Acc to Ben Jacobs he said himself he has contact with one of the buyers,he's saying its not gonna go through,he's confident it won't go through so who told him, work it out its dead let's face it,Bates f--ks it up again,no one and I mean no one can do bussiness with Bates unless he gets everything his own way.

Believable43 Unbelievable19

Where has he said it won't go through? I've read through his tweets and he doesn't say this. What he does say is that the buyers are losing patience and more or less implies it's on a 'knife-edge'.

Agree0 Disagree1

Bollox to the take over, bollox to bates, love Leeds United thats all that counts !! as for BJ he sucks !!

Update from Ben Jacobs, BBC Middle East Journolist

"Right, I can now tell you 1) no statement will be released tonight from the buyers 2) nothing has been signed today."

He also says buyers are losing patience. I'm inclined to believe him as he is in contact with one of the consortium. The upshot is, the deal is on a knife edge in my opinion. Bates is close to fecking this one up for us.

Believable55 Unbelievable4

Well seing as all of that was reported in the evening post 3 days ago i'd say all he did was pick up the paper and read it. not much of a report or a rumour

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above replying post, this update from Ben Jacobs came direct from one of the consortium last night, following a meeting between Leeds and the buyers yesterday, so how the YEP would have reported on that three days ago would be impossible. However you are correct that this leaves us in no better a situation than before the meeting, unless progress was made of course.

Not been funny but why oh why doesn't ken take the money and go and enjoy one last hurrah.
Surely at 80 you want something less stressful .
Leave it to the younger ones now.you can't take your money with you so go and relax.my uncle was like you at 65.tight and stubborn.till at 65 he dropped down of a heart attack and that was it,nobody really missed him as he wasn't pleasant.
So go home, put on Christmas carol and think about it....shrew leeds

Believable48 Unbelievable2

What stress has bates really got if he stays away from England . its not like hes got millions of pounds thrown into Leeds United and stressed cos hes gonna lose it all because hes not. if he doesn't sell why would it bother him if he holds onto this club for another 10 yrs . the value will probably just keep going up if we stay in the championship or get lucky and reach the prem league. the only way he could be stressed is if he was watching tv or listening to radio really and its simple for him ,dont do either

The ultimatum?

I am sure 99% of people on here have given up on this takeover, if it was going to happen it would have done so BEFORE the start of the season OR BEFORE the transfer window shut?

There is going to be no 'added value' from now on in, on Bates behalf.

Any prospective buyers will now just be waiting for Bates to either sign the club over or, maybe, walk away.

We as Leeds supporters have a choice?

We either do nothing and wish/pray/hope something will happen.

Or we do the one thing that will hit Bates harder than anything else ever will.

And before anyone tells me that staying away will hurt the team, look at the alternatives?

We have the smallest squad ever, we have the best manager we could hope to have, and we have Bates?

I seriously believe that boycotting the next two home games (whether you have bought tickets or not) would be enough to make Bates realise he isn't in charge, WE ARE?

You can come up with all of the arguements undet the sun, but the only thing Bates will ever understand is having no income, nobody to call people and nobody to argue against?

I am nothing to do with LUST or any other group, I have supported Leeds for over 40 years now but I will NEVER pay a penny more into Leeds while Bates remains in charge and leeching OUR money out of the club.

To me you have the same choice.

You either continue to put money into Leeds (by that I mean Bates pocket) or you make a stand for yourself and all your fellow Leeds supporters.

This isn't going to hurt the players in any way whatsoever, they have contracts and will still get paid, and as long as they are aware of our true feelings and why we are taking this action, then hopefully the end result will justify the means?

I am sure every single player would appreciate a pay rise, or at least a reasonable wage compared to other championship clubs? Our club can afford that, but not while Bates is putting that money in his pocket?

Arguments about Beckford coming back, players we are or are not chasing are irrelevant while Bates has a stranglehold on the finances.

I am NOT advocating a free for all, spending wise, we are all too aware of where that ends up.

But if Bates has no money coming in, and we have a totally empty ground (home supporters) sooner or later something will give.

While you (as true loyal supporters) allow Bates to leech serious amounts of money out of OUR club, we are going nowhere....

