I have good authority that warnock would like to sign j beckford and he is lookin to sign thomas on permanant with johnathan parr comin to fill our lb problem . He is also lookin at jonny howson as he not happy at Norwich
By da way gr8 result on Tuesday

Believable19 Unbelievable84

They are championship quality players where will we end up if we have those players of that calibre, remember when howson was our captain, we didnt even end up in a play-off spot, beckford was good in league 1 beeing pants every where else he's gone, parr not too bad but we can probably do better than that, go for prem quality!

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson has made his choice I for one would not welcome him back, when your home town club needed him all he could do was jump ship for a few quid.

Agree1 Disagree1

I believe howson was forced out... in his 1st norwich interview it was quite clear he wasnt happy to be there

Agree0 Disagree1

Must be joking dont wont any off them. they moved on so should leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on home Beckford! We badly need a stronger attack force. Two wins are great but how many times have we actually had a shot that forces a save.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why oh why same crap about our old players that WANTED TO LEAVE us for THE PREMERIERSHIP not with us but another side so stop the old boys act ! If we do have a transfer budget I would hope the players NW has comming in would be Class high calibre players that make our pulses race somewhat with thoughts of not just visiting the PREMIER BUT BOOKING IN AND STAYING IN.. So please dr the beckford etc back their gone MOVE ON
IN WARNOCK WE TRUST in gfh WE HAVE HOPE
Wingy Mk Leeds for life mot !!

Agree1 Disagree0

We don't have a left back problem for starters beck ford wasn't a flop at Everton 10 goals in his first and only season it worked out 1 goal in 3 games more than a lot of strikers how's on does a job for Norwich when he plays but have to say don't want either back unles it's on loan

Agree1 Disagree0

Howson was not 'Forced out' he was offered a new contract which he turned down because he wanted to play in the premiership. The truth is he is not good enough for prem league which is why he is a bench warmer at Norwich.

Cant see us signing a LB. Pelts is only playing there because Byram is keeping him out of RB slot, plus we have Drury and White.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do need a striker in cause as the last post said we don't shoot enough but not beckford his time has gone . howson probably wouldn't make the team at the moment as for me Austin and Norris are both better than him ....he didn't get us to play offs and couldn't wait to go . we need to be aiming higher . someone like faurlin would be better Karl mot

Agree2 Disagree0

Not happy because he isnt good enough to get in the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford was only good in league 1 n as he keeps proving at hudds hes not very good atall in the champ, yes he gets the odd goals but hes a striker that is what they r meant to get but he dnt get many atall n becchio n mccormack r both gr8 TEAMPLAYERS n the reason we dnt shoot much is cus of players like brown choosing 2 shoot instead of passing 2 the strikers. give becchio decent balls n he will score as hes proved in the past 2 or 3 seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

All sounded good until you mentioned Howson, the same one that was brought up through our ranks and a self proclaimed 'Leeds fan' and sold us out to get more money and play in the premier league i dont know about the rest of you Leeds fans but i would definately take 5-7k a week to play for Leeds!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wudent waste money on howson and still i see ppl posting about beckford beeing "pants" in other leagues, clearly these ppl havent looked at his goal scoring record... how about compare it to mccormack then think again about having a go at him

Agree0 Disagree0

Top players and great servants both of them. Of course we'd take them back. We'd probably be in the Prem by now if they, Max, Snoddy, BJ hadn't been sold off...Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

How can u mention johnson in the same breath as gradel and snodgrass, and no 'of course we'd take them back' about it, what is it with this fixation about ex players , move on

Agree0 Disagree0

I have it on good authority, says it all really, what they really mean is, I have a hope and would really want this to happen, although I am in the minority.
Beckford is a waste of space as every club has found out.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2012 22:44:40
To the last post. Would never take snoddy back

Agree0 Disagree0

The only player i would welcome back is gradel, he was sold when he didnt want to go, plus he wants to return to leeds, a talented player thats why liverpool are after him, lets get in first mot...

Agree0 Disagree0

People really need to look into or read up on properly what goes on within the club. howson didnt just up and leave, he was pushed out due to bates wanting to cash in, ben parker said it himself (close frind of jonathan) and jermaine pants everywhere ?? doylum, brilliant every season at leeds, good at everton< 12 goals in prem and cups from league 1 is very very good . didnt get chance at liecester even though scored a few. and good so far at udders... duno what youve been watching through his career but youv nopersonched close enough. get him back.

