Whitey It's very ironic, like life generally. What we actually needed in January was a gung-ho get the wallet out, take a risk Chairman in order to land Speedy Rocket Pants! Someone like Ridsdale! He'd have been down to the bank in his helicopter carrying the goldfish to get the millions needed. He'd have somewhat undesirably lauded himself up in the spotlight for years after that but we'd be in the Premiership.

Why is everyone going on about Dan James being the messiah?
He looks a good un definitely, but there is no guarantee he would have produced the form he showed in the 2nd half of the season if we had bought him
Looking back on his 1st half of the season, he wasn't screaming Premier league quality. And if I am honest, until Bieslas PowerPoint presentation i doubt most of us knew who he was
Probably his 2nd half of the season showing reflects the confidence he got from Leeds wanting him (i did hear of any PL interest back then)
And, as a flank player, i don't really see him making a huge difference. We already have a huge amount of chances being created. We actually need a goalscorer to finish them off.

So George tell me who you as manager of Leeds United would you of brought in? I know bielsa isn’t one to change things too much and only identified James as one player he believed could fit in. I remember the Chapman signing and it made all the difference but I can’t think of any player who we could of got at a proper price in January and let’s be honest James looked over priced at the time.
George I respect you as a poster and actually see you as The Godfather of this thing but to say Bielsa should go and we have no chance of promotion and derby will stuff us. WTF! It’s been a great season for Leeds and hopefully we won’t have to go through the same again next year but if we have to then so be it. WE ARE LEEDS.

Corkster Appreciate the vote of confidence. Here's my opinion in bullets.
1. Bielsa is a very talented manager, best we've had in decades.
2. He does however have weaknesses. Obstinance being the main one. His loyalty to Dallas weird, his underuse of Shacks criminal. I'd like to see him introduce some variation. Give Edmondson some game time.
3. James was the answer. Axe believes someone else was needed in order to convert the chances but I believe more exactly that issue only gradually formed because of the James disappointment. Wasn't there before.
4. Real blame lies with Radz for reasons I've already outlined. Inexcusable January by him.
5. Orta has gone up in my estimation.
6. I'm so wanting us to beat the Rams but I'm a realist. We just don't have the form or the firepower.

One of the facts about James not mentioned much is that we identified him and went for him before anyone else, both a real credit to the club. We also clearly did a lot to get him as the guy was waiting to sign in Elland Road. Still not convinced that anyone on here really knows exactly what happened or what we would have needed to do to get him. Furthermore we don’t know what would have happened even if he had signed. let's hope what it shows is that we have the ability to scout good players before most of the others and some we will get!
If you appoint Bielsa, you get Bielsa not Bielsa with the changes every fan wants him to make every week. It’s Clearly Bielsa who has got us to where we are this season, start changing his selections and you take away who he is.

Georgie, interesting post.
1. Agree
2. Strengths are usually always potentially weaknesses. His single mindedness and confidence in his ideas Are strengths that hopefully are right many more times than they are wrong and he is seeing all these players every day.
3. Who knows if James was the answer but agree he would have been a good addition.
4. Impossible to know the full story but seems clear everyone at Leeds thought they had a deal. The details of the deal must have been known by at least some of the Swansea staff who were negotiating it. I have read conflicting accounts of why the chairman pulled out. All reports seem to agree that at no point did Swansea come back and say you can have him if you pay x, y, z.
5. Agreed, better season for Orta
6. We don’t have the form but we do have the same firepower that has helped us win key games during the year. One of the valid criticisms for me this year is our lack of consistency. In this situation this could be a blessing and the conditions could be right for us to have a blinder in at least one of the games. Let’s hope so.
