Why do people keep saying were going fo sign people like matt jarvis david tempelton and other when we can just afford micheal browns wages warnock will bring in people that will get us out of this league Ed is there any news on gradel leaving st etienne {Ed020's Note - he's about as likely to leave there as i am to being unveiled as united top super striker. he left leeds for personal reasons, and seems to be doing great there, not sure where these rumours saying he's not happy are coming from}

Believable7 Unbelievable11

Because have looked at the size of are squad and how many of those we didnt need or just couldnt cut it at a bigger club or higher league ie: paynter, sams, rahukba, connolly and some of these didnt requier a transfer fee, so meens better wages. get rid of hangerons and the just carnt handle the pressure players and bring on the kiss the shirt and proud to wear it players. mot4life good times are just around the corner lads. onwards and upwards

Agree0 Disagree0

Well for starters Templeton will be on less than Brown. It's simple maths as the 1st response implies.... we have a lot of players on the books and even if they were frees or loans we were still forking out agents fees, signing on fees and salaries. So add up all the money spent on the 60 odd loans over the last few years and work out how many decent Championship level players that would have got us. It's not how much money you have but how you spend it

p, Robinson

f , Richardson
j , Woodgate
m, Kilgallan
i , Harte

bowyer
smith
clayton

mccormack
beckford
snodgrass

Believable20 Unbelievable56

Wishful thinking but not a bad line up. First seven all plucked from Championship Manager 2001-02!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not bowyer and smith to slow in midfield, killgallon is getting regular football, beckford has been turned down twice according to bates.

Agree0 Disagree0

This obsession with ex Leeds players is unhealthy, especially players like Smith and Woodgate, both well past it,give it a rest FFS.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about viduka? dacourt? radebe? bakke? yeboah? dorigo? get real.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt harte, richardson and woodgate will come from premier league first team footabll

Agree0 Disagree0

Bring back wallace, cantona, chapman, stracha, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

While we're at it we might as well have Burns, Okon & Ribiero

Agree0 Disagree0

Bring back the team of the 70s, now that was football

Agree0 Disagree0

I was only taking the mic with this team just thought i might aswell join the other looneys
and make a team out of x players that actually still play

Agree0 Disagree0

In that case can we have Milner & Lennon back please? LOL - I nearly said Ferdinand but didn't want to kop abuse!

Agree0 Disagree0

You might aswell drop Beckford,Snodgrass,Woodgate,Bowyer,Smith...aint gonna happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Robinson, too expensive
Richardson, too slow
Woogate, too injury prone
Bowyer too old
Smith too injury pronr
Beckford, too expensive

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the starting line up might as well be

Harvey

Reaney
McQueen
Hunter
Cooper

Giles
Yorath
Madeley

Clarke
Jordon
McKenzie

Agree0 Disagree0

Now you're talking! Though I would include Bremner, Charlton, Eddie and Frank Grey, Lorimer and Jones. What a squad that would be. Now back to reality!

Anyone from the Peterborough transfer List ?

Mark Little, Grant McCann, David Ball, Scott Griffiths, Nicky Ajose, Matthew Breeze, George Boyd and Paul Taylor.
Joe Lewis and Danny Mills have both left the club after their contracts expired.

- I'd say that McCann. Boyd and Taylor would be good signings but too pricey possibly?
-Joe Lewis highly rated keeper?

Believable16 Unbelievable9

Ye paul taylor played well against leeds at elland road

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye paul taylor played well against leeds at elland road

Agree0 Disagree0

What became of Joe Lewis? He was in a Capello squad I remember. Lonergan should be all right as no. 1 but Loach, Lewis, Stockdale and even Robinson would be interesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

None of them are good enough, including taylor and boyd! Desperate rumour... We need pace, strength and height in our team...

Agree0 Disagree0

Im pretty sure that taylor has pace and would be a perfect signing

Agree0 Disagree0

So your saying Boyd dosent have height and Taylor doesnt have pace. Good one mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take Little at right back! V. good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

This can hardly be a desperate rumour if they have actually been released.!!

Apparently we are paying 1.5 million for Jason Pearce and not the supposed 500k?

