. Thanks for the update. I agree. No more Beckford talk. MOT!

Agree1 Disagree0

Never wanted him back too greedy no loyalty

Agree2 Disagree0

Must admit I can't think whe he hasn't played more games for Leicester this season, but he is obviously still scoring a few goals.

I don't particularly want him back, but good luck to him - he'll need it if he joins Bolton.

How is he signing when transfer window not open? he might be negotiating, but can't sign.
About him not being loyal, he saw out his contract to see us over the line, when he could have gone in Jan.
You saw how much we meant to him when he came back, Leeds salutes to the Kop ect and he was in Headingley after the game drinking with us and said he would love to come back.
If Brian wants him because he thinks he's good enough then I would love him back, but not if its just as a crowd pleaser.
Maybe its just time to move on and bring in younger players and let Brian build a team in his own style. I and lots of my fellow Leeds mates trust his judgement. MOT

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes you can sign out of the transfer window. All deals, contracts etc can be completed and submitted to the football league at any time. The window just means that the player does not move teams until the defined window opens.

Agree1 Disagree0

He will be back at leeds trust me

Agree0 Disagree1

Firstly, he hasn't actually signed yet, how many players have been reported in papers that we were close to signing that never materialised?

Secondly, if people want to believe he will come back, let them, after all football is all about opinions, if that's who they feel is needed then that is their opinion.

Thirdly, I'm undecided as to whether it would be a good idea him coming back or not. If he comes back and it backfires then them good times he had with us will be a distant memory, however if he comes back and delivers he would be what we have been missing from a forward from the season just gone. goals.

Agree1 Disagree0

This guy has history, why does this surprise and disapoint you? He has only ever produced in league one anyway. Over rated and probably over paid in my opinion. let's get players who want to wear our shirt!

Agree1 Disagree1

How can anyone not want him back? I fail to see it. He left us, yes. Probably for more money, maybe even because of the lure of playing in the perm, and also as he wasn't getting any younger but just because he left all you bitter fans keep saying, 'nope', 'we don't want old players back'. But he finished joint top scorer with Everton that season and in my mind, he is a proven goalscorer.

He can score from anywhere, good in the air, fast and has a great first touch. Plus, judging by his actions when he has returned to the mighty Elland road, still has us in his heart.

I would much prefer to see leading our front line with Morrison or McCormack than to see Varney up there. The guy is our worst player!

Agree1 Disagree1

I completely agree with Thailand whites post, he did a great job for us, could of left in Jan & stayed & was tempted away with a big contract & premier league football. I would also love to see him back in a Leeds shirt. since he left us has anyone scored more goals than he did for us? no. to many haters. mot

Agree0 Disagree1

He scored a lot in league 1.
He also destroyed our chances of getting promoted in the same season by not scoring for, what-was-it, 11 games when Grayson refused to drop him and he was pointless dead weight up front?
He's BAD NEWS. Huddersfield were doing well until they signed Beckford.
Leicester have done very well since they got rid.
Sign Beckford, lose your dressing room.
Shouldn't be anywhere above League One, in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

The knee-jerk negative reaction to past players is becoming a bit tedious. What's important is whether the player in question would improve us at the current time. In Alan Smith's case, it was always going to be a no, for that reason alone. In Beckford's case, recent form suggests that he's still got it. Beckford or Varney / Morison? It's a no-brainer -if we can afford him, and he wants to come here, then I personally would take him. The so-called loyalty issue is a bit of a red herring -no one can seriously have any issue with any player having left a middling Championship club for a shot at the Prem. People are deluding themselves if they think they'd have done any differently to Howson, Snoddy, Becchio, Beckford et al. In 2013, the rewards, financially and fame-wise, make it impossible for any player not eventually to succumb. And don't forget these guys were giving their all at a time when their efforts were being undermined by Bates' self-serving Chairmanship. Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes only ever produced in league 1? he did well in PL with everton and was one of there top scorers!

I for one would love him back but i'm sure there's better out there.

MOT!

