My cousin plays in the first team for Leeds and will remain un-named but has told me that Joey Barton has written a letter to the management staff at Leeds asking for a meeting about the possibility of joining the club not only as a player but also to start his coaching badges with a view to further development. I know he has acted like a tosser for the most of his career but he seams quite grounded now. I would be very happy with this!

Yes I agree with you ,thought he would work well as a bit of protection and grit as Austen has gone .
He is still a quality player someone who can hold the ball ,just the wages really ,but if he comes knocking we should see if a deal can be done .

Other sites have said we wanted Barton (as did a few other Championship clubs) but he wasnt willing to lose over half his wages (we offered around £19k a week). The fact is, regardless of all his issues, he as played at the top of English and European football and the two times he has been in the Championship his team have gone straight up. If he has decided to take a lower wage as long as we help him get his coaching badges then we need to sign him up. Like him or loath him he will most likely be the most talented player in the league if he drops down and he would put the steel back in the spine of the team (Silvestri, Bamba, Barton and Wood seems a pretty good spine to build a team around to me if we can pull it off).
