What are people's thoughts on Kemar Roofe - someone who hasn't attracted all that much transfer talk bar a few mentions with Villa.

Yes he had a good season, not a great one i'd argue and his contract (1yr left) isn't the greatest situation either. Personally, I think if he wants more than 20-25K a week then its time to let him go for somewhere between 7-10m.

Never happy to see good goal scorers leave but despite the goals I think our forwards underachieved, especially Bamford. I think Chris Wood with the same game time as Roofe would have broken the 20 goal mark comfortably. (Know Roofe was out for around 3 months total) .

Sorry Ealing, but people keep saying “Wood could’ve done this, that and the other”. Wood could not play in this team, nor play this style of football. Simple. He had a good season, and has an eye for goal, but not for us under Bielsa. He’s gone, and won’t be coming back. Roofe, on the other hand, who played only 60% of the season, has an engine, stamina, and drive, and would have delivered 20+ without injuries.

Are you forgetting the fact that he was injured this season.

Brightwhite, you keep saying that about Wood but I don’t see it, players move around and play as there new team want them to, and as we seen there is not much difference in our style to other team apart from our opening game which we couldn’t keep up. Point being made is wood would have scored .

Ealing I agree with you, Wood would have taken most of the chances Bam Bam didn’t,

I like Roofe. He has a bit of a nasty streak in him. You can tell he has scoring goals on his mind. Prefer to keep but I believe we will sell.

Bamford HAS TO GO, though i think we will keep him. he's too much of a primadonna player. He doesn't seem to want to work to hard, he wants the ball at his feet. Good technically, that's not we want from a striker/ forward. To score goals, not blaze away. Also if Casilla is wanted, sell him, get BPF as no 1 maybe alternating with another keeper we can get in. We got Casilla for free, so make a profit on him.

I read up on Bieslas past. He actually likes big target men!

I think the style he played last season was based on what he had available rather than what he actually wanted to play.

I agree with everyone on this thread

Wood could have thrived in a Biesla team
But also, Wood could not have shown the mobility Roofe had to, given that he was never favourite to win any crosses thrown in to the box.

That’s my point Axe. The primary form of defence in MB’s game is to close down opposing players, and quickly, and that starts from the front, which requires pace and an engine. Wood had no pace. He had presence, and was a good player IMO but just did not have the skill set to work under Bielsa. Plus, as I say, he’s gone, and some people need to get over that, because he’s not coming back. But yes, a target man, with pace and energy? Grot?

Grot

Edmundson

Dalby

We have a few players who could be honed into the perfect Biesla front man. However, the huge sticking point is the bit where the ball trickles over the goal line. That x factor. I just hope one of them finds that bit to his game.
