Allegedly word building up that Watford's Ismaila Sarr, Senegalese international is joining us ??, and not Ambrosia for a few in region of £25M. Winger but can and also has featured as a striker through the middle. This could be half the resolution for the 2 positions which need filling.

The guy is massively inconsistent, plus we have plenty of wingers already. I don't get it. We don't need a other player who's a winger but has played CF a few times.

Dilli With you. Furthermore, his best position seems to be in the central attacking midfield area. For me, he's neither a winger nor a striker. He is talented but raw. If I were in charge, I'd pass but apparently a deal is close. Apparently, Watford striker Joao Pedro will be part of the deal arriving on loan. Now there is the reserve striker berth potentially filled but both players seem a touch underwhelming. Perhaps their hunger for the game and willingness to work has impressed?

Ye I’ve just read that we are 1 step away from signing sarr for £25m and Joao Pedro on loan! Both decent players. Time will tell if it’s good moves.

It’s not that rumour that’s worrying me George it’s the Juan Mata one that’s causing me concern! Do we really need a Devon Creamer reject? Especially one on so much money? Not for me ??.

Will see what happens, but it's not a transfer I like. Prefer Dennis over Sarr all day long if we're raiding Watford.

Would take Mata for a year or pay as you play deal. Be good having his experience to pass on knowledge to our young contingent of midfielders and could potentially unlock games off the bench ala Hernandez in his twilight. I'm convinced he could do a job for us as a squad player. Wages would be the only concern.

I’m with you lads, neither of these deals make sense to me, unless we’re losing Jack then Sarr would be ok. Joao Pedro hasn’t really lived up to the hype and personally think we need a more proven striker, would prefer Joffy got the minutes ahead of Pedro.

George - not sure on what basis you’d conclude that AM would be Sarr’s best position, as according to Transfermarkt he’s only started at AM once.

As Dillinger says, he is inconsistent, but to be fair to the lad, as the start of his fourth season at Watford, he’s now under his 8th ‘permanent’ manager at that club, and there were also two short periods of caretaker management. He was only 21 when he joined them, and such constant change of management/ coaching won’t have helped his development and certainly isn’t conducive to consistent performance. The rumours of us signing him way be completely baseless, but wherever he ends up next, under the right guidance he could develop into really decent player.

It’s perhaps not surprising that Joao Pedro hasn’t lived up to whatever hype there was about him. He moved to Watford from Fluminese in Brazil only a few months after turning 18, having been signed by Nigel Pearson, and just before CV19 caused the suspension of football, and lockdown in a totally new country can’t have been easy for a young lad. Pearson was sacked just before the end of the recommenced season and in the following 2 seasons he’s been managed/ coached by Vladimir Ivic, Xisco Munoz, Claudio Ranieri and Roy Hodgson. So overall his living/ training/ playing environment since moving from Brazil has probably not helped to develop his game.

Dont want Sarr and certainly not at the expense of the better Harrison

Harrison and Klich must remain at Leeds this season.

Good post Clue however I agree with Dill n Rambo.
Talented player but he makes Harrison look consistent. No way is he worth the 25 being mentioned especially with Watford in championship.
Apparently if we went down last season the Raph price would have been around the same!
15 mill I’d take a punt but in this age that ain’t going to happen.

The Raph price wad based in a release clause though Cork - not actual value.

Talk now is it's the Pedro loan which is close to confirmed deal. Possible Sarr deal not as advanced. Hope we leave him there. As for Pedro, if strategy is to get someone in who is below Joffy in the pecking order, this guy fits the bill and we're probably not going to get much better if parameter is must be below Joffy. We ought to be recruiting someone who challenges Paddy. Guess we're taking it easy this season.

I’ll have Sarr. Loads of potential, and it further stiffs the Red Sox.
Pedro is a risk free loan (for Xcode loan fee, which I’m guessing will be minimal in the scheme of things, as they want his wages off the books) , who, with time to settle could prove to be a gem, and a bargain.
Mata would bring a wealth of experience, and as has been said already, an impact sub, or a steady starter in bigger games.
So that’s 3 Yes’s from me.

Cluey Good posts as usual from you but you perfectly support my opinion. He's clearly been played in so many different positions by different managers it comes across in the footage of him. He doesn't seem to have a natural or any position at all which suits him. All I can say is he's not a winger nor a striker. He seems adept as a ball carrier and draws more fouls than usual.

If he arrives, don't know what you do with him. Talented yes but I think he's 24 now and to not know your best position at that stage concerning. For these reasons, he's an avoid for me. If we are going to spend that kind of money on him, I'd prefer we spend the extra £9M for Gakpo or Terrier or half the amount altogether for Adams.

I realize game has changed and there's a lack of genuine through the middle strikers but if you can't get one don't know why that means you resolve to blow £25M on a player who is ostensibly without portfolio, a misfit. Not his fault but we don't have to do him or Watford such a favour do we? This would be a weird transfer if it happens and I am not onboard with it.

If management want to thicken out midfield, go in for ?. If management want an extra dimension in attack then Terrier ought to be the target. If a solid reserve is what they want, you go for Adams and just get it done. Don't understand us sometimes, we seem to overthink things and at a juncture when we're actually doing quite well. The right recruitment and Ambrosia's place in the league is vulnerable to attack, from us.
