Signing of new players put on hold until virus in the Leeds camp has subsided. Potential new players unable to take tour of our "superb facilities" and currently unable to meet the gaffer who has been struct down. Club were hoping to have a couple of players in for tomorrow but likely to be middle of next week at the earliest.

With video conferencing and virtual tour video and knowing who they want I find this hard to believe. Mick Jones is fit and well as is Shaun Harvey.

Cant work out if your serious are not but it shouldnt make a difference matter what virus is about.doesnt stop us signing players.just means they couldnt pay homage yet.MOT

Reported on ssn that we have made a official bid for blackstock between 700.000 and 800.000

Really think the money should go on a lively playmaker or a no nonsense batty type

With all the hype and pull of the GFH takeover were all getting excited about a £800, 000 transfer ! You have to laugh.... Are they simply trying to pacify the crowd and show their playing the game. This doesnt impress me at all. A good quality striker in the £2-3m bracket would have indicated a serious intention to progress. My expectations for the clubs are not high for this season but this is not filling me with enthusiasm or excitement. Click BELIEVABLE if your excited and this delivers or UNBELIEVABLE if this is below your expectations.

Happy with Blackstock, who is better than what we already have as back-up for Becchs, and a decent Champ striker -provided we also get a midfield playmaker (Boyd) and a wide man (such as Templeton or Buckley). Happy with the defence -that's not where the problems lie. Chapel A

If Leeds fail in the bid to sign Dexter Blackstock, Warnock will turn to Troy Deeney at Watford.

According to SSN, Watford are offering him a new deal, which for a player who has scored 8 goals in last 10 games and only has 6 months contract left, is normal

It also says this is to stem the advances of Aston villa, so i think it unlikely we could outbid their effort

Deeney is a powerful leader of the line, and can finish too, as we saw at E Rd in April; would be very pleased to see him here, just a shame we didn't have the cash to snap him up a while ago, before the big clubs were alerted as to his potential. Chapel A

I was hoping that the rumours were false as don't rate him but there again think warnock has lost his drive and we should look at changing him before we waste money on his targets

Thanks ghf for the ambition shown dexter is a player that shows how far we slumped in terms of real quality players we are goin for what about Austin, mackell-smith, Jerome, Campbell or mad max these are the names we need dexter can't even get in the forest side either warnock hasn't got the money to buy real quality or he has lost the plot dexter will not get us to prem this season or next average player at best fed up : ( {Ed013's Note - They don't choose the signings!}

Can't be a bad backup option to Becchio. I'm fine with that, but as long as it doesn't restrict our ability to buy a winger with pace and a CM who can actually pass.

Ed I know they don't choose signings but they can say no or suggest someone else it's their club when warnocks gone becchios to hit and miss need a new striker prem class use becchio as backup or as insentive to pull ones finger out {Ed013's Note - They have to back their manager and trust him}

That would be great if true.But Trotter is valued a lot higher than that by millwall....think we paid 250k for varney(why??) So 1.75m, don't see it somehow!!KEA

Just explain this... is this something you would do, an offer you are kinda trying to stir up because you would like to see it happen - ie you are trying to create a rumour - or is it actually a rumour? Because I think a lot of people dont know the meaning of the word rumour around here.

Is it just me or is it deadly quiet on the transfer front? Apart from Tongue and the news that Blackstock is staying at Florest there's no rumours at all...hopefully things will gather pace soon!

ive been thinking the same thing theres usually every player that anyone can think of coming but im guessing alot of fans have decided theres no1 coming

Yorkshire post says blackstock signing has suffered a setback as McLeish doesnt want to sell.

Doesnt mean he's defo staying put.

Keep hearing about John Stead coming in as back up for Becchio. Decent all round player just doesnt score enough! Another name doing the rounds.. Lewis McGuigan from Forerst for a cut price 600, 000. Classy player but a little inconsistant. Maybe ER will inspire him. {Ed013's Note - God help us}

well day 4 of jan and no new players didnt warnock say something about getting deals in place so they could be done, GFH Capital appear to be following the Bates model of doing everything on the cheap whilst milking the fans for all their worth. Great take over I must say!

Dont be too quick to call them out, it's still very early, give them some time!

Only 4 days gone and plenty of time to buy or loan players and new owners only in 2 weeks . are you the a sad hudds fan who seem more obsessed with our club than your own .

We wont know exactly how ambitious the new owners are about building a team until next september . i know its annoying because we have waited so long for the takeover and this is our 9th year outside the prem but thats life .

That's a bit harsh, judging GFH after two weeks in charge and only 4 days into the transfer window! I'm sure talks are ongoing all the time with clubs/players, but these things take time and we want the best deals for the club.
I for one am glad it hasn't been announced that maybe we have a lot of money and/or a wealthy backer, because clubs would rip us off!

Bates is still chairman. However GFH have stated "we are very much in charge". Salem also said "we won't be spending crazy money in january". It's just hopefully their idea of normal money is above and beyond what Bates was.

I agree, this is starting to look like a smokescreen, are they just a front for Bates, the transfer window is always january 1st, agents would have been touting players weeks ago, we would have had deals in place ages ago, you dont start looking January, you start signing players, I heard we missed out on Chris Woods, with Warnock saying once Leicester bid we couldnt compete, so what he's saying is aslong as none of our competitors want our targets we are ok, Roll on GFH, false hope again, new owners same tripe, as they said we dont need to be in prem for there model to work, sounds like Mr Bates to me!

Technically there was a deal we bought Hall on the 1st :)

Contract season is upon us.
Completely incorrect to think that deals would be in-place, just waiting for January to come around.
December is usually when contract negotiation commences where players extend their contract beyond the end of the season (because after January, they can pre-sign a contract with another club for when their current deal runs out and walk away on a free).
There many fewer agents than footballers, They can't be everywhere at once. Give it time.

And as I've stated on another post; the business model doesn't rely on Premiershipfootball simply means GFH are not going to bankrupt the club chasing success.
In a way, this does echo Bates's approach but surely we can all see the sense in not imploding like we did 10 years ago after mortgaging our very existence on success that never came.

Why would GFH suddenly spend loads in the Jan window? you pay over the odds for average players, and it sends out a message that we're spenders which will only up the prices.

We've got a wage structure too, so getting people in will probably be difficult, cos if anyone wants a large salary, it could get other players backs up if they give in to their demands.

Couple this with not really wanting to sign people on long term contracts in case we get promoted and are lumbered with a load of non-premiership standard players, and it becomes a bit more obvious why we're struggling to get people in.

it's not all about the price tag, there's more to it.

If we get people in in Jan, they will be to enhance the squad, but at the right price, and for the right wages.

Real money wont get spent until the summer when they can realistically assess what we need to do to achieve their goals.

Dorrans got to be £3.5-4m. You cant realistically believe that we will offer this ? if we stuck in a laughable £2m offer it has as much chance of success as winning the league this season. Your forgetting our track record in the transfer market....aint gonna happen

No way is dorrans worth £4, realistically£1-75 at most, again wages will be a stumbling block.

Scott Sinclair to us seems a little ridiculous don't you think? a player who stood out in the premier league all last season and you're telling me no team in the premier league will want to loan him before us?
Dorrans would be a quality capture and has been told he can leave if they get a good enough deal for the player, they turned down a bid from west ham of £5million in 2010 and at 25 we realistically aren't going to get him a great deal cheaper, i'd say he's a £3million capture at the least, worth the money for him and Austin to boss our midfield

Jenas?? Why would we want a player that's more injury prone than Darren Anderton??? what did he achieve for Forest - One start, and they have sent him back.... would rather take a chance on Owen Hargreaves....
