i heard that leeds are after calderon(brighton) and mackail-smith(peterbrough) both in my opinion would be good additions. however i havent seen this any where for a while but i heard a few few weeks ago about QPR lad akos busacky. i think he is a quality plAyer and has worked with NW so could work in our favour. hope takeover happens sooner rather than later so we can really stamp our intentions before pre season with a strong team. danny c

Believable5 Unbelievable37

Mackail-Smith joined Brighton last summer for in exess of 2m i doubt we'll spend that amount on a failed Championship striker file him under dud with billy paynter.

Agree0 Disagree0

That the same mackail smith that plays for Brighton !!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Need to get the teams they play for right to make it a bit more believable mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackail-Smith is out of favour at Brighton, did not play last few games and was sub for most of those. He was a possible transfer listed player at the end of the season, but not sure now. We would not spend that much on a player who was off his game??!!

Fitz hall on his way to leeds. :)

Believable8 Unbelievable32

This has been said before, so what makes you any different with this rumour, or did you dream this.
mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Leicester are also after him, so we may struggle for that one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a rumour I heard. The lad who said it usually gets things right. Would be a good addition but I'm not holding my breath.

I heard that Leeds utd are first in line to get the signature of Naismith of rangers any one else heard this

Believable13 Unbelievable37

His release clause is 2 mill. you really think that's gonna happen?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope this is true , hes a great player

and on another note it great to see barton getting a t**ting

leeds forever mot lufc

Agree0 Disagree0

My friends cousin is Naismith and he has been told he is going to go to everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we want Naismith? I am an exiled Yorkshireman who happens to live in Scotland and watch SPL when I get desperately bored. The quality of SPL players is no better than moderate championship players. Villa got the best in Carlos Cuella. £2 million for Naismith, you really need to get off your prescription drugs asap. Jedburgh White

Gary Naysmith has just been released by Huddersfield. It could be him

Heard from a good source that lee naylor formerly of wolves celtic and cardiff will be our left back next season

Believable6 Unbelievable30

I dont thin he would be any better tha paul robinson what is worrying me warnock said he ewwanted to fetch players in that will add value if we was going to sigh a left back joe mattock is now available a one time future englan internation he lost his way

not a rumour as such, whats the betting that norwich try to poach warnock, theyve tried signing our whole midfield!

Believable24 Unbelievable29

More like what's the betting villa try to poach our players instead!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be nice if we went up and norwich went down, sorry howson + johnson ur not wanted
Hobnob10

Agree0 Disagree0

As has been intimated elsewhere NW has likely come to Leeds on the understanding of 'one more big job' in him before he retires. Also a distinct possibility NW knew about the takeover and hitherto transfer budget prior to putting pen to paper with LUFC and KB. NW would not move to Leeds with the kind to transfer war chest Larry had to put up with. He's not going to Naarich!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would they want Warnock, he's a championship manager. They will be aiming higher than Neil mate for sure.

Not a rumour but a thought...If Andy Lonergan does leave, then rather than Paddy Kenny, would any of us welcome Rob Green, Jussi Jaaskelainen or Alex McCarthy instead? Or anyone else for that matter?

Also, I'm in the Welsh Valleys, and the Peter Whittingham rumours and still doing the rounds, although the most plausible is that we have made an enquiry about his availability. Would he fit in?

Jody {Ed037's Note - I'd be more than happy with Green and McCarthy, but Jussi's getting on abit}

Believable15 Unbelievable11

Id rather have mccarthy. promising young keeper who needs 1st team football which he wont get at Reading.

LJHS

Agree0 Disagree0

Green is going to Spain. I'd love McCarthy but I reckon we're stuck with kenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Our Keeper is not the problem its that terrible crap defence.Schmeichel was blamed the season before in my opinion a class keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lonergan would move on for about £1mill, probably talking about £2mill for McCarthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, my choice would be McCarthy too. Craig Gordon is available too, hasn't had a lot of game-time, but would be hungry for it and is deffo good enough...