MirrorFootball.co.uk

Believable4 Unbelievable42

Have to say that the mirror isnt exactly the most accurate of tabloids, also , i cant see us spending that much on a player from a club in financial difficulties and being relegated, read in one areticle, might have been yep, that it is a 6 figure sum similar to what pompey bought him for

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes of course we are!! We won't even spend £1.5 m combined on our signings pre season. That's not to say Neil won't get some quality players in .Because it's Leeds United Teams will inflate they're prices for players, it's all about players having the desire to join us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt Warnock would put all his eggs in one basket. He's a very shrewd manager and has already said that you don't need loads of money to build a decent team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just cannot believe that Bates will have given Warnock all his transfer money at once as well as the transfer pot of the next two managers. Christ that is 4 years of available money at Leeds all at once for one player!

Agree0 Disagree0

The fee is 250k. thats the official line anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

According to pompey insiders, fee is circa £380K and includes Pompey agent fees and the next two months salary for Pearce. Leeds will pay a a lump sum to cover the full amount and were the only team willing to do so. And that is a huge change around from how we've run our business these last few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Pearce had turned down a new contract and was out of contract?, this is supposed to be the mystery signing today on a pre-agreement?

leeds are looking at matt jarvis, ryan shotton, matt etherington, jordan henderson, tyrone mears, nahki wells, jordan rhodes, volland, coquelin, beckford & matt mills. Owen hargreaves on season loan may also be on the cards. these are all players that have been seen leaving the training ground over the last few days.

Believable11 Unbelievable61

Along with Alan Shearer, Peter Schmeichel & Paulo Maldini!?! Behave yourself mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

So they have Sky TV at Elland Road to. I've just seen a flying pig over elland Road, i suppose he'll be signing on a free as well!

Agree0 Disagree0

Visual hallucinations:

The most common modality referred to when people speak of hallucinations. These include the phenomena of seeing things which are not present or visual perception which does not reconcile with the physical, consensus reality.

Enough said mate

Agree0 Disagree0

How can we loan hargreaves when he is being released anyway ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if they were seen (highly unlikely) but how are we going to afford the wages, and transfer fee!?

Think before you post mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if they were seen (highly unlikely) but how are we going to afford the wages, and transfer fee!?

Think before you post mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha you would make a great stand up comedian! Some crazy names you've thrown in there not to mention Henderson who Liverpool payed around 20 mill for!

Agree0 Disagree0

Leaving the training ground... in a space ship??

Agree0 Disagree0

DREAM,DREAM,DREAM!! i heard the whole barcelona and real squads envy leeds and warnock and plan to come to be with warnock!! oh and by the way we are planning a new stadium on the roof of leeds market!! lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds must also be looking at messi, ronaldo and van persie then...what deluded rubbish...

looks like a new left back is being searched for as it looks like paul robinson is not wanted by NW

Believable34 Unbelievable5

Just go get harte before west ham snap him up

Agree0 Disagree0

Harte is signing a new deal at reading i;d like to see us bring in Tommy Spurr done well at Donny team conceaded a lot of goals when he was out injured

Agree0 Disagree0

Robinson didnt really do much wrong or right really, i think he came to get fit and play footy, dont think there was any chance of a deal on.

Looking like Warnock going for pace and power and Robinson had none of them

I wish people would stop saying sell snodgrass. If snoddy is sold it will be for and UNDISCLOSED FEE of which about 500k will be pumped back into the team and the rest will be transfered to an offshore bank account. I would rather see him see his contract out than have that happen. From past history am I talkin sense here or no?

Believable43 Unbelievable18

Depends on whether he wants to stay or go or not. he should take the contract on offer but add a clause to be allowed to leave at the end of the season if not promoted and if not then sell him if we get decent money for him. I doubt NW would allow him to be sold if he didnt get the money. Personally I like Snoddy and think he is a decent player but he is nowhere near as good as some people think due to a lack of pace and the game is so quick now.

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't always need to be fast if you can read the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont get better replacement not even on par replacements so stop calling for Snodgrass to leave we wont get anything back!

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling Snodgrass would be an immediate sign of surrender. Sure we have sold Snodin and Sheridan in the past but plans were afoot then for decent replacements.

