Do we NEED to buy in January, maybe not, or not as much as some doomsayers would have us beleive.
Currently we have a disastrous injury list which would cripple most teams but, if all assets were utilised we have a temporary patch in all positions. If only they were used more. For instance we have a world beating Midfielder in our ranks, but he is not given a chance.
How do I know he is a world beater - I don't exactly, because he has not been given a chance. What we definitely do possess is a breath of fresh air up front. He eventually was given a chance and he has proved that he is well worth it. Sadly it may be too late for Lewis Bate (and others) as I feel we may have to spend in January but I then worry what will happen to our young guns as they are pushed further down the pecking order.
I do question the wisdom of a January striker? To make it worthwhile, good money will have to be spent to buy quality. What then happens to that quality when Bam Bam returns and as we know is given his slot back by Bielsa and the fiercely loyal man then leaves the expensive quality, warming the bench. Surely the ideal scenario is a 6 month loan? not as unachievable as it sounds. Take Lingard for example the man cannot get game time, he needs to play but also needs summer to come with the much improved market place. Would it not make sense to use him for 6 months to fill a yawning chasm in our midfield then buy wisely and leisurely in August.

Make some good points Leo,
I’ve certainly been firmly in the 2-3 recruits camp as much as I believe good quality championship players can do a better job for THIS season as too many kids.

But then as you rightfully say how do we know Bate is not the next big thing if we don’t try him out, given Klich’s serious dip in form why not Bate.

In addition to your own post read a interesting article about the double whammy hit Radz might take for additional signings by football money man Kevin Mackenzie

“Understood that the final price payable by 49ers would be linked to profit. If you invest in players, you’re going to have higher wages and your amortisation costs are going to go up.

At the same time, it could preserve your Premier League status. Relegation is probably worth around £80m, which is not something anyone wants to forfeit. That’s one of the reasons you can sell a Premier League club for a much higher price than you can in the Championship. ”

Maybe loans are the way to go?
Served Fulham quite well one person who has proved me totally wrong Alioski!

I for one thought he really wouldn’t be missed but would be ecstatic to have him for the rest of the season.

I would prefer few loans. We have to strength too many positions and I don’t think we have funds to buy quality players as they would cost stupid money. Every team can see that we are in desperate situation. Like Newcastle. They going to be robbed. They need players and obviously have a lot of money to spend. So any player going to cost twice more.
So loans with option to buy would be ideal. I would even be ok with some average or ageing players to have some quality on the bench when everyone will be back.
And for our young lads, they going to have their chance, cause I don’t think all those injuries will end this season. We were waiting all our main players to be back whole season and yet the situation is getting only worse.

Surely not a double whammy - increased amortisation and therefore lower profit and sale valuation is a disincentive, whereas safeguarding Prem status increases sale valuation and is therefore an incentive to sign players.

Giving the u23s an opportunity is a good idea if you’re doing so for one or two at any one time, and they are surrounded by experienced players, preferably in combinations that are used to playing together. They are more likely to thrIve in such circumstances. It becomes far more of a risk if you’re ravaged by injuries and your starting with three or four u23s and there are no experienced consistent performers on the bench, but rather more u23s with even less experience.

We really need to get at least a couple of players in. Yes, Bielsa is fiercely loyal to Bamford, but part of the reason for that is that we have no other forwards who have the attributes to replicate what he provides for the team. If we could bring in such a player it would give Bamford some genuine competition and support.

Agreed here, loans would be good and still an addition to the squad. how about the Felix kid at athletico madrid? Can’t get a game there surely worth an enquiry there Victor lad. 😂😂
1or 2 signings and a loan or 2 could really turn throngs around for us and ease the need to rush players back when they’re perhaps not quite ready.

What about Gelhardt Cluey. Maybe not quite the same attributes but if its goals you want maybe he's our man and when BamBam comes back he could play alongside. Problem would be Bielsas rigid, unchangable system 4-1-4-1.
I am not advocating wholesale changes. A couple of young kids would be fine by me. If you add together our injured to our grossly out of form then there is even more of a reason to gamble. Yes, I know its been said before but: You never know until.
Lewis Bate may well be utter pants but his form in the U23s seems to say otherwise. what's in there now is not working so, come on Marcelo, give him a half.
PS Good Luck to the lads tonight.

White Russian, don't mt think we will find a club with a player who is obviously an asset to them, willing to loan us to alleviate our pickle. Hence the o brien joke last time .

Few lads making goodmpoints about youth being pushed back if there's incomings

Sadly this is the reality of the PL, it's do or die and if your good enough you will do .

Leeds cannot afford the gamble of do or die sadly that comes with consistentcy and bigger squads .

Sadly when you invite investers in they are not worried about unearthed talent taking time to flourish, they want stable results, and they want sky cameras showing off their investment as much as possible .

It's a poison chalice, the Premiership and it eats up the weakest link all to often as we all know

We need some creativity badly, we are so basic this season, also paddy has not being scoring and our midfield contribute hardly anything to a score sheet

Sad but true, which is why we need to spend IMO.