The rest is down to you....

Leeds4alongtime (but not paying Bates)

Believable42 Unbelievable37

You, my friend, have hit the nail squarly on the head! Every point you bring up is correct. It takes a big slap in the wallet to get the attention of people like Bates. The one thing I will say that every Leeds fan knows, but I have not seen written yet, is that we will always remain Leeds fans, regardless of what happens. But turning out at ER week in week out and giving you hard earned cash to a multi millionair is sending him the wrong message. New owners PLEASE, and bates OUT! New owners will equal 32,000 home gates. (We all know that!)

Agree1 Disagree0

Sure this wouldn't damage the club and agree with alot o what you say.

But boycotting is putting the team morale at a massive disadvantage.

No 12th man (crowd and atmosphere that warnock has pointed out time after time) at home games could hurt us massively!

And I for one would prefer the points! No matter how much I disagree with bates and his decisions of runnin our club!

The sooner he goes the better! But unfortunately in this day and age points are far more important! And bates knows this! He knows he had one of the best supported teams in the world! And he knows he will keep earning profit. Hence the reason I don't see him going anywhere soon.

Although I hope I'm wrong and he does one sooner rather than later.

LUFCLUKE

Agree1 Disagree1

Even though I agree with your sentiments about Bates I personally believe if the income drops off by us not attending games he will just bang us back into administration, which will really screw up the club altogether and not affect his personal income or wealth he will just off load all the debt back onto the club and we will be back to square one again deep in the crap with no way out, any other potential buyer would not touch us with a barge poll knowing the intricate web Bates has weaved to hide money, basically Bates has got us by the short and curly ones and which ever way it goes he will come out of it with his wealth intact and probably be allowed to invest in some other poor club like Portsmouth and do the same thing all over again.

Agree2 Disagree2

Brilliant post,.. Bates couldnt give a monkeys chuff about Leeds, he hates us and has said as much in the past. The time to stand together is now and stay away from ER and all LUFC merchandise. Sadly our loyal support equates to huge profitability for bates. He knows this,..you are completely right, we must stay away in order to hasten Bates departure.

Remember all who would contest this course of action....

BATES JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY.

Not interested in a squad to get to the prem,..whats the betting that if Tom Lees has a good first half of the season he will be wearing a norwich shirt come jan.

Wake up and smell the coffee time.

BOYCOTT ER = BATES EVENTUAL DEPARTURE

LLHB MOT

Agree2 Disagree0

What a load of old clap trap. are you mad?

yes lets get ourselves into a position where we
- dont get income
- damage morale on the pitch leading to poor performances leading to football failure
- end up in a position where we cannot pay bills
- look towards administration because of this
- due to previous history we cannot salvage administration and go in to liquidation
- end up forming a new leeds united in the combined counties league (i.e. div 9 or 10) waaaay below farsley, afc wimbledon
- sob into our beers every night because our club of nearly 100 years has disappeared
- then reflect on ourselves that we caused this cos we're stubborn old fools - we tried to play stubborn old kenny at his own game and we end up the losers

just think about it. stay away? my ar$e. are you millwall or something?

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree with the poster on this 1
for those saying we woulod go into administration im sure bates would sell us before that stage... as stubborn as he is he wouldnt risk losing everything when he knows theres an offer on the table

Agree1 Disagree0

I've got my ticket for the Hull game and i'm going, Nothing, and i mean nothing will ever stop me going to support the team i love, turning up and actually giving the team your vocal and physical precence is what its all about.

Agree0 Disagree1

Are you millwall or something?

No we are not, we simply have differing opinions, we are Leeds supporters, myself like the original poster for nearly 40 years, in my eyes no other team exists and it breaks my heart to see what BAtes is doing to OUR club. We simply hold a view as stated above that continual patronage of bates united will ensure he remains. Please if we disagree lets keep it civilised at all costs. If you go to ER i for one respect your decision to do so and hope you enjoy your time there.
LLHB MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

How in hells name is staying away when as season ticket holders he has already got our money you person. not buying any thing while you are at a game including food and drink is worth while but staying away is just plain stupid

Agree0 Disagree1

How would boycotting the next 2 games even if you have bought tickets help if you have bought tickets he has your money so why the hell would he care? think about it..

