Grayson spoke out about Peter Lorimer telling him to sell bechio a week before he was sacked...Thoughts?

I've heard a few negative things about Lorimer, whether there is any truth in it.

Lapdog for Bates

Lorimer was once a great footballing hero for Leeds United, quiet clearly over the past few year's he has just been another puppet of Ken Bates, as the saying goes "don't bite the hand that feeds you" Lorimer certainly hasn't done that has he ? Grayson did a great job for us considering the circumstances he worked under !

Lorimer was one of my heros but his input recently and these comments are turning him into a buffon and a puttpet for Bates. I hope he isn't on the board after the takeover and reverts back to being a legend

Agree1 Disagree1

I liked Grayson and think he got a raw deal at Leeds but thats a different conversation. Lorimer was a legend as a player but was also brought onto the board by Bates to try and appease the disgruntled fans. Everything I have heard him say has been either ill informed or vindictive.

Its a shame that a legend became a puppet for Bates. He will not be on the board next year.

Agree1 Disagree1

Grayson didn't have his eye on the ball when it came to the wider management responsibilities of the Club. His only interest was the first team and he had too many personal spats with players leaving him with a load of guys he wouldn't play. He fuelled the Bate Out mob as it took pressure off him, but did nothing for the team. It is sad to see him throwing mud about ahead of his return. Maybe some of the truth should now emerge about the end of his time at the Club.

How ever many ppl dnt rate becchio its clear hes been 1 of our best players in the past 2 or 3 years n all he needs is decent passes from ppl like brown who makes me sick 2 see just shoot instead of doing his job n passing same with tonge but atleast he passes abit more.

Agree0 Disagree1

It will have been true as they tried to raise funds in the window. Sell so you can buy. Bit different now or rather it will be in 5 weeks.

Agree0 Disagree1

Becchio needs 2 more goals i believe to get into the top 10 league goal scoreres for leeds i ithnk thats speak for itself, as for lorimer just doing what hes told im sure plus who cares reely what does he know lol hes not a manager

Agree0 Disagree1

Don't really care what grayson says , nothing to do with us anymore, not that i don't like the bloke, after all he is still a Leeds fan

Agree1 Disagree1

Peter Lorimer is a legend and has done so much for the club, Obviously cares about leeds but just got tied up with bates and his crook ways. No doubt he would of made him do his dirty laundry for him and told to tell SG to sell becchio. I do think NW has what it takes to get us into the PL with our players but no one apart from byram has a big future for us when we go up. On the other hand SG gaves us a younger more attacking and exited team with hardly any resouces just like NW, and to be fair a better team. If he was still manager with our new owners and backers imagine what team we'd have, already working wonders at huddersfield. Not sold our keys players and brought younger better and more competative talent! Bring him back to leeds where he belongs when NW retires! MOT

Here's another line of thought to consider... We all love Becchs -wholehearted, loyal servant, who has delivered in terms of goals over time, and epitomises the spirit of the club in many ways. However...since his serious injury vs Watford in April 2011, his general play (putting to one side goals scored) has been pretty poor, hasn't it? If back in last Jan, selling Becchs would have meant we could have kept our then captain, Jonny Howson, then we would have been left with a rather tasty dilemma. I for one know which one I would have chosen to keep. Then 23 year old captain, still developing his game, but tipped since his early days as a possible future England international, versus 28 year old trier, whose best days were looking like they might be behind him?... Jonny would be the one I'd have kept. Maybe that wasn't the choice SG was presented with, but just saying...Chapel A

It's disappointing that all this comes out just when we are entering a new dawn at ER under new ownership. Lorimer was a legend and I wish he wouldn't tarnish his reputation with some of the cheap shots he is coming out with.

Agree0 Disagree1

I feel sorry for Peter, he is still a legend in those of a certain ages eyes, but, as some people have said he has been led up the wrong path by the dark lord Bates. I was sat a couple of years ago, in front of Paul Reaney at a Carlisle game and he was just like any normal fan, seen Clarkey at the Doncaster final, another nice bloke. I hope that he does get pushed out by the new board if for nothing other than to protect his legendery status and not be remembered, particularly the younger fans, from being a puppet. MOT. i still love you peter, 90 miles an hour!!

Agree0 Disagree1

Or maybe, given we have a game against his new club, SG is playing mind games trying to divert the fans attention from given the team it's full support...it's in the past Becchio is still here, Lorimer will be gone from the board once the new regime takes full control and SG is now the manager of a bitter rival. We need to get fully behind the team and move forward - MOT

Unfortunately Peter played in the era before a player just needed one decent contract to be set up for life. He tried the Pub Landlord stunt like so many ex players of that time and just got fat like all the others that went down that road. I imagine he couldn't believe his luck when Papa Smurf offered him a job just to say YES Mr Bates. I doubt many of us in his position wouldn't have done the same. Good luck and thanks for the memories Peter, I for one suspect you might be out of work soon.

Agree0 Disagree1

I know Peter on a personal level and he does nothing but love the club and is a true Leeds fan like all of us. Everything he does is to help the club. So less of this slagging off an absolute Leeds legend. MOT

Agree1 Disagree3

I agree with one of the replies, why has SG brought the subject of lorimer telling him to sell beccio now, on the verge of both teams meeting, i like grayson but i suspect he might be jealous he aint at leeds anymore, a club he loves...

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol meself n many others would pick becchio over howson anyday works harder n much better n wtf someone said his general play is poor but put aside his goals? i think your find strikers r there to score the goals n he gets plenty

Agree0 Disagree0

Football is a bussiness i can remember once being offered £22 million for barry kewell and we lived to regret it, if peter lorimer was trying to sell luciano and bring in the big lad who went to reading might have been a good deal.