Jody

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have Rob Green and Alex McCarthy as second choice - Jussi is a good keeper and could probably do a job for us but he is getting older and we are trying to build a young team!

PeteMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have McCarthy back in a heartbeat but I still don't know why we sold Schmeichel.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCarthy is quality, but unrealistic I think in terms of the required fee. If we got promoted, I would certainly have him.

Agree0 Disagree0

You have all overlooked the fact that he was demanding £50,000 a week from west ham to stay ! why would he come to us when we can't even offer him £10,000 !

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex McCarthy for me is top class and should be signed at all cost. He could be a Leeds legend if given the chance.

Theres been some talk on here about Barton coming to Leeds but dont think colin would ever sign him again after the way Barton slated the way Warnock had QPR playing right after he had been sacked, Barton basically said glad he has gone, anyway why would we want a player that is a liability....MOT ! Dave

Believable8 Unbelievable23

Why would we want a player who can't play while December due to his ban. JD

Regarding Joel Ward. One of my mates knows his girlfriend and apparently she's very close to her family that live down south and apparently she couldn't bear to leave so that's why he joined palace. I just hope that this doesn't affect how Pearce plays since he's not with his mate anymore. I know it's old news and I think this takeover can only be good for the club if it happens.

Believable25 Unbelievable4

Don't think pearce can base his career on whether his mate plays at the same club.

odd comment really imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt this would really affect his decision at all. All of Howson's friends and family are from Leeds, but he's gone to a club on the other side of the country, so it hasn't affected him. I doubt it's much different for Ward.

Realistic players to pull on the mighty white shirt again that I would accept back: Frazer Richardson, Andy Hughes, Matt killgallon and jermaine beckford.

Believable16 Unbelievable27

Andy huges top utility man but i agree with ya

Agree0 Disagree0

Why beckford, he has done nothing since leaving. not good enough against better defenders than in div one.

Agree0 Disagree0

SMITHY ?? you have to admit he is better than brown and loves the club could help bring on the youngsters and would wear the shirt with pride he only went to scum because they were the only team willing to pay up front for him and no he never kissed the scum badge

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo all good players - Andy Hughes might be a bit old but he can still put a good shift in and would be invaluable as a coach for the youngsters

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy Hughes would always put a shift in for Leeds he loves the club. Second poster - how quickly you forget beckford was a hero in a Leeds shirt, any one wi sense would welcome the prodigal son back wi open arms. Third poster - I don't have to agree with you that he is better. They are both as bad and useless as eachother. Smith hasn't been a good player since riise broke his leg - FACT and yes we all know Lorimer spoke out in his defence and he prob went to scum for all the right reasons, but he is shocking now, he is a better motocross champion than footballer now so jog on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Becchio and Beckford were and would be a devastating strike force, defenders wouldn't know what to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster 2 beckford would reignite at elland road the reason beckford has struggled comes in 1 word becchio in an interview he credited becchio for half his goals and 10 goals in premiership thats hadly doing nothing its better goal to game ratio than torres at chelsea and beckford @everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who thinks Hughes and Richardson are good enough to get us to the premiership should go and watch Guiseley. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't knock Guiseley. If you want to see good attacking football then get up to Nethermoor, its a third of the price to what it costs to watch Leeds and a much better standard of football. They have players who are actually comfortable in possession.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree except for Hughes. Yes he always put a shift in, but I was never impressed by his ability. He was a League 1 standard utility player. He's old and finished now, so he'll be at League 2 standard. Really not worth it. He did his job in League 1, but that's all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with eighth post Andy Hughes wasnt good enough for league one although he tried hard

Kenny
Halford Pearce Killgallon White
Snodgrass Green Boyd Gradel
Becchio Beckford

Kenny 500k
Halford 250k
Killgallon 250k
green free
boyd 500k
gradel 1 million
beckford 1.5 million + clayton

Believable7 Unbelievable28

On what grounds does everyone keep thinking Gradel would be interested in coming back? Get someone to undo the straps behind your back and re-enter the real world. sjo5050

Agree0 Disagree0

Grades and becks won't return to Leeds it in the past now we have to look for new heroes.MOT!!

