the season wins the league not the second best team . That's what upset Rednose so much. That's why everyone is disappointed about dropping points this weekend.

Well said 70!

Sorry BW you are wrong about the Revie era we did not underachieve we over achieved if anything, we were in the finals or semis of two cup s and battling at the top of the table every year. Revie took and average league two side and turned them into world beaters. Big european teams were bribing refs to beat us, that's how corrupt the game was back then. Yes would have been nice to have more silverware to show for it but what that group of lads did for the city of Leeds was unbelievable. Wilkos barmy army was nothing to the following that Revies lads had/ It was one big family that looked after each other. No driving round in 300,000 grand cars and hiding behind 10 foot gates back then. Suppose you had to be there and experience it to understand but there was not a household in Leeds who did not know the score on a Saturday afternoon. We did not beat teams we humiliated them. The team unity is coming back thanks to Bubs and the fans will always be there but it will take something special to get the whole city behind us again.

Bielsa bud, great post! I think that is what is exciting about what is happening at the moment, we are building something that is starting to feel special again. Long way to go before this team can ever be compared with the greats of the past but there is a growing buzz in the city, consistent support at home games, growing interest in the under 23s, kids buying Leeds shirts instead of Man City or Liverpool. All of that matters. Of course it’s result dependent and needs to be nurtured but it feels good!

sorry Bud but i am not wrong. everyone knows sport is measured in silverware and that team for it's talent desperately underachieved:

"fergouson- Premier League: 1992–93, 1993–94, 1995–96, 1996–97, 1998–99, 1999–2000, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11, 2012–13[267]
FA Cup: 1989–90, 1993–94, 1995–96, 1998–99, 2003–04[268]
Football League Cup: 1991–92, 2005–06, 2008–09, 2009–10[268]
FA Charity/ Community Shield: 1990 (shared) , 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011[268]
UEFA Champions League: 1998–99, 2007–08[268]
European Cup Winners' Cup: 1990–91[268]
European Super Cup: 1991[268]
Intercontinental Cup: 1999[268]
FIFA Club World Cup: 2008[268]

shankly- Football League First Division: 1963–64, 1965–66, 1972–73
Football League Second Division: 1961–62
FA Cup: 1964–65, 1973–74
FA Charity Shield: 1964, 1965, 1966
UEFA Cup: 1972

busby- First Division (5) : 1951–52, 1955–56, 1956–57, 1964–65, 1966–67
FA Cup (2) : 1947–48, 1962–63
FA Charity Shield (5) : 1952, 1956, 1957, 1965 (shared) , 1967 (shared)
European Cup (1) : 1967–68"

now look at what leeds won under revie, not much at all, they often fell at the last hurdel. Euro final was rigged but everything else wasn't.

I don't see how anyone can look at that team and how long it was together and say. yeah they won everything they should. they should of won more.

yes they took teams apart, they was class but for all the class they didn't win enough medals

as for wilko i have heard wilko many times as well as a lot of that squad say they never should of won the league, they punched above their weight while revies often got sucker punched

spansih as for all that matters. if you mean that wonderful you have a great outlook on life, but to many on here promotion matters more.

BW we are talking about the Revie era not 1990 and 2000s. You need to compare what we did then with what other teams achieved then. If Leeds had that team in the 1990s we might have won everything. You can't cherry pick stats from different eras to make a point. 1961=74.
2nd Division 1963/ 4
1st Division 1968/ 9 + 1973/ 4.
FA Cup 1972
League cup 1968.
Charity shield 1969
Fairs cup 1968 + 1971.
Compare that with Busby and Shanks over the same period two great managers. Anyway we were talking of Leeds managers achievements but sort of knew you would skew it to try and prove a point lol.

23 Sep 2019 13:05:09
Wilko did the same took an average team and made them into league champions, and then the next year set the record for the worst performance by reigning English champions by finishing 17th. He won the league and charity shield in his time in the top flight. Yes it was a great time and totally unexpected but when you finish 4th then 1st then 17th think that is a big underachievement. Not knocking him at all think he was great and was happy to be one of his army but get some perspective.

23 Sep 2019 13:09:23
You know what I agree about different eras. hard to compare

it is not about skewing stats or anything or proving a point as to be honest i don't really care what others think

for me that revie team didn't win enough, i think considering how long the team was together, considering how great they were they where a bit of a let down when it comes to medals. bremner, lorimer, grey etc. must look at there medals and think. i should of won more than that really

i think two league tites one of each cup and two 2nd teir european comps (granted layout was different then) was not enough and doesn't do the team justice. I only have videos to look back over which may highlight it, but often it looked like a team that choked sunderland is a great example but not the only one. Revie had a great team but comes up short with busby and shanks. why? (and to that i honesty don't know the answer)

as for comparing wilko to revie i see one manager (wilko) that got the best out of his limited team. i see one (wilko) who played his hand as well as he could getting every drop from them and making them acieve hights they didn't think possible

i then see the don who for all the wealth of talent open to him. shoud of won more

wilko- overachieved- great

don- underachieved- not great

it is simple. Pep won a lot but always things he should win, ranieria achieved a miricle and therefor did the better job.

23 Sep 2019 14:53:43
Revies lads were up against 10 or 11 very good sides and 5 world class managers. Spoils were shared more evenly then because competition was top class. We were in every competition until the semis or finals and around the top of the league very year i can't agree we did not do our best. Maybe we tried too hard and would have been easier to say forget the FA cup concentrate on the league but we never did. Yes we should have had more silverware but it was not from underachieving it was from trying to be the best. Fact is it was a great time to be supporting LUFC and no one around at that time will give your analysis any credence so agree to disagree.

23 Sep 2019 18:30:41
i have to be honest I don't know the league that well and the time so respect you veiws and can see good point to that

that said when ain't there a good few teams about?

24 Sep 2019 09:49:07
How about now? Man C and Liverpool, one of them will win title, others decent but between two teams really, not ten or eleven.
