Firstly let's say we'll done to Preston, pressed us way quicker than any other team have this season (especially the first 20 mins) . clear to see after tonight's game that the squad needs more depth, shaunnesy isn't ready for championship football just yet and maybe a loan to a league one side would have been a good move for him this season, Baker and Harrison are still learning the game and don't quite look up to it at the moment. anything happens to saiz or Hernandez and we could have a problem, most worrying thing for me is Bamford, some will say he's still getting match fit but he looked nowhere near good enough to me tonight, at 7 mil maybe rising to 10,even if only 80 percent fit I would hope for a lot more than he's shown. I hope he proves me wrong but I would be gin smacked if he gets 20 this season.

Preston looked like it was their cup final, worked very hard and were at us all the time. In that sense it was a good training exercise and we couldn’t deal with it.

Don’t think we could afford to loan shaunessy out, but he is definitely rusty, had no preseason.

To be kind to Bamford, nothing came off last night but remember that Roofe had lots of games when the team played badly and he looked awful.

The international break comes at a good time, two weeks for recovery and a chance for Bielsa to work with the fringe players who hopefully won’t be away on international duty.

Middlesborough game becomes even more important. Need to bounc back and show we can learn from that type of game. Middlesbrough can be a more skilful version of Preston, only conceded 2 goals so far in the league, so it’s going to be tough!

Also great test for Bielsa.

Phil Hay stating we are close to signing a championship player. wonder who that could be? 🤔

Thi k the main concern for the remaining games whether it's play offs or automatic is who's going to score the goals, for all our possession and crosses into the box we very rarely look like scoring, Roofe played far too deep when he came on and looked rusty as hell, and taking Roberts off killed our creativity. Bamford scored but apart from that what did he do? . he was virtually anonymous again, we need a midfielder to start chipping in with goals, there's a serious lack of quality down our left hand side, we must have had 30 attack's yesterday down that side and one quality ball in all game (which Roofe chested to the keeper) .3 to go and we desperately need coooer back and someone to score GOALS!

Agree with above. been posting all season on lack of investment, kids used, no experience, rose tinted glasses, no killer goalscorer etc etc. We should have won and been right behind Norwich. Brentford will be last chance for auto promotion and then who would bet a year's wages on Villa NOT going up?
Sad situation and £200m for building and the dream gone.

2.) 20 Apr 2019 12:47:27
You sound like you are supporting Villa more than Leeds! We’ve got a team guaranteed playoffs, And still with a chance of going up automatically. Shouldn’t we be doing everything we can to get the lads over the line. Can’t understand people who give up when there’s still a chance! Sheffield didn’t give up, why should we!

3.) 20 Apr 2019 19:13:17
Spanish, some people were giving up when we lost to Birmingham at home 😁😁😁.

Probably the first keeper to come to elland rd and not have to make ONE save. got what we deserved I thought. sry poor final 3rd, lack of composure and quality in the final 3rd.

Did Biesla say anything at all about Izzy Brown in his pre match comments? . anyone think he will be on the bench or another wk or 2,surely he has 20 mins in him from the bench if we need a goal.

Totally agre, surely he is worth a a olace on the bench.

2.) 08 Feb 2019 19:54:56
He will be lucky to play last match of the season at this rate, despite the team crying out for a player like him.

Got to say Norwich pressed us for full 90 mins, first time we have played a team with equal fitness to ours, if not better, they impressed me tonight, still too 2 and it's going to be a nervous ride, on the match, again lots of possession, especially first half, without creating a great deal, think at times Ayling kills us bombing fwd all the time, letting teams have so much space on the counter attack. not many positives tonight, onwards and upwards. mot.

All the diving, really bad "injuries"" and time-wasting really impressed me too, and that tackle by Krul was top drawer.

Ed. do you think we are that skint that we couldn't afford the initial down payment? . that's a big worry if we couldn't get 1.5mil together? . lots of things flying about from both sides and it's who to believe? . cheers.

Alaw

{Ed001's Note - not sure you are skint. I think it is more that you have a poor credit rating from previous owners which makes it difficult to get the short term loans clubs tend to use to fund transfers. Clubs do not sit with large cash reserves ready to stick in a carrier bag for a transfer, so they usually get a short term loan which is paid back from income.

I will have to see if I can find the explanation of how it works my friend once gave me. She was a decision maker at a finance company that worked with Spurs and other clubs, to provide those short term loans. They did other things too, but she worked purely on that side of things and, when she got married, because her hubby didn't like her to continue to talk to old erm friends, she typed me up a full explanation. I will dig through my files and see if I can find it.}

Ok, thanks. I would have thought we would have that amount without having to borrow it, and if that’s the case, unless we get out of this league or sell players whilst in this league it’s going to be hard for us to get any new players?

{Ed001's Note - no club in European football, that I am aware of, carries that amount of cash in the bank, other than Arsenal. And that is more for Kroenke's own devices, as he uses that as leverage to borrow against. You are right, though maintaining full houses would bring in the money, and give something for the club to leverage for a loan in the future.}

2.) 01 Feb 2019 20:36:11
I know I'm old and feeble-minded but if there's nothing in the bank accounts where's all the money?

{Ed001's Note - like most businesses in the UK, clubs run on an overdraft. Money coming in is usually going straight back out paying salaries, back payments on transfers, agent fees, electricity bills etc. Clubs (as do most businesses) leverage future income to pay for things like transfers, then pay back the loans afterwards. It does not seem the best way of conducting business to me, but it is the way the Western world does it. Speculate to accumulate, rather than saving up and paying for it when you have it in hand.}

Roberts does the odd good thing but he’s not got enough goals in him to be a 10,and disappears a lot in games, pablo needs to be 10 for me every game. things could be worse, could be a Middlesbrough supporter!

Agree on kiko, he got lucky there, when we were at Rotherham he scared the life out of me over committing for crosses and long throws he was going to get nowhere near, we struggled once Roberts went to number 9,Biesla recognised it and the subs he then made were to dig in and defend what we had, which I thought was great management, most aggressive I have seen Pontus and cooper all season, both excellent, Phillips was class first half but looked to be struggling 2nd with injury. Harrison getting better and for me was our best outlet till he got subbed. just hope Bamford is ok for Tuesday with Roofe being out. well deserved hard fought 3 points I thought. made the trip worthwhile!

No goals in that team unfortunately, Bamford looks out of his depth. Roberts? . don’t see what he does at all, created zip and had one shot, Harrison and Alioskis delivery from the left have been woeful for wks, we have been hanging in there for wks not playing well and getting the odd result. we have massively over achieved this season, and we all would have taken where we are at the start, the worrying thing is it’s how you finish not how you start, and we are getting worse as the teams around us are hitting form. someone needs to step up and get us some goLs.
