We’ve sold 110000 shirts this year. At £40 each that equates to £4.5m in sales nitro mention other merchandise. And yet we are still broke. How?

Paying silly wages for Bamford and Casilla. It’s meant that other team members want parity. The yearly wage for those two and KP amount to £4.5m alone, not to mention Klich costa cooper Dallas Ayling and foreshaw.

Took the words right off my finger tips Ali!
Add in all of the rest of the paid staff, ER running costs on a daily basis, TA running, upkeep, even running cost of things like ticket offices, merch stores, marketing, grounds men and the myriad of other overhead costs; Football is a loss maker. It’s how much you lose that needs to be managed.

That said, those shirt sales alone are amazing, and the grey one is our best selling second strip EVER!

The running costs will not have altered much from previous years unless the rents gone up so the increase in costs must be down to wages. Previous years we have done ok so not sure why we are in such dire straits this season. When you quote £4.5mill then you need to take into account last season Bam was here on same wage so not all extra. kp and Bam maybe a million more than last season. Costa and Kiko on high wages but we did offload over 15 players in summer. Not adding up for me.

Plus we were told at beginning of summer there was a 20mill fund for loan players so he is not paying their wages. This is Kinnear spin doctor again.

The vast majority of shirt sales go to the manufacturer, as part of the deal for them to be the manufacturer (clubs are estimated to get 10-15%, though maybe more at the lower leagues) . Admittedly there will be this years shirt deal money coming in and a small boost due to increased sales on last year, but it won’t make a massive difference between the two seasons.

The increased sales will however help us strike a better deal when it comes up for renewal.

{Ed001's Note - clubs do not get a %age except in very rare circumstances apart from the merchant's cut when the sale is through the club's own store.}