Think we need to leave the Clingan rumour now....... If he was that good, he wouldn't have captained a side to relegation

Believable24 Unbelievable18

1 player dont make a team what it is unless that person is jermaine beckford

Agree0 Disagree0

Well pearce is highly rated and he captained portsmouth nimrod

Agree0 Disagree0

1 man does not = a whole team, plus, are we not signing Jason Pearce, has he not just captained Pompey to relegation?

Agree0 Disagree0

"If he was that good, he wouldn't have captained a side to relegation"

if you were that smart, you wouldn't have used that as an argument

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure on Clingan but if he does come to Leeds then good on him - Scot Parker was Captain of West Ham when they went down and he is class

Agree0 Disagree0

Who used the word "Nimrod" ha ha. What an absolute GEEK!

Agree0 Disagree0

He captained a side that got relegated but still took 4 points off us!

Ian black released from hearts! Get him in brtter then browm! fACT

Believable18 Unbelievable11

We already have a White and Brown so why not sign Paul Green and Andy Gray while were at it. at least the team will be colourful if nothing else

Agree0 Disagree0

Like it! But seriously ian black is a good footballer plus hes a tuff tackling ball winning midfielder. Original poster

i think a lot of leeds fans are living in cloud cookoo land atm. grayson had no money so filled our squad with frees and loanees. the only way warnock can generate funds is to get rid of the rubbish we already have. bates said grayson got ten million a year and was up to him if he spent it on transfers or wages. beckford, gradel, owen hargreaves. get real. more likely to be the majority of the best from the relagation bunch

Believable19 Unbelievable14

Grayson had money but chose to spend it on wages for all the frees and loanees. A better manager (Warnock) will use the money much more wisely and we'll have quality not quantity

Agree0 Disagree0

You could be right....but consider that the 10 million was mainly players wages?

Warnock going to get rid of the dead wood to free wages for incoming players

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactamundo..... Pompey, QPR, possible Blackburn, Doncaster etc pick best from bunch nice and early. Maybe one or two medium transfer fees but all players with release clauses rather than loan signings. Wants it all early to avoid desperate signing of loan rangers. NW -He's sharp enough and a good decision maker

Agree0 Disagree0

Your dead right mate warnock can talk about bringin in all sorts of players but at the end of the day he aint the one callin the shots. All of a sudden the fans think bates has turned into father christmas lol Regardless of cutting the wage bill etc players cost money unless they are out of contract and from past experience most of the out of contract ones are not the may west. Because unlike us most other teams tie their decent players down to decent contracts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right mate, grayson had no money and was forced into buying players on the cheap or bringing in frees . basically bates got a list of players that grayson wanted and bates chose the cheapest . grayson was simply just bates puppet . we will see if grayson can do well with money next season with Huddersfield ,we already know that bates is the reason we are still sat here hoping for promotion rather than been excited about been in the top flight.
thanx bates your a t**t ,Bates OUT bates OUT

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont be surprised if a few players are sold to fund the transfer fees, he keeps talking about pace, power etc snodgrass dunt have any of that and would probably get 3/4 mil for him, becchio 2 mil, aidy white 1.5. i just hope where all as optimistic come august

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont be surprised if a few players are sold to fund the transfer fees, he keeps talking about pace, power etc snodgrass dunt have any of that and would probably get 3/4 mil for him, becchio 2 mil, aidy white 1.5. i just hope where all as optimistic come august

Agree0 Disagree0

The main difference is that NW has a proven track record and Bates will trust him to spend the money. No manager has ever left Leeds and said they werent backed , even Macca said he was. At the end of the day nobody will care if he sells all the best players but moulds a good competative squad as Wilko did and gets promotion. The gulf between the divisions is such now that you have to build the squad each year and cant build a squad now that will stay in the prem without additions.