Agree0 Disagree0

You've managed to throw away £2.5m + Adam Clayton with a few taps on your keyboard and it's way past the time to get over the likes of Beckford and Gradel ... they had their chance, they chose to leave, get over it. We have Robbie Rogers to replace Gradel, who is yet untried but is a full US international recommended by Klinsman and we have Davide Somma to replace Beckford, oh, and we still have McCormack so until his situation is resolved I think we have other priorities ... sort out the midfield Mr Warnock {Ed037's Note - I think the defence is a top priority tbh}

Agree0 Disagree0

You are of course correct Ed ... I was suggesting other priorities and that Jason Pearce + suggests the defence is already work in progress. {Ed037's Note - Yeah, i agree, shame about Ward though, but it's all in the past i suppose}

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does it seem that everyone's suggested team includes so many ex-Leeds players, they have moved on and so should we. If the takeover rumours are true and NW is given appropriate funds then I suggest he should be able to do better. This would also be backed up by the fact that so many of these ex players are once again available.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think that's a great line-up, and one that could happen if we get a bit of cash on takeover (though it wouldn't require that much). Most of all, big yes to Halford, Boyd and Beckford in particular; and of course we'd take Gradel if would come. Would need to know a bit more about Green to be convinced; likewise about how Kilgallon's developed since he left us as a very promising youngster (hasn't really settled anywhere ). But a good shout all told -think you have more idea than some of your knockers!

Deal to be done when Warnock returns on Friday. Warnock in it all along as It takes months for a takeover to reach an advanced stage. Money should be given to Warnock ASAP and lets get buying!!!

Believable22 Unbelievable8

Simple, on practically every level. Eternal optimism is the one redeeming feature.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really expect to have Barrow loads of cash to dish out after the takeover, I for one doubt it - optomism is good but it must be tinged with a little reality or you will be sadly dissapointed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, it's nice to feel a little optimistic but whether he buys your Kilgallons and Beckfords or your Messis and Ronaldos it will take a considerable time to mould the team into a unit that's capable of taking us up.
First we have to make Elland Rd a fortress once again because last season was the worst season at home I can recall. However the faithfuls' spirits rarely subsided.
JB

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest whoever invests/takes over Leeds will give more money to Warnock to spend on players. If they didn't there would be no point in a takeover as the only problem with bates is the transfere budget. So whatever happens more money wil surely be injected or wtf is going on!

Bolton looking at Lonners to replce Jussi, Coyle likes him apparantly

Believable33 Unbelievable6

If they pay up for him they can have him, decent keeper but we can do better

Agree0 Disagree0

There are 4 or 4 keepers out there on the released list

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree there are better keepers available for free, rather see us sign one of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good i will drive him to bolton myself worst keeper we have had in a long time {Ed013's Note - Rubbish}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like something which could be true tbh, I reckon lonners will be keen to go back to Lancashire. {Ed013's Note - When I said Rubbish^ I mean the comment, not the player!}

Agree0 Disagree0

As a season ticket holder of 11 years and renewed for next season i am entitled to my opinion he is rubbsh {Ed013's Note - Yes you are, so surely you being a season ticket holder for a while, you must have a short memory of the tosh that have been there since the Premiership days!}

Colin told bates and Harvey to either 1 have the takeover in position or 2 enough funds to make at least a couple of signings on his return. If this does not happen he will resign.
It's known in football circles that I come across.

Believable10 Unbelievable24

Hearing different things buddy we missed out on ward beause he has a lot of commitment down south and didnt want to leave home out of the 3 offers on the table palace offered less wages ipswitch offered 7 we offered 5 pallace paying 3.5 k also with new investers coming in warnok will not have to prowl through the freebie market as from friday he will be able to pay transfer fees he has been gauranteed 10 mill for thsi transfer period and if we in contention come january he has been told another 10 mill inevitable warnock will sign some freebies becuase he is connected to some of them and expect signing form friday onwards

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't sound plausible on the basis that the investment talks will mean a self imposed transfer embargo is in place so there will be no funds available until it is complete and it would be difficult to put an exact timescale on the negotiations.

