Would everyone agree that Costa is our marque signing or is there any more to come?
04 Jul 2019 17:31:35
Unless we get additional funds (incl. player sales) that will be it for first team.
04 Jul 2019 17:35:10
TTIAO Marquee. Expect us to make a serious move for Leyton Orient defender Dan Happe and the Croatian U-21 captain in preparation for the departures of Pontus and Phillips respectively. Smart moves if we can bring all 4 off for right price.
04 Jul 2019 17:52:47
Tbh never heard of either.
04 Jul 2019 17:54:43
Georgie, I know I’m known as your alter ego, but how can stripping out the spine of the team and replacing with untried youth be a smart move, given we want promotion next year?
04 Jul 2019 18:24:44
i know orient very well and happ ain't good enough, the orient defender that is worth buying is george elikubi a monster of a man who is quick and a proper defender who apprently villa where scouting. Not too optomistic about happ if i am honest decent but no better than what we have. could say it would be happ hazard signing.

RHC I do not fully agree with the sale of either but picking up on what's being reported in the press, there's an inevitability about both players and sadly Wilks too, his sale I also disagree with. Management seem intent on cashing in while going good.

I have just worked out who ttiao is, so who the hell is TBH?
04 Jul 2019 21:17:22
Berm Elokobi moved to Aldershot Town 5 months ago and he's about to turn 34 years of age.
04 Jul 2019 21:05:52
George while I enjoy your posts how can you say that having never seen these lads play. Well I’m assuming you’ve never seen them play? While I agree 20 million plus for Phillips is hard to turn down I can’t see how these four moves are anyway good from not knowing how the other two players are going to perform.
04 Jul 2019 21:54:41
Cork Both players are highly thought of. The Croatian seems the safer bet. The Orient defender has been compared to Harry Maguire and has PL clubs interested. Admittedly haven't seen either play whereas I know what Pontus and Phillips bring to the table. I just feel the opportunity to sell the pair for an approximate combined total of £40m can't be ignored.

Am actually beginning to agree George. There are gems to be found for both positions, and I personally do not distrust Orta. This is a business, and the money and players are a game to be played with. If he can do a job to replace both, and balance the books, then hey ho. As a fan of Kal tho, for a long time, I really don’t want him to leave, unless we get a buy back option.
05 Jul 2019 07:53:38
Bright, I agree that if we do sell Kal, whether to Angry Deano's Villa or anyone else, we must get a buyback clause included.
If it's Villa, in a slightly refined version of my previous thoughts, Kal can then ferment an ongoing low-level disagreement with Hourihane over the season which can dramatically erupt with Kal starting an on-pitch fight during the game at Newcastle on 21 March in a curious reverse of the Bowyer-Dyer incident in the same fixture almost 15 years to the day ago (give or take a couple of weeks - resulting in them both being sent off and banned during a key part of the season. Kaleb could then be dropped for the end of the season and sold back to us at a knock-down price.

Can I throw in to the mix.
Drum roll.
Mr.
Johnny.
H O W S O MMM
31yo, so he must be thinking of playing a more anchor role. Bags of experience. Always had the mobility. Always had the passing range. Never shrank in a Leeds shirt. Always had the LUFC passion. but an added advantage is he will improve our leadership group. He was captain of Leeds when he was 12 for god sake (well he looked 12) .
In fact Phillips is Howsom mkIII (Mowatt being the mkII version) .
Sell Phillips for an amazing amount of money and buy in 2 equally effective players for less. Keeps the first XI at similar performance levels, whilst improving the bench options (not saying which one goes where)

Good shout that Axe!
05 Jul 2019 09:49:42
Sorry I meant Marvin ekpatita young centre back played for England c and scouted by villia he is the os defender to go for.
05 Jul 2019 10:15:28
George Elokobi? The 33 year old who now plays for Aldershot. If we are looking for experience then I hear that Norman Hunter was a good defender, let's give him a call.
05 Jul 2019 11:18:35
Ouch
Lol
Give Bermo a break
Lol
Bermo, does the youngster bring height and a bit of beef?
05 Jul 2019 12:39:18
Very funny bermo!
05 Jul 2019 16:21:32
Ekpatita brings height physical presence and pace, makes big mistakes but often makes up for it with pace and generally defends well. Very dominant in air villa were interested. Think poor mans sol Campbell step up might be too much but I think he is better than happ.