Agree0 Disagree0

You dont need every player to have pace and power. if you have an attacking line of players with pace and power and then snodgrass with his flair and crosses, then you have a very strong team.

you people dont seem to have a concept of chemistry in a team. if every player has the same qualities, you become a really predictable (and therefore easy to deal with) team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chemistry is not what where talking about. where talking about the fact that we wheel and deal every season and every time we find a decent player among the sh**e he is sold and the money is never pumped back into the side. fabian delph, max gradel, jonny howson. im sure that good looking east stand, a pavillion and howards restraunt will get us up. not to mention the compo we got for the youth players that got poached. about 15 mil in total?? you do the math. bates is a **** we hate chelsea, we hate chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

The money is pumped back in, but through the wages of players like bromby, varaynen, paynter, parker etc who do absolutely nothing for the team but take up wages.

theres roughly 15 players we can get rid of. If theyre all on 8k a week, you've got 120k a week shaved off the wage bill. you do the math.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think every player at leeds is on 8k a week then you must be very deluded. half of the rubbish we have we signed them when they didnt have a club on a short term deal or on loan, hence low wages. parker was a good player if it wasnt for been injured so much, o dea gone, robinson gone, forsell deal wont be renewed, varaynen gone, paynter wont be going anywhere under warnock and bromby is out for the season so wont be going anywhere. so where are these 15 coming from?

did anyone see the stevenage v sheff utd match on saturday? the youngster billy freeman looks quick, pacey, intelligent and sharp. worth a punt?

Believable27 Unbelievable13

Hes on loan from arsenal isnt he? or am i thinking of someone else?

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Luke Freeman looked a decent player, fast, quick, pacey and would give Usain a run for his money

Agree0 Disagree0

Its luke freeman, he was an arsenal youth. Signed from gillingham when he about 15 but never made it. Was on loan at Stevenage but signed for them permanently. Looks a decent player.

Agree0 Disagree0

What I also saw was both Sheff. U and Stevenage playing better football than we do.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree entirely and also the left-back, Laird.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a leeds fan living in Stevenage and I have seen him a few times. Would be worth a punt he was the best player against Spurs in the FA cup down here. I have also seen Larry down here when he was in charge but I think he was looking at Lawrie Wilson.

leeds in talks with arsenal to take french defender squillaci on season long loan

Believable14 Unbelievable45

30 Apr 2012 11:25:49
Anyone else think it was co-incidental that beckford came off at half time on saturday after applauding the leeds fans and showing a great sign of gratisfaction to them and since the game he said that what the leeds fans did for him was great and leeds will always have a place in his heart,he came off at half time because he didnt want to play against us? No evidence of an injury and it cant have baaan a tactical change because vassell is a smaller fatter player in comparrison to beckford,is this the start of the beckfor d return that we've all been waiting for?

Believable32 Unbelievable15

Becks was subbed for "saluting LEEDS fans to much"
need him back if you ask me. Also Kevin Phillips linked with the Mighty LEEDS this morning

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you notice alex bruce going to take his shirt off and give it to beckford at one of the set pieces.
this was when the kop were singing beckfords name and his goal against man u!!
i think it's nailed on he's coming back!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nigel Pearson probably thought it was unprofessional for him to do what he did.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats this we have all been waiting for. i for1 dont want him back. he could not wait to go last time he was here. i would prefer players who are committed to leeds united not egotistical ones like beckford. i would rather kandol back or keep barn door billy than have beckford back

Agree0 Disagree0

He came off because Pearson thought he was more interested in playing to the Leeds fans than playing football. He isn't coming to Leeds, Leicester will want a reasonable fee (7 figures) and he is on £40k/wk

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont say "weve all" like you speak for everyone, he gets paid by leics a good wage so that would be a bad attitude..oh wait he does have a bad attitude.. good player but wish people would get over this previous player nonsense. just move on !!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people are just reading in to hidden meanings that arn't there, I just saw it as a manager giving 3 of his subs a run out on the last game of the season, with nothing to play for. One a 1/2 time, one after 1hr and then with 15mins left. big deal!

Agree0 Disagree0

There's about as much chance of us signing Lionel Messi.

The sad truth is that Ken has already said we will be cutting the wage bill from ;last year to this, down to c.£9m. Beckford would cost minimum £1m and then £40k/week wages, so that's a thrid of the budget gone on one player. It ain't happening and once again you can be sure that despite Warnock's arrival, it will be bargain basement once again for Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

We wont be cutting the wage bill by much but cutting the size of the squad so we are able to attract better players as we will be able to compete . we will remove 15 more players while bringing in 5 - 10 players on better wages

Agree0 Disagree0

BECKFORD got his reality check and its hurting him. He now realises like so many before him that Leeds fans support their heros better than most clubs and he had it all. He's had nowt at Everton and little from Leicester fans. You cant buy back what you have lost and he realises it. Dream on if you really think he's coming back cus we dont pay for inflated egos or for dreamers... lets face it that was what he was... dreaming of a better life !