Agree0 Disagree1

He scored only 8 league goal for Everton. How is that doing well? Moyes was quick to sell him as he fell out with him over his lack of effort. He was not their top goalscorer. Their top goalscorer was Cahill with 9 league goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford scored 10 that season coming off the bench for everton, I think he has still got a lot to offer, he fits leeds like a glove, but his grafter ie becchio has gone, he left everton because moyes would not annichebe play up front with him, I think he would be great in a four at leeds don't know if we can afford his wages that's the problem

Agree0 Disagree1

Man, come on Beckford was great for us but we had his best, he went for a last pay day at Everton, which I don't blame him

His best years are behind him now and he is truly a Div 1 player and needs to go back to that level

We don't need him, far more better players out there

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2013 20:00:49
moyes intersted in byram at everton for 8 million now if at sc** maybe 12 million? what's the opinion guys

Believable13 Unbelievable64

Hope not and can't see it as they already have rafael

10 May 2013 08:46:32
I can t see it at that price, give the lad another year or 2 on his contract and slap a price tag of around 20 to 25 million on it we need to start showing other clubs, remember Lennon he was his age when he left and since then byram is our top class player one for the future oh and this lad does have a future STAY G. F. H don't CASH IN ls6

Agree1 Disagree0

That would be the ultimate challenge for GFH. NOT to sell our prize asset to the most hated rivals.

After all, Fergie wouldn't let Kusack come to us because it was us and he didn't want him. **** em!

New owners got no money so billy sharpe isn't coming its another season off free transfers and loan players unless they sell byram which with Leeds is very likely to happen, so let's stop all these untrue and very unlikely transfer rumours

Believable22 Unbelievable51

Can you please at least wait until the start of the transfer window before you get all doom and gloomy.

Some of us like to be optimists, or just have a little bit of faith, or even just be simply mad, but can you just give us a short break without all the negativity.

Agree4 Disagree0

Optimism at its peak right ther

Agree0 Disagree0

Your a barrel of laughs aren't you. We will be spending this window - make no mistake

Agree0 Disagree0

IF THE GFH HAVEN'T GOT MONEY etc rumor was true I really think Brian mcd would of at least given us. A clue to that in his recent comments he has made to us when commenting on targets etc etc so really let's drop the negativity towards ANYTHING LEEDS let's maybe start believing till we no other wise as Brian mcd seems to be very truthful in all he says at present. Agree2 Disagree0

We are LEEDS. we are SKINT.

new owners own nowt. no money, no
ambition, and no hope

Agree0 Disagree2

Sad but almost certainly true. : (

Agree0 Disagree2

I fully agree with you, mate. It's same old same old at Leeds United.

Mr Happy.

Agree0 Disagree2

Next is going to be a mixture off youth players and players not good enough for anyone else it's defo all gloom and doom at er and no amount off spin what David haigh puts on it will help and to the clowns who think bates would sell the club to people who are going to spend money surely now u have to admit that once again bates has put another Nail in Leeds coffin!

Agree0 Disagree2

Big Mac has mentioned that he hasn't talked transfer budget with GFH so he has given forward a list of 7 or 8 players he would lik to bring in and see who they get for him.

heres hoping GFH

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree unfortunately were skint!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't you quit the rubbish and give GFH a chance

Agree1 Disagree0

Do you seriously think a manager of Mac's reputation would have come if not guarantied funds to improve the team? Get over the negativity and wait and see. The window isn't even open yet FFS

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm delighted I don't sit next to any of you lot. either at ER or in the bar. Make sure you always have someone with you to ensure you don't do yourselves harm.

It's time to trust brian McDermott guys. he may not spend the money that some on here would like but he will bring in quality players and will also give the academy players their opportunities. just watch.

Agree1 Disagree0

Somebody needs some happy pills.

Brian McD will have wanted reassurances before he joined and after seeing the shower we currently have would not have joined unless he was guaranteed at least some funds?

We spent close to 2 mil last summer, although NOT enough, if we got 2 mil to spend again it is better than nowt.

I am giving GFH a chnce and will judge after the summer window. Big Mac will bring in only players he thinks fit whether they be 3 mil or 300,000 or indeed FREE

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd like to do a survey on the number of people who call The Samaritans and see the football clubs they support.

Whilst Leeds has one of the best 12th men with a packed Elland Road on their day, s*** the bed is it depressing reading some of the posts on here some days!

Lighten up guys! The Champions League semi is a lifetime ago! We are where we are. For once can we just start a season with a new manager, new owners and a new positive attitude from our supporters!

Why do some if you seem incapable of a little faith?! Marching on Together. apart from all you borderline suicidal pessimists!

Agree0 Disagree0

Or alternatively we could just cheer the f*** up and not just assume the worst about everything and make up horrendous situations which as yet have no basis in fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brian Mc said he has had assurances about GFH's commitment. He can only go with what they say. I'm optimistic we will have a transfer budget to play with, I just hope it's not from selling Byram. Still if that's what it takes to go forward (Sell one excellent player and get three good players in), then so be it. Let's be optimistic for now, let's face it, if it does turn out we ain't got money we have got a long season to moan about it :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it all about the money?
go and watch Uddersfield they have a couple of quid. Stop moaning and see what the season brings.

