Apparently Leicester are also after him, so we may struggle for that one.

Just a rumour I heard. The lad who said it usually gets things right. Would be a good addition but I'm not holding my breath.

Heard from a good source that lee naylor formerly of wolves celtic and cardiff will be our left back next season

I dont thin he would be any better tha paul robinson what is worrying me warnock said he ewwanted to fetch players in that will add value if we was going to sigh a left back joe mattock is now available a one time future englan internation he lost his way

Not a rumour but a thought...If Andy Lonergan does leave, then rather than Paddy Kenny, would any of us welcome Rob Green, Jussi Jaaskelainen or Alex McCarthy instead? Or anyone else for that matter?

Also, I'm in the Welsh Valleys, and the Peter Whittingham rumours and still doing the rounds, although the most plausible is that we have made an enquiry about his availability. Would he fit in?

Our Keeper is not the problem its that terrible crap defence.Schmeichel was blamed the season before in my opinion a class keeper.

Lonergan would move on for about £1mill, probably talking about £2mill for McCarthy.

I agree, my choice would be McCarthy too. Craig Gordon is available too, hasn't had a lot of game-time, but would be hungry for it and is deffo good enough...

I would have Rob Green and Alex McCarthy as second choice - Jussi is a good keeper and could probably do a job for us but he is getting older and we are trying to build a young team!

I'd have McCarthy back in a heartbeat but I still don't know why we sold Schmeichel.

McCarthy is quality, but unrealistic I think in terms of the required fee. If we got promoted, I would certainly have him.

You have all overlooked the fact that he was demanding £50,000 a week from west ham to stay ! why would he come to us when we can't even offer him £10,000 !

Alex McCarthy for me is top class and should be signed at all cost. He could be a Leeds legend if given the chance.

Regarding Joel Ward. One of my mates knows his girlfriend and apparently she's very close to her family that live down south and apparently she couldn't bear to leave so that's why he joined palace. I just hope that this doesn't affect how Pearce plays since he's not with his mate anymore. I know it's old news and I think this takeover can only be good for the club if it happens.

Don't think pearce can base his career on whether his mate plays at the same club.

odd comment really imo.

I doubt this would really affect his decision at all. All of Howson's friends and family are from Leeds, but he's gone to a club on the other side of the country, so it hasn't affected him. I doubt it's much different for Ward.

You've managed to throw away £2.5m + Adam Clayton with a few taps on your keyboard and it's way past the time to get over the likes of Beckford and Gradel ... they had their chance, they chose to leave, get over it. We have Robbie Rogers to replace Gradel, who is yet untried but is a full US international recommended by Klinsman and we have Davide Somma to replace Beckford, oh, and we still have McCormack so until his situation is resolved I think we have other priorities ... sort out the midfield Mr Warnock {Ed037's Note - I think the defence is a top priority tbh}

You are of course correct Ed ... I was suggesting other priorities and that Jason Pearce + suggests the defence is already work in progress. {Ed037's Note - Yeah, i agree, shame about Ward though, but it's all in the past i suppose}

Why does it seem that everyone's suggested team includes so many ex-Leeds players, they have moved on and so should we. If the takeover rumours are true and NW is given appropriate funds then I suggest he should be able to do better. This would also be backed up by the fact that so many of these ex players are once again available.

I actually think that's a great line-up, and one that could happen if we get a bit of cash on takeover (though it wouldn't require that much). Most of all, big yes to Halford, Boyd and Beckford in particular; and of course we'd take Gradel if would come. Would need to know a bit more about Green to be convinced; likewise about how Kilgallon's developed since he left us as a very promising youngster (hasn't really settled anywhere ). But a good shout all told -think you have more idea than some of your knockers!

I was under the assumption that a meeting had been scheduled for Tuesday pm so Whats with this Wednesday B/S ?.... Dream on son

I know bates has been treating leeds like a cash ow but being taken over by a company that deals in dairy products maye they will rename elland road the milking cow shed

Probably just a sponsorship deal as they own lurpak who have sponsored us in the past

Colin told bates and Harvey to either 1 have the takeover in position or 2 enough funds to make at least a couple of signings on his return. If this does not happen he will resign.
It's known in football circles that I come across.

Hearing different things buddy we missed out on ward beause he has a lot of commitment down south and didnt want to leave home out of the 3 offers on the table palace offered less wages ipswitch offered 7 we offered 5 pallace paying 3.5 k also with new investers coming in warnok will not have to prowl through the freebie market as from friday he will be able to pay transfer fees he has been gauranteed 10 mill for thsi transfer period and if we in contention come january he has been told another 10 mill inevitable warnock will sign some freebies becuase he is connected to some of them and expect signing form friday onwards

Doesn't sound plausible on the basis that the investment talks will mean a self imposed transfer embargo is in place so there will be no funds available until it is complete and it would be difficult to put an exact timescale on the negotiations.

The deal has been done the only stumbling block was for tom ricketts selling his shares in derby county he is currently undergoing f a cheks as he will become the majoroty share holder due dilligence to be completed my tuesday

Current rumours linking Joey Barton to the club. I for one wouldn't welcome him, brings a bad image to us! So, team for next season, based on rumours :

Barton is not welcome, I would welcome any hard and fair player. But not an unfair dirty one....

Not heard this rumour but would be a good signing but i dont thin it will happen why spend all that money paying a player that will miss a quarter of the season before he is elligible to play for you maybe wait untill xmas after he has served his 12 math ban

Why do people think becford is the man, only did anything in league one, failed at everton and leciester, simple not good enough.

Why do ppl keep saying beckford failed at everton . everton never have much money and 4 mil was too much to miss out on for a player they got for free also beckford was there top scorer and played in a lone striker or off the bench for most of is time there. at Leicester he played much more games but the whole team under achieved and beckford will be on top form again this season coming who ever hes at

I cant see how you can say Barton will give us a bad name we are already dirty Leeds so what else can they call us dirty dirty Leeds oh sorry they already do that don't they . Barton would be the ideal player for our midfield if he can control his temper a little bit . midfield players should all have alot of aggression its just a matter of controlling it .

Wouldn't happen, poor attitude and temperament, also can't see warnock wanting him with joey barton's comments about him.

Get real, Barton must be on 50k+ a week at QPR, we can't pay that in the Championship.
Do not get carried away with the takeover rumour we will not become the "Man City" of our league.

Barton is a gifted footballer but also an absolute PUNT with a capital P (or other letter somewhat further back down the alphabet).

A disciplinary record on the field that would make strong men shudder... and a record off the field that brings into disrepute the word disrepute... it's not hard enough.

We should not touch him with a 10 foot pole covered in a maxi-thickness ten foot condom.
