been reading a lot of comments on here and oher groups. Of course Bamford is getting the most comments and also Rads and Orta's failure to sign a forward.

i can see the views and points espically the ones made by BV wh as always makes some great points

however I think the blame for our striking problems and defensive problems lies with belisa.

rads brought in nekita who is class at this level and if used correctly would of been there or there abouts as top scorer in the league. but he is not a bliesa player. but bamford is

now how can rads get a belisa (bamford) type player who scores? how much would they cost and who are they?

think about past leeds strikers who have been good

beckford. not a belisa type player, he was more similar to nekita than bamford so wouldn't of made the grade

matt smith. for me very under rated and would be a great second option but not a belisa option

Ross mccormack. great on his day but did he have the work rate and lead the line and hold up th ball like bamford. maybe not

I think the nly suitable option would of been becchio who might make a belisa team but would he score as he played better in a pair?

same with defence. we say we couldn't get a belisa type defender but would we be better off with a non-belisa defender over cooper who makes mistakes?

as always belisa's greatness is also his weakness. i just hope he gets us ver the line but don't think we can blame rads and orta if we dont.

Interesting post BW and thanks for the appreciation.

Surely Orta and Bielsa between them could identify a 'Bielsa type forward' . they must be out there . why can't Leeds emulate the achievements of the excellent Brentford scouting network?!

Other than that, I would have moved heaven and earth in asking Roofe to either 1) extend his contract with a very good pay rise or if not 2) ask Roofe to see out his contract this season / stay this season.

£5.5 million transfer fee was not good value at all for Roofe
And Roofe's potential goals and assists this season would have been far more valuable!

As for the defence it can be fine, if they stop the needless overplaying at the back which leads to mistakes and goals conceded. as we saw with the Cardiff game gifting them 2 goals needlessly losing us at least one point.

Get the ball forward much more quickly lads!

. and Berm . definitely I would blame Radz and Orta far more than Bielsa.

Orta has one job - identify and sign players. If we aren't signing any then he should be out of work.

Would of made sense to let Roofe runs his contract, surely the 5.5 is pittance compared to his goal return.

Put it this way Alf . If Orta left Leeds would it be to Leeds detriment? . absolutely not!

Roofes scoring record is no better than Bamfords.
Need better than either of them two.

Canada, Roofe is a better player and more natural goalscorer than Bamford but yeah of course we would like and need better but Orta and Radz appear incapable of doing so.

So would still have been far more preferable to have Roofe as our first team striker with Bamford on the bench.

very good point about roofe.

I have said I think this years league is far weaker than last years, when asked why I think this it is because Leeds with pontus and roofe where far better than with bamford and white (I love white but we are very weak in air without Pontus although white is the better players) yet this year we have done better in my view as rest of league is weaker

this said how vital could roofe of been, certainly better than 5.5 million

if only we kept both roofe and pontus (but still got white and benchced cooper) we would probably already been promoted. still hind sight is a great thing

we are still going up!

I don't agree that Roofe is a more natural goalscorer Baz or he would have scored more goals which he didnt.
That being said I'd much rather had had the option of playing whoever trained better that week or replace one after 60 mins with the other but that's not an option sadly. Not even an option to bring on any striker.

Well Canada agree Roofey has never been prolific for Leeds but he was our top scorer lasr season with 15 goals from about 30 games which is good and a better scoring rate per game than Bambam ;and Roofey scored some absolute corkers.

Bamford for Leeds scored a goal every 198 mins.
Roofe a goal every 256 mins for Leeds.
If we say Roofe wasnt always a striker and just used the last 2 seasons he played for us he's still at 190 at best so not exactly much of an improvement even if you bend the data his way!
Last season both playing in the same team (probably the fairest comparison) Roofe scored every 167 min and Bamford every 161 min.
Hard to say Roofe was better when data says he wasn't.

Yeah stats are one thing. so in your opinion Canada who is better. who would you prefer of the 2?

I'd prefer (as already mentioned) to have both available so we are less predictable. Right now if Bam has a poor game (often) I'd like to be able to switch for Roofe (or vice versa) .
If I had to choose, I'd go for Bam but purely because he wants to be here and Roofe doesnt! I don't think either gives us an advantage over the other so wouldn't have complained if wed sold Bam and kept Roofe.

Roofe was always injured anyway so he’d have prob been out of action.

Bermo,

Radz/ Orta did sign a forward in the January transfer window!

JKA

Were you hibernating during January?
They even wanted to spend almost £20m on a Championship standard striker (thank goodness that fell thro)

And last year they also tried to sign a striker, James, but again that fell thro, not their fault. And that lad was quality.

If we don't go up it's not the fault of player recruitment.

Lol Axe that is a hell of a lot of if onlys, buts and excuses for Orta in signing no one who or someone who makes little impact, so Orta either

1l fails to sign a player for various reasons or

2) signs a permanent crock JKA, Forshaw, Roberts etc

Wow is that your idea of effective transfer recruitment Axe?

Sheff Utd showed up Orta in the. Jan transfer window of 2019 in actually managing to sign 2 fit strikers abd Oliver Norwood and that was significant in them achieving promotion at Leeds expense

In the last 2 seasons ( never been. the case
in the near 50 years of me supporting Leeds before) we have. had at times no available alternative striker in the first team squad to have as an option on the bench

A club of Leeds United stature should have 4 strikers not one or two, if we did, the injury of JKA would be less of an issue.
