Gianfranco Zola is being targeted to replace Brian McDermott following a run of poor results.

Despite Cellino slaughtering the players and defending the gaffer after yesterday's shambles, Massimo Cellino feels McDermott isn't capable enough to take this football club forward on the pitch.

It is understood Cellino will attempt to persuade Zola to take the helm in the summer. This also depends on the football league approval although Cellino's camp are extremely confident he'll be approved.

I like Zola but why did he walk from Watford when things took a turn for the worse??

Andy MOT

NO THANKS!

Agree1 Disagree0

Apart from being an Italian what has Zola achieved as a manager? Mr Cellino wants Leeds United to be promoted into Premier League asap and to remain there to provide maximum returns on his financial investment so if approved by FL would make a marquee signing for manager's post (not just a 6'x 4' tent!) Total rubbish. Please try harder.

Agree3 Disagree0

The way massimo cellino is talking in the papers, about kicking their butts one by one maybe he could be a good bet for owner/ coach?

This has been a rumor I considered fueling for a while, Zola is the perfect fit. Has a Cagliari history, is Sardinian as per Cellinio and has experience at this level of management with multiple italian loans. Could be worse, could be better.

Agree1 Disagree0

Bring back o'leary at least he'll show heart and disire, it's gone on to long now different manager+players but same excuses getting sick of it, if we're going to lose at least show some effort into it.

Di canio is an Italian who kicks butts. Sunderland lost him credibility though

BMD I have reserved and paid for a seat home on the reading bus where you can reminise at leisure. now **** off. I have seen more life in a tramps vest than what your teams display,
P.S. take your brother in getting fatter, DH, with you please

Mr T.

Agree0 Disagree3

Zola, di matteo no no no, proved nothing as managers.
Oleary no again found out at villa for being tactically inept.
Bmc is the man give him time with cellinos money he will do it.

Wft
Di Matteo proved nothing?
He won the European cup as a coach
Unbelievable

Agree1 Disagree0

No he took chelski for 2 matches, AVB basically won that trophy and if he us such a good European cup winning coach then why has no other club in the world offered him anything.
We don't need an unproven coach, I stick by my statement.

Di matteo where is he at the moment?

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure Di Matteo beat Napoli, Benfica and Barcelona over two legs and Bayern and winning the FA Cup
I disagree because this isn't Championship Manager and one must have some managerial skills to achieve what he did

Agree0 Disagree0

So Roberto Di Matteo has proved nothing as a manager! Really?
At MK Dons he has a win rate of 51.92%
At WBA a win rate of 48.19%
At Chelsea a win rate of 57.14%
He won promotion with WBA. The FA Cup with Chelsea and the Champions League

Compare that to McDermott
Slough 34.4%
Woking 44.71%
Reading 44.97%
Leeds 39.02%
One promotion

Well Snoopy who is proven here?

Agree0 Disagree0

AVB built the side, it's just the chelski wouldn't play for a coach who made them train hard, so they waited and played well for there chum, abramovich new it too that's the only reason he hired him.
Di matteo is not in a job because every chairman worth his salt won't touch him as they see what I see.

Good call. Would have no problem with Zola -had Watford playing some good stuff last year. Would be happy with Di Matteo as well. Compared to what we have at the moment! Just such a shame Poyet's taken -he's the one I would have wanted. Chapel A

Snoopy is that wood or trees you are seeing

Agree0 Disagree0

. Nevermind changing managers. It’s all too late. 11 years of lies. Adminstration gets closer and closer

BeestonWhiteBlue&Gold

Agree0 Disagree0

Snoopy -how can you say AVB built the side when he was manager of Chelsea for exactly the same period of time as Di Matteo (8 months!). The core of that side (Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cech), and its ethos, was built by Mourinho. Chapel A

A screenshot of a Leeds fan's chat with Massimo Cellino's son, Edoardo has been going around Twitter for the past few weeks. Some may have seen it. Edoardo says that his father is looking to bring in Victor Ibarbo, Adryan, Davide Astori.

Leeds, Cellino attacks players: "They deserve kicks, seemed chickens"

A defeat hard to swallow. Massimo Cellino has not sent down the inside of her beating Leeds 1-5 against Bolton and the British press reported his statements, anything but diplomatic. "I've never seen the play Cagliari in this way, they too can lose a game, but they always fight and everything. Players I would take all kick your ass if you deserve it, they blame. Took to the field without pride, should be ashamed. looked like chickens, can and should do much better. " The translation is bad, I think you will get the message MOT

That was in February

Agree0 Disagree0

No ON THE CONTINENT THE MONTH THE DAY THE YEAR. I know I live here, so the date is March the 9th 2014. The Italian translated to English does not do justice to what cellino means or felt. it always losses that certain something. He was not pleased putting it mildly. MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry ED but the twitter clearly states 1-5 and Bolton, from original sender. Hope there are strangers at the training ground tomorrow with violin cases. long live the Don. MOT

I wouldn't mind that :)

{Ed003's Note - Can you send a pic in if you do lol.}

Sure will

Blue cheese sauce goes real well with bricks, just a thought.c'mon ibarbo if only too watch a man eat bricks haha

Astori won't be coming, he's hardly going to play in English championship when sides like Dortmund want him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Astori has been linked with a 9m move to Dortmund so I would say this rumour is wide of the mark. Mot
