Not a chance we will pay 1.8 million for a carthorse
Agree6

Wouldnt call him a cart horse mate? 19 goals before he left us and we ain't got anyone else in current squad going to get near that total this season!
Agree4

If he played ross as a striker instead of out wide he would get you 20 goals belly the white
Agree6

Were not paying 1.8 million for him are we. just taking him on loan, til he starts scoring again and norwich come calling him back
Agree2

He won't cost 1.8 million a mill at most norwich will be happy to get owt for him really

Why all the negativity about becchio.if the board had stumped up some cash to keep him in the first place he would nothave left.the problem is the board have no cash and until everybody realises this the the only thing we can dream of is mid-table security.COME ON BOARD SHOW ALL LOYAL FANS YOU ARE IN FOR THE LONG HAUL AND NOT A QUICK PROFIT

Would love to see becchio back and do feel we will ge him on the cheap in January no way will they get 1.8 mil for a player who has barely touched a ball for them for 6 month or whatever it is.

Few people saying L Lita. Good shout I would like and Maynard but he was in Cardiff squad so can't see that one

Lucas Piazon is on loan already for the season at Vitesse Arnhem from Chelsea.
I'd take anyone that is proven at this level although I'm personally hoping for Shane Long.

I'm a leeds fan and also follow malaga where Piazon was on loan last season and I can say he is hugely over rated . Also he is already out on a season long loan! Two decent young malaga players, recio & juanmi would be worth a punt on loan, juanmi plays for Spain at under 19's

More change of getting Tommy Smith who played for Liverpool in the 70's.

Is Mason any use? Haven't really see anything of him? Is he a poacher type striker?
Paizon is out on loan at Chelsea's feeder club Vitesse Arnhem

Not necessarily
GFH & BMD have no money to spend or if they have, it's NOT a great deal.
We have a few good players slip through our fingers in the last 3-4 years. Why? We do not have the money to pay them! We are no longer an attractive club for players. Average/below rates players, being expected to perform on the stage which is LUFC - It's a massive ask to expect these players to sign and perform like Premier league players.

According to a few Sunday papers Becchio wants to come back to Leeds. I'll say To Becchio and all those youngsters who left Leeds for Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton, etc (where are they all now? ) the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Yes great point you make but wouldn't you move for a significant pay rise and long term deal. The fact of the matter is all those good players we've sold ( Becchio, howson, snodgrass, Johnson) would have remained at Leeds if the club had shown the ambition to get promoted. We have one of the lowest salary costs in the championship and hurts me to think players can go play for Huddersfield and smaller clubs but earn more cash. At this moment in time Becchio will be welcome back with open arms.

Dont see how people can moan he had the oppurtunity to play in prem league if norwich came for mccormack he would probs wanna leave

I agree it isn't always, however I wouldn't turn down the opportunity though.
On the other hand, for all the failed players that left look at the ones who did well - Milner, Lennon, Robinson, Ferdinand, Kewell, Rose. These players show that if you actually are good enough you will succeed. The ones who left and failed just weren't good enough after all.
I do see your point though.

3rd reply Kewell?

3rd poster here. A champions league winners medal and a couple of cups with Liverpool & playing for Gal (I know peoples thoughts, and I am not gunning for an argument, but you must admit they are a massive club), that's not exactly conference level.

Kewell, erm no lad. he may have trophies, but by that logic phil neville is 1 of the best players in europe.
Agree1

ERM the post was not about being the best player, it was about having success & ERM leaving a team that's won NOTHING since 1991 to a champions league winner is something of the grass being greener!
You know other fans are correct when they say we need to stop living in the past. We are nothing at the moment, lots of passionate fans counts for Jack when you talk about leaving for success!

Fair comments above guys but when I said the grass is not always greener I was referring mostly to the kids who are now nowhere to be seen. I appreciate the situation with more established players and to better themselves. Becchio was different he was never going to cut it in the premiership in fact I won a bet with a workmates that he wouldn't score for Norwich.

I can't believe people bet against you.it was obvious he wouldn't cut it.hope you enjoyed your winnings

Unfortunately, when you leave because the grass is greener, and you find out it actually isn't, you can't put the clock back!

Becchio was effectively shown the door by Warnock, so the argument is academic. And Kewell, as the 3rd poster rightly said, had a pretty successful career. People leave Leeds, as they do all clubs in the end, get over it -we don't all have to get so uptight about it. Chapel A

"Becchio was effectively shown the door by Warnock, so the argument is academic"
Ah, there you have it, but nobody actually forced Bechio to jump ship, he could have hung about and scrounged his pay like so many of the crap Warnock bought in are still doing to our detriment
Shame Bates never had the foresight to write 'useless player can go' clauses into anyones contracts, but then he never had Leeds interests at heart - just like warnock really.
I often wonder if the two of them are sat in Monte Carlo at the weekend having a joke about how easy it was to take the piss.
Just don't compare McCormack to Bechio, Ross has re-signed and is giving all, and not heading anywhere else soon.
Agree0
Disagree0
So are you saying that you would have been happy if becchio had not left and just sat around every week on the bench or even not in the squad collecting his wages? I don't think so, you like everyone else would have been straight on here slating the man for not leaving when he could have. not one person on here can say that if they got offered a new job with better wages they wouldn't take it. few weeks ago I would have let him stay at norwich but the situation we are in now, we need a goal scorer and no one can deny him that. maybe that will help ross start scoring again aswell
Agree1
Disagree0
Grass greener? Come on get real.they go for the big bucks and then bitch about not playing. The fact is they were never good enough and that's why they got offloaded at the right time. Only a fool would take them back and then play them regularly.