Agree0 Disagree0

Boycotting the matches would clearly have an effect on the club and the players. Of course the players will still get paid, that is until the money runs out (look at Portsmouth). If this happened then the only alternative would be administration (again).

The current situation is that Ken Bates owns Leeds Utd whether people like it or not. Clearly other parties are interested in purchasing the club and for what ever reason no deal has yet been concluded, nobody knows the reasons and anything that is in the public domain is pure speculation. Boycotting matches would have a huge effect on the team and the club financially.

Agree0 Disagree0

LLHB MOT - thank god there are still fans like you, i am of the belief that we should go and support our team but i understand those that choose to vote with their feet so to speak. Yet just for me stating on one of the many Leeds forums that i will still go i got abuse being told i wasnt a proper fan etc. For me i love leeds and watching them and singing for them too much to just walk away it by no means makes me a rubbish fan.

LUFC RC

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with suggestions but I support the team not the owner and will always attend. THE BEST WAY is to come up with a song / chant where the entire fanbase POINTS towards KB box at the ground and tells him to get out. Make him uncomfortable at Elland Rd and he's gone. If u cant show up at place of work your time is limited. Telling true fans to stay away ? never gonna work

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering that leeds are a self-sufficient club and their running costs are mostly ran by season ticket holders and gate reciepts then by boycotting games you might be sending a 'message' to Bates but your always harming the finances of leeds. Think about it, what consortium wants to buy into a team where the fans are boycotting games? I for one are more than happy with supporting Neil and the Lads in a season where we have a realistic chance of actually making an impact!

Remember, when it comes down to it we're extremely lucky that we still have a team playing in this division.

GET BEHIND THE LADS
MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Instead of boycotting games, we should have a 'sit in' after home games and protest. This way the team still gets our support, but we still get our point across too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Show me the evidence that Bates is leeching your, our, anyones money?

Dont suggest or insinuate or couch your reply in ways that may look like that is what he is doing. Show me the evidence and quote sources with good credentials.

I wont hold my breath.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with just about everything you have stated. Salt will be rubbed further into the wounds when Beckford chooses Grayson & Hudds Twn over LUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

GET A GRIP ! look in the dictionary for definition of SUPPORTER !!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute nonsense. You want to show him who's in charge...he is you muppet, he OWNS the club. Also who do you think will buy a club where the fans don't turn up to games? and as for the suggestion that people don't go to games 'even if you've already bought tickets', how's that supposed to work when he already has your money? you really haven't thought that one through have you!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a rumour, but a question. Why do we have to wait for the 25man squad to be concluded and the loan window to be open when there have been plenty of loans concluded in the run up to the transfer window? I mean there have been plenty of players that we have been linked with both past and present that have already snapped up I.e. Spearing, Beckford to udders nearly, Billy Sharpe, Josh McEachran etc. So why do we have to wait until all the best players are snapped up by other clubs? Mot

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Because where Leeds when do we do anything wright.

Agree0 Disagree0

All the other loans were during the transfer window. When this shut, loan moves are included. That's why we have to wait until the emergency loan window opens.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's right!

no news on the take over today , the meeting is simply the legal teams continuing disscussions , none of the big players are in attendance. bates still in monaco and haigh still in Dubai

Jenas could be up for loan to a championship club, surely this could be a option

Sydney Leeds

Believable50 Unbelievable37

Jenas could be up for loan to a premiership team too

Agree1 Disagree1

He has just been named in their 25 man squad, why would they name him and then loan him out? David Bentley is not in the squad. Therefore I would guess that he is more likely to be available on loan.

Agree1 Disagree0

Stoke have a massive squad and one player who won't get a game, has connections with NW and would go out on loan to a championship team is Michael Tonge.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very injury prone.

Agree1 Disagree0

His wages will be too big for Bates. so not even gonna get my hopes up about a name signing like that, its pathetic really.

Agree1 Disagree0

Not bad! If you want to fill the treatment table and not the squad.
mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was to go to a championship club, you would have to assume it would be Forest.