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford may have been on 40k at Everton but I doubt he is now.

Agree0 Disagree0

He wants to come back because hes not in the premiership anymore and realises how good he had it here in comparison, with fans who stand by the team no matter what

Agree0 Disagree0

Get real will those of you who are having a go at Beckford,he was offered a contract at a premier league club!So he should have stayed at the once mighty Leeds, with papa smurf who's,running it as a business not an oil rich sheik, some of you need a reality check,Ps why would he want to come back? Highly doubt it, he injured his anterior cruciate ligament playing for wolves therefore is only a spectator for a good 6-8 months

Agree0 Disagree0

I did my acl out for 9 months before i even started training.

leeds to sign mido on one month rolling contract

Believable8 Unbelievable36

30 Apr 2012 10:55:40
NW has said he wants three or four signings before he goes on holiday at the end of may. I would expect three of the four to be defenders and then a centre mid. Then when he gets back I would expect him to sign two pacey wingers because I expect snods to leave, another centre mid and a fast striker.
These are what I think would be reasonable:
Pearce
A rb and lb with pace not sure who
Leadbitter
Possibly green
Adomah
Paul taylor
Dj Campbell

Believable23 Unbelievable9

Holidays? holidays?? show some dedication Warnock!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dj campbell? no better than we have got. imo we need to concentrate on defenders and midfield and possibly a decent keeper there is nothing wrong with our forwards apart from paynter

Agree0 Disagree0

We will release or sell on paynter and forrsel and bring 1 striker in .
maybe brown ,pugh ,sam and nunez will be released or sold on and bring in 2 center midfielders a fast left midfielder and right midfielder .
kisnorbo and o'brien to be released sold on .
bring in 2 center backs and 2 full backs

cairns ,c.taylor ,l turner ,n,turner and z,thompson to go out on loan for a season

this leaves us with these players left in our squad from this season .......

Why are Leeds not as active around local area scouting kids, some my lads team have all been picked up by the following teams

man city 3 kids
Hudds 2 kids
Man U 1 kid

Come on Bates youth is the future.

anyone else know of other clubs scouting around leeds.

Believable23 Unbelievable11

I coach at junior club in Halifax, Leeds took one of the best kids I have seen in a long time for a trial. Within 3 weeks he had signed for Bradford City!!
That is the extent of Leeds current youth policy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Main problem is that kids can go where they like when they like so if Leeds spend money in developing them they will go to a bigger club anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Leeds under 18's have finished second? Maybe your friends aren't good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is a surprisingly good team then, if 6 of them can get into pro teams youth academies. i only know 1 guy whos in the blackburn youth and thats it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets get it right only 1% of kids make it to play premiership football. All the rest end up in DC Units and shadow squads in which there are given the tools to play a good standard of football. In which other clubs may benefit if they don't make it with there club that has scouted them.

Snodgrass hinted in a conversation at the end of season dinner that he "is happy to stay as he has one year remaining on his contract" (His own words). This comment and his whole body language tells me he is not looking to sign a new contract and if that is true we need to sell him now for decent money and not on the cheap in January

Believable26 Unbelievable7

Why would he stay and not sign the new contract to make him the highest earner, he is a pro footballer but aint that stupid, the length of the new contract wont matter because NW has already said if he isnt in Prem by next reason we will let him go regardless! He is clearly waiting to see who comes in, and what other offers he gets. I doubt he will sign soon, but if he does it'll be a good sign that NW has quality on his radar.

Agree0 Disagree0

NW said if we are niwhgere near the top at christmas he will let him go in the january transfer window. this could work well for us as january tends to be the transfer window when people pay stupid prices for a player so they can affect the rest of the season for their team. i.e we could get £6m for snodds

Agree0 Disagree0

There is the chance that teams will only offer up to 3 mil if we wait until jan as teams are willing to wait until there is no fee . it will only work for the better for leeds if teams like swansea and norwich come in with bids as the know if they wait until his contract runs out they will missout to a bigger team