Agree0 Disagree0

You havnt stated how you've got inside info on an Islamic investment company, would have thought it would be difficult to get the inside info that you have, well done

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I would like to think the original poster is wrong, I suspect he maybe correct. GFH already sold our top goal scorer and brought in Morison to replace him, so the writing is on the wall for all to see.

Possible outs:

Pugh - Sheffield Wednesday - 200k
Brown - Sheffield United - free
Tonge - Doncaster Rovers - 200k
Pearce - Bournemouth - 450k
Dawson - Season long loan - League 1 club

Possible ins:

Jerome Thomas - WBA - Free
Graham Dorrans - WBA - £750k
Alex Pearce - Reading - Free
Matt Mills - Bolton - £750k
James Vaughan - Norwich £1m

Believable30 Unbelievable66

Outs -

Sheffield Wednesday had a good finish towards the end of the season with Pugh being a regular. Very likely deal I think.

Brown is a maybe, not to Sheffield United though. They are looking at academy and younger players to rebuild. I think Brown going might depend on Zac Thompson, and Dawson.

Pearce, I think Bournemouth have a strong left-side of defence, think they most need to strengthen elsewhere. Tonge, I have really no idea, likewise I think it might depend on pre-season with Thompson and Dawson.

Ins -

Jerome Thomas was a favourite of Warnock, so new manager new ideas. Possibility though.

Can't see Dorrans coming to Leeds, even though he has fallen out of favour, he still carries a good reputation that will get him a good club for a larger fee.

Pearce is a push if we are lucky, can see plenty of competition for him. Matt Mills cost Bolton £2million, and I know Leicester let him go for a fraction of the price, but Bolton won't.

James Vaughan, not a clue where he will end up. His injury record will put off bigger sides than us, whilst a few teams will take him on a chance of keeping him fit. Personally feel it would be a bit of a gamble, but very talented player.

I've heard Beckford has rejected Huddersfield its now our time to get him back

Agree0 Disagree0

Not rejected Huddersfield we won't pay his wages and you can't afford his wages
For a player Leeds thru and thru he LOVED being a terrier
Scott

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree about Pearce -still has plenty to offer I think, and is young enough to develop. Also, I think Brian will have Dawson in and around the first team squad - I would like to see him used intermittently for impact, and gradually establishing himself, rather than knackering himself slogging around the lower leagues. Personally, I would be more than happy to see the limited Austin and Norris join Tonge and Brown at the exit door. Our midfield has been woeful for most of the last year. Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully:

Brown - ANYWHERE - free

The sooner we are rid, the better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt Dawson will be loaned, could do a job for us

Dorrans has not fell out of favour, he has started most games this year when fit. And that price is a joke, the compare him to Bryan Robson in Birmingham. Knocked back serious bids in the millions from West Ham last year. I think Leeds fans need a reality check

blackpools out of contract neal eardley and craig cathcart on brian mcdermott

Believable12 Unbelievable35

Both quality players but both are not really what we need. Cathcart isn't a big solid, strong centre half ( needed) and eardley is another right back, which we already have two top quality ones.

Jermaine Beckford to make a return to Leeds after turning down an offer from Huddersfield

Believable36 Unbelievable60

Boring now.

Agree2 Disagree0

Naughty!

Agree1 Disagree0

This is one of those annual rumours, that seems to never go away. Every time he gets a goal, we are linked with him again.

Agree1 Disagree0

Bring beckford back score goals for fun with good service bet he looks around at Huddersfield and thinks where's his life gone wrong

Agree0 Disagree1

Isn't it about that time where Alan Smith has been spotted in the car park.

Agree2 Disagree0

Please Mrs Beckford stop trying to get your son a job, fans without mental issues do not want him back at ER.

Agree0 Disagree0

Geeez zzz drop the old boys theme even it it is Beckford left us,! Gone to others for the ££££££ and to play for bigger/ premier sides. with most of the old boys its not worked out. BASICALY TOUGH don't want them back now!never! So give it up they dropped LEEDS Without 2nd glance so new faces only please!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cannot understand the above reactions. We have been rubbish in most games. We have not had a goalscorer since Beckford left. Look at what we have now - Browne, Green, Norris, Varney, Tonge. all complete rubbish - all reckless in tackles or lacking pace. and their shooting, well. Take Bryan out (must improve his crossing though and Diouf was poor at crossing and taking corners all season as well), there is no one in the team to get excited about. At least when Beckford played, we always had a chance of scoring. Open your eyes!