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, if he was going to play for free

Agree0 Disagree0

Bentley is in the 25 man squad. Out of interest how can we afford these players. When are fans gonna undertand as long as Bates is here no more signings. Players will go out before they come in (unless the takeover ever gets finalised)

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol jenas would in no way improve our team, hes always injured n since when has he ever been a big name like someone said? we need players who play week after week not month after month just cus hes a prem player dnt make him any good.

Agree0 Disagree1

Still have to name 8 homegrown players in the squad hence jenas and Bentley being named, doesn't mean they will play. Bentley is off to Russia on loan now.

If the supposed take over does collapse tomorrow, and the fans want to vent their anger at Bates, how about the opposite of a boycott go to a game, support the lads, then have a fans sit in within ER, not even the Police would try to shift 20 odd thousand fans out of the ground and it would cost Bates money as it would need policing as the protest is "inside the ground" and not in a public area where after his recent court victory
the police would foot the bill and not old KB. THOUGHTS ANYONE

Believable60 Unbelievable16

Exactly bates won't fund it yet again Leeds united will do stupid idea

Agree0 Disagree0

Good idea. Even better. We should mock him by wearing a Captain Birds Eye wig and beard or Papa Smurf clothing with Pen4ken tshirts. Get under his skin. Entice television crews down there!! We need rid of this man. We love our club so much these are lengths we will go to. Let's embarrass him. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

To sit in at ER you have to pay, Bates will wet himself laughing at that. Not a good idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smart idea is that. Problem i have with all these protest is it will ultimately hamper the teams performance and make NW job that bit more difficult. To truly defeat the beast i think we should just forget about him and crack on. I work for a horrible boss but i never let him get to me... i just crack on and still do a sterling job :) MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates wont care if you sit there all night. Any policing costs would be met by the club and leave us with even less money. Your idea stinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from which, we haven't got a game of any sort until the 15th, let alone a home game!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only way you could really hurt Pappa~Smurf would be to boycott the games and no one buy tickets.

Obviously that would damage the club financially and we don't want to go down that road again.

We have to sit tight and one day our dreams will come true.

Agree0 Disagree0

If takeover does not transpire we need to all go to Elland Road but not go in the stadium. Support the team, no anti-bates chants and show all potential new owner we are here and want to support our team but not willing to let the parasite bleed us dry any longer. Only option as far as I can see. Fan need to realise WE CAN PLAY A ROLE. None of this it will work out one day rubbish!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think any boycott of any sort hurts Leeds United not Ken Bates. He will be sat in luxury in Monaco so prob wont even notice your there. And he has millions in the bank so wont care if Leeds United has to pay for extra security as it wont come out of his pocket. You really want to hurt him pop over to Monaco and squat in his house

Agree0 Disagree0

A boycott of ER hurts Ken Bates most of all. The financial situation of the club is on a knife edge and should the cashflow be caused to fail (as it would by a boycott) then Bates would have 2 options - admin or sale.

Either way,. he'd be gone. I don't really see what difference admin would make to this season. I think we'd finish mid table regardless.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like this lets do it

Agree0 Disagree0

To the first reply bates would foot the bill as the protest would be inside ER and not on the public highway which is where the POlice would start to pay or should that read the rate payers of LEeds

Agree0 Disagree0

I like this too. If we got 40,000 in the ground for the everyone game the atmosphere would be brilliant. We support the team during the game, but sit in after hanting bates out. The team win the game, so they win, we create national, even world attention, so we win too. sky win because they cover the news. Bates actually wins cos he gets more money from the gate which contributes to paying police to get rid of us.
But ultimately the world now knows.
This is only going to work though if we get 40,000. One way to make sure we all go is to pay ed for our tickets which he gets. The only downside is I actually might meet some of you persons.
Leedsnwhacky

Agree0 Disagree0

Boycott? Give it a break FFS and get behind the team. We all know what an awful place ER is when the fans get on the Club's back. We are Leeds, through and through and should be supporting our team onwards and upwards - Bates or no Bates.

Slingsby White

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a bad idea, better still, why not just boycott LU matches until Bates goes.
The team will have to play to empty stands for a few weeks, but at least it will get rid of Bates.

Agree0 Disagree0
