At costs now Leeds United should 100% hold onto Raphinha now, for his interests and Leeds.
It looks pretty clear that nobody is going to stump up 65 plus Mil for him now.
For his own short term interests he needs to be playing every game in the Prem to showcase his talents prior to the World Cup to satisfy his selection.
Leeds will also benefit from his football and he will not be sulking and under performing because he will want to be selected. Then in the January transfer window situations may have changed from certain clubs who might have an interest in buying him. It’s also very likely that he will be a great success in his World Cup ventures for Brazil and his image in the shop window with his valuation has gone from 60 Mil to 100 Mil.
This must be a very serious and viable situation for Radz and Leeds United, they should not be forced by Barcelona to sell him for well under his valuation.
Think smart!

Agree, best he stays for now rather than be brow beaten by Barcelona and his agent to allow us to let him go for peanuts. Guarantee if he signs for Barcelona he will have a £100 + buy out clause in his contract.

Whilst I think it’s the right call OP, still believe Raphinia will go, not a sensible decision, but I think the disappointment of the Barcelona transfer not happening will make him (eventually) take the next best option.

Wrong thing to do, but think he’s an emotional guy that acts on impulse, remember when he first joined us he was furious that his transfer fee was less than his original buyout clause……but he still joined us.

As to criticism of KP fee and Radz ( I still thought it was a little low, £50 mill minimum) but circumstances were against us with KP wanting the move and contract situation, plus this talk of West Sham and Villa prepared to pay higher than Citeh, Kalvin wouldn’t have joined them over Citeh.

So Radz (remember for him it’s not just a view or an opinion but his OWN money) I believe he took a pragmatic business decision.

Had KP been forced to stay I think we could have expected 100% effort until his last game.

Sadly I differ with peoples views that Raphinia will perform for us (due to the impending World Cup) he’s going to get picked by Brazil irrespective based on previous performances and I fear he will do the bare minimum and that’s not someone you want sulking around this relatively new team to kickstart our season, again take away his penalties he’s not a natural goalscorer. But accept me made some critical assists in our run in.

So purely based on Raphinia’s personality I’d prefer a fully committed Greenwood or Summerville than half arsed Raphinia.

So to that end, I actually hope he’s sold and a quality replacement is bought in his place asap. Clearly the guy doesn’t want to stay.

As a legend who changed everything for us used to say… Side before self!

Or he stays, gets injured pre world cup, misses the tournament and rest of season and has 1 year left on his contract at the end of the season and we end up selling him for a loss.
Anything can happen, all that can be done is make the best call at the time and hope it pans out.
If he stays we really need it to be on a new contract with a 100 mill release clause, otherwise may as well sell now.

Canada, you’re right, that has to be the niggling doubt on playing the longer game on Raphinha in the expectation of a stellar World Cup and consequent increase in transfer

Considering some of the tackles that have gone in on the lad, both in the Prem and when playing for Brazil, who you’d presume will have some ‘friendlies’ lined up in the September international break, it’s amazing that, to date, Raphinha has only had a slight ankle injury and severe dead leg.

Chances are, all goes to plan, we’re quids in and look like transfers geniuses. But it would seem typical Leeds luck for Raphinha to get crocked this autumn, miss out on Qatar and see his transfer value tumble.