Lufc will make 1 poss 2 signings in jan
Warnock will look to get diuof signed up. Will sign tounge full time along with hall. He will try and get tait to sign and keep thomas until end of season.
He will sign a striker campbell and another attacking midfield player.
We might have 8 million but only expect 2 signings the rest will be used to tie up the players we have at the club. 10 grand a week is £ 520 000 4 or 5 players to sign up 8 million soon goes

Believable34 Unbelievable27

Firstly you stated 6 players there not 1 or 2 secondly the rumour is 8m transfer kitty not for transfers and wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure we will sell some players to cover contracts . i think you re probably right about getting players like diouf on longer deal . i think we will attempt to get thomas ,tate and tonge signed up as they all have prem league experience and if we are to go up we will need a strong base to work off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats all we need. A striker, a left back a central midfielder like Trotter.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should tie down the players we already have and then make an approach for a prem striker on loan. Theres no need to waste all our transfer kitty on some dosser whos out of favor. We need to get the young hungry players on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we need a striker, when mccormack's fit we'll have him, becchio, diouf, poleon and somma will be back soon. If we tie up the players we got on loan at the moment we can go for experienced prem quality thats under 30, think we need a left back, creative centre mid and a right mid. offload the deadweights ie. pugh, varney, connelly, bromby and nunez that will give us more cash to get proper quality in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree we wont sign too many players, money will be spent making sure we don't lose Diouf and securing the likes of Tate and Thomas on permenant deals. If we sign 2-3 players in addition to this then I can see us letting Hall go back as he's not getting any match time with the squad we currently have. Personally would like to see him given a chance tho'

Agree0 Disagree0

In place of who Green, Tonge, Norris, Thomas?

Not in my book I said green was a good player when we signed him and Norris most people were saying oh no they are from Portsmouth were in trouble where are they now. Austin coming back also maybe a midfielder and def a right winger but diouf can play there and let byram overlap him with Becchio and Rossco leading the line Thomas on the left two of four in the middle tonge Norris/green/austin

Agree0 Disagree0

It's always a bonus to be strong in depth, plus i know they done ok past couple of games apart from austin whos injured but surley we can get better midfielders than tonge, norris and green who to be fair arn't really the type of players to take us up and most definatly not brown he's horrendous! There alright at championship level but not great. We can aim higher now and get proper quality in the squad and if they want a game they can battle for a place in the team that way we can get the very best out of our players while getting the results which really matter. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

You have to give the original poster credit.....

10,000 a week does indeed = £520,000

I checked the maths and everything.........

Sorry to post this 1 guys but just been on that max gradel will join Liverpool or shakdar donnezt in January . Keep fighting though boys thers plenty more fish on the sea ie shaun wright Phillips .Mot.

Believable15 Unbelievable17

Yes i heard that too! apparently broke the story!KEA

Agree0 Disagree0

Batley is the man and he has told me we are going up , so were going up and that is that !

Agree0 Disagree0

Good! can loan him back, next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Think we could get better id have thomas over him any day.

Agree0 Disagree0

In papers today they've agreed deal for Thomas ince of Blackpool for £6mill as he left them few years back ! So why would they chase gradel suppose its poss as for shackter don their minted could buy a lot better!! Just a thought!! {Ed003's Note - No deal has been agreed}

Agree0 Disagree0

His last season at Leeds was great but players have good and bad seasons. The problem with previous players is you remember the good and assume this would be replicated if they came back. He's been built up too much now and that's a lot of pressure for the lad.

I'm not saying he wouldn't be great for us again but I think you should always look forward not to the past. There are plenty of other players out there who would do the job for us. Thomas, once his fitness is better, will do just fine.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he gets the move good for him, he deserves a shot at the prem

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck Max if that happens -reckon he could do it there. Actually, his best asset in my eyes was the quality of his finishing for a winger -always crisp. Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want SWP, rather Matt Phillips from blckpool....wouldn't mind jonjo shelvey from liverpool either....

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi no thankyou for Shelvey, has a touch like a baby elephant

Well he be use to playing Championship football for them so.

gary hooper to sign in january along with shaun wright phillips who is joining on loan till end of season

Believable9 Unbelievable87

Why would Hooper leave a Champions League club for us? Maybe if we get in the Premier League next season...

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish people will give it a rest with hooper hes never going to join us, we cudent afford his wages or transfer free not to mention hes playing in europe and will b again next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but being in Europe and either not being in the team or the team itself not competitive in Europe(with this season perhaps being an exception although still won't qualify in my opinion) is hardly brilliant . fact is Scottish prem is probably worse standard than championship so again forget hooper lets aim higher Karl mot

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper is always in the main celtic team u fool

Agree0 Disagree0

Has been linked with a 10m move 2 Sunderland . There is more change of Warnock Being a prem manager than this

Just on the subject of low attendances. I saw another post earlier that mentioned that Boro had dropped their prices to £12 and they had 27,000 turn up.

