Anyone remember Adel Taraabt? He's just made his debut for Benfica, after 4 (four) years. A hell of a player eh? 😁😁😁.

Yeah bags of talent but bad attitude by all accounts. One for Ed001 to do a write up about?

{Ed001's Note - good idea, there is certainly a fair few stories to tell there, he is not the best of trainers. I have added him to the player profiles list.}

Nice one Ed :)

{Ed001's Note - that's what I am here for, the articles all come from requests. Though you have been lucky enough to escape them recently as we only just noticed earlier that the links have not been generating on here! Shame because I would have liked your opinion on this one about the torture of Iraqi footballers when Saddam Hussein ruled the country. I thought you would be interested alf.}

Hi Ed. I remember reading about Uday and Qusay some years back and being aghast at their brutality, despite knowing what the family was like. I remember that the sportsmen were terrified to fly back to Iraq after a loss. How physically damaging a sportsman is expected to improve their performance is beyond me. I remember that when the Americans found the two brothers, unlike their father they decided to fight to the death despite the odds. Insane in the true sense of the word.

{Ed001's Note - complete whackjobs mate. I worked with some Kurdish refugees when I first left school and they used to tell me tales of Iraq. I thought they were winding me up, as I was just a kid like, but it turns out they were underselling just how bad it was!}

Really good read Tris - as interesting as it is appalling. It truly is amazing how easily people who could make a difference turn a blind eye to atrocities.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. It is sickening. Still it puts in perspective some things, like each time you have to read a post by Berm, it may feel like torture but it is ever so slightly less painful than getting your feet whipped.....Though Berm does seem to have a similar effect on team performances as well.}

I think Leeds should hire me as a inpriational leader, I could motivate the lads, come on lads win or you are on the bus home with me!

no need to whip feet when i can whip their ears.

{Ed001's Note - just the very thought of being stuck on the bus next to you makes me want to jump out of the window!}

Just read the article

Firstly what a well researched and written piece

Secondly, I am sat here shocked. There but for the grace of god go I. Those poor people. What a terrible life they must have led

For me the most scary part is the US keeping Saddam in power because it was the lesser of two evils!

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate. It is sad that people who did know about it, and there were many of them, sat by and did nothing.}

no windows on my bus, I lose too many 'mates' that way. I strap people in like hannible and moan about KP and wax lyrical about the god that is Sir John Lukic

if they are really lucky i let them watch the dvd of my undefeated league and cup winning season of my five a side teams glory 105 minutes of pure gold!

it was back in the days of Neil Killkenny who was subject of my constant slating of the times.

{Ed001's Note - arrggghhhhhh!!!!! I am losing the will to live just reading you talking about it, let alone hearing you. Come back MM please, we need some sanity and sense on this site!}

Terrible to think that what is seen as a dream job for many around the world ended up in torture for talented Iraqis. Yet more evidence of the corruption of FIFA and IOC as well.
