So I think it’s quite clear that we have not strengthened in the positions we were significantly weak last season and which ultimately cost us so dearly.
IMO we still need 1/ 2 centre back ( Cahill, vermaelan, mangala ) all available on free
Centre mid, Sawyers is take as he’s better than foresaw and would be great cover for Kalvin whether he stays or goes
Attack, personally I think Roofe will go. Leaving is definitely needing at least 1, Hugill is a no for me, possibly Vydra, Austin
Certainly don’t want a young inexperienced kid coming in we already have enough that we can blood, we need an experienced older head who can finish the chances we create.
We clearly are not strong enough in depth to sustain a challenge. Radz Orta and bielsa need to get this right and sharpish.

Agree with your thoughts on strengthening certain positions but not sure if your choices are achievable. Centre back, Cahill, Vermalen or Mangala will be too much for our wage structure. Sawyers is not a defensive midfielder and would not provide cover for KP. Austin was starting for Southampton last season so I doubt he will drop a level.

Sunjic is a shoe in for a DM but also has the passing ability to start attacks and even step in for a No 10 if needed, but first, get a CB!

Southampton prepared to take £8m for Austin according to Sky Sports. I am sure he could do a job for us. Today's game has shown more than ever how desperate we are for Centre Backs.

We couldn't afford Austins wages for one thing. If we are dilly dallying at offering KP a better contract and Roofe, why do you think we could afford Austin's wages, even if he took a pay cut he would still be wanting more than our top earners.

Notts mate I was just throwing some names out there that show there is quality available. We all know exactly what we need so let’s hope stevie wonder and co in the recruitment dept can get it done. Failure to do so will definitely stunt us again.

I agree Austin would be a non starter for us as you say Mezzer, I was just saying an opinion regarding him being available, but surely if our Owner wants promotion he is going to have to get his finger out and get some decent players in. How costly was his dilly dallying with James in January?