I worked out that if we are charging an average of £27 per ticket and we have 18,000 turn up then that is £486,000 in revenue from ticket sales alone. If we dropped the tickets to an average of £18 per ticket and were able to attract 27,000 (which is not unrealistic IMO, given we were getting 25,000 in League 1) then that is the the same figure £486,000 in ticket sales. But then you've also got 9,000 more people there who are likely to spend another say £10 each at the ground.

I'm no economic genius, but surely this would be worth considering or worth a try for at least a couple of matches?

MattP

Believable101 Unbelievable5

Leaving punters with more money to spend in the bars and club shop too.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yep your right mate...well worked out.
email them there is a special email address they have set up for fans ideas must be worth a go?

Agree1 Disagree0

That is a very good point thus creating a much better atmosphere prob get 30k plus in my opinion

Agree1 Disagree0

Higher attendance figures would mean more Stewards and staff required inside the ground and extra Police outside. At reduced ticket prices, probably less profit in it for Mr Bates

Agree1 Disagree1

At a guess, they would probably have to make staffing allowance for a full attendance anyway as the do not know how many are likely to turn up :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think long term more bums on seats would be better for merch, atmosphere and increasing fanbase. Unfortunately increased crowds = higher police bills, stewards... so its not quite as straight forward.

The question is how long term are the new owners looking. If like the fans they are looking beyond the current generation it is essential to get the crowds up, specifically kids and families back at the ground.

Agree1 Disagree0

I guess this may happen once GFH have full control and Bates is no longer sticking his nose in, problem was that Bates knew enough Leeds fans were/are staying away because of him so he was never going to get 27k attend whether prices were dropped anyway, I'm sure he has enough business experience and acumen to have weighed up both sides at that time. However as previously put now with GFH in charge we could well see a change in prices etc.... it would be beneficial for everyone involved. MOT SussexLeeds

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah but Mr Bates doesn't think like that in his mind its no one gets out for nowt or cheap, it hit them in the pockets and make the *******s pay

Agree0 Disagree0

I think what you say is correct, but not sure about your calculations. What I am sure about is that Bates will have thought about this long and hard and will have done the sums to show there's more profit on higher prices and lower crowds rather than other way around. I'm sure if he thought lower prices would get more profit we'd have had lower prices ages ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you dont have to be a genius to work out that more fans in Elland road will mean a greater atmosphere and become more intimidating for clubs to come and play against us. Whilst you may lose a little revenue it contributes to the teams performance and we need every bit of help to make it this season and challenge for top places. Fans feel good, team hopefully performs better and results hopefully improve. Its not rocket science

Agree0 Disagree0

Your clearly not a genius. What about the proper fans who buy season tickets every year and pay up front.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're very right but it doesnt just go down to that extra money they spend in the ground it is also the positive affect having 9000 more fans has on the players :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't change prices now, it would mean season ticket holders lose value on money they already spent. Like spitting in their faces, and they are most loyal customers. Expect no change until next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would have to be done at the beginning of next season to make it fair on season ticket holders . and if we do make prem they'll prob not reduce price cause fans would come back then anyway to possibly 35k a week

Agree0 Disagree0

they got 27000 because they provided a free ticket for anyone who turned up for their game on Saturday agains bristol Rovers, , every week local kids teams are flag wavers, come out with the players and take penalties at half time and full time, and for every kid that comes, Mams Dads , Grans etc buy a ticket to warch their loved ones do one of the above.
hate the club but i have two sons who have done all of the above and at least 10 of my family have paid to watch them on every occasion, they are good at marketing {Ed003's Note - hate ?? }

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 23:10:57
re previous post Ed- meant i strongly dislike the boro as i live amongst their"loyal" supporters,,point being they hook in youngsters ,parents etc buy tickets,beer and food- all income generating for the club, we could learn a bit from them {Ed003's Note - ok bud I got that bit ,I just hate the word hate lol.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates' thinking is that if 10.000 pay £30 (£300,000) it's better than 20,000 paying £15 because if and when the ground is full then 40,000 at £15 is far less than 40,000 at £30 :) easy

Agree0 Disagree0

Simple, just pile in the kids. Give a free children's ticket to every Season ticket holder - make it really easy to get them online. 10,000 season ticket holders would generat at least 10,000 extra supporters and bring new blood into the club. Attendances are dwindling partly because the fan base is getting older and not being replaced with new ones as the older ones retire from the pastime. Run this offer for every other home game - watch how many would still attend the games in between. Family ticket holders could bring a mate along for free so wouldn't loose out.