Agree0 Disagree0

The deal has been done the only stumbling block was for tom ricketts selling his shares in derby county he is currently undergoing f a cheks as he will become the majoroty share holder due dilligence to be completed my tuesday

Who's Colin? Might sound daft me saying this but... {Ed013's Note - Colin is Neil Warnock. When you jumble the letters in his name you get Colin ******}

With West Ham admitting Rob Green will leave on a free, and speculation growing that QPR are interested in his signature then this adds further strength to a Kenny-Leeds move (sorry I know this isn't a new rumour)

Believable19 Unbelievable3

Lonergan interseting Bolton according to local reports in the town.

Wanderers are plotting a move for Leeds United keeper Andy Lonergan. Owen Coyle wants experienced competition for Adam Bogdan next season and has drawn up a shortlist of half a dozen possible candidates, headed by the 28-year-old former Preston North End stopper.
Lonergan was first choice at Elland Road and also captained the side for a spell last season, but with Neil Warnock looking to bring in his trusted former charge Paddy Kenny from QPR, he could be made available.

Rangers are delaying the move until they have signed a replacement and have been heavily linked with Birmingham's £5million-rated Ben Foster. Provided those two deals are sorted quickly, Coyle will start talking with Leeds over a player he has rated since his time in the Championship with Burnley.

Lonergan, who boasts four England Under-21 caps, signed for Leeds last summer after 11 years with his home-town club Preston. He made 38 appearances in league and cup last season as the Yorkshire side just missed out on the play-offs.

Jussi Jaaskelainen is closing in on a move to West Ham, and it is understood he will sign a one-year deal next week, subject to a medical.

Current rumours linking Joey Barton to the club. I for one wouldn't welcome him, brings a bad image to us! So, team for next season, based on rumours :
Kenny
Calderon Lees Pearce Hill
Snodders Boyd Green Templeton
Becchio Beckford

That would be a good team!
SJK

Believable6 Unbelievable28

Barton is not welcome, I would welcome any hard and fair player. But not an unfair dirty one....

Agree0 Disagree0

Not heard this rumour but would be a good signing but i dont thin it will happen why spend all that money paying a player that will miss a quarter of the season before he is elligible to play for you maybe wait untill xmas after he has served his 12 math ban

Agree0 Disagree0

Not heard of any links to calderon or boyd or templeton

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people think becford is the man, only did anything in league one, failed at everton and leciester, simple not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that your FM2012 team ?, very little chance we will line up like that. As for Barton - are you gonna pay his wages while he sits out his ban cos Ken will not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do ppl keep saying beckford failed at everton . everton never have much money and 4 mil was too much to miss out on for a player they got for free also beckford was there top scorer and played in a lone striker or off the bench for most of is time there. at Leicester he played much more games but the whole team under achieved and beckford will be on top form again this season coming who ever hes at

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see how you can say Barton will give us a bad name we are already dirty Leeds so what else can they call us dirty dirty Leeds oh sorry they already do that don't they . Barton would be the ideal player for our midfield if he can control his temper a little bit . midfield players should all have alot of aggression its just a matter of controlling it .

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't happen, poor attitude and temperament, also can't see warnock wanting him with joey barton's comments about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get real, Barton must be on 50k+ a week at QPR, we can't pay that in the Championship.
Do not get carried away with the takeover rumour we will not become the "Man City" of our league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barton is a gifted footballer but also an absolute PUNT with a capital P (or other letter somewhat further back down the alphabet).

A disciplinary record on the field that would make strong men shudder... and a record off the field that brings into disrepute the word disrepute... it's not hard enough.

We should not touch him with a 10 foot pole covered in a maxi-thickness ten foot condom.
