According to the ipswich Town web site Leeds are out of the race to sign Joel Ward, the reason they give is that we cannot raise the money to do the deal believed to be £450.000 if this is indeed true god help us, if we cannot afford Ward who the heck are we going to sign, has beens and loanees again I'm afraid,
another summer of lies and deceit coming out of the boards mouths, I fear for our great club I really do. I am not looking forward to next season already, we are just being slowly destroyed from within, this should not be allowed to happen, it would not be so bad if the board would be transparent as to where all the out going transfer monies have gone. sad sad days ahead.

Believable13 Unbelievable10

This is not the ipswich town website - it is a blog and therefore unofficial ! The west ham one is a blog too! Didn't your mother teach you not to believe everything you read ? unless it's from the horses mouth - it's just hearsay ! lmc

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a joke whats happening to are club. Everybody knows who is to blame.
Instead of coming togeather and not buying tickets and showing this Tom t=t, we have got a brain.
Were being robbed of a team by a man who doesn't care about us.
Only we can stop this Cockney!
mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not a blog, its an unofficial website and tends to be very reliable! and if you feel that it dosent matter at all look at the news archive and you will see a previous article the 'Leeds front runners to get Ward'! its not just some random guy blogging

Agree0 Disagree0

'are' club is in the first stages of a transition. I think perhaps we ought to give things a chance to develop before we make up 'are' minds and start another hate campaign.

It's not good for the players, it's not good for the manager and it's not good for the club to continue to bombard Bates with this barrage of abuse.

How about we just stop (even if it's just until the start of next season) and give things a chance to develop. The constant negativity from certain corners of the fans cannot be good for prospective players though. Who is going to want to play for a club where NOBODY is good enough for them?!

Soon as Arsenal sign M'Vila or Hazard...Frimpong is coming on a season long loan

Believable7 Unbelievable18

How many times can you say. Warnock doesn't do loans.
You speak English?
If it is happening then we need to worry. That is the top and bottom of it.
mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

Frimpong said on sky sports he would love to go back to wolves on loan so he can fight for his place at arsenal. warnock does loans if he has long term injuries or with a view to a permanent contract. neither of these apply to frimpong

LEEDS OUT OF WARD RACE FACT !! Leeds, the one-time frontrunners, are believed to have had trouble raising the fee which is understood to be in the region of £450,000.
It's On Ipswich site posted 9pm Gj

Believable15 Unbelievable10

Why would you make this up? If it was true surely you would have posted a link!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah just heard same, a chuffing disgrace hope our supporters force bates out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unofficial Ipswich site! just cos they write it doesn't make it fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is utter rubbish! Nothing on ITFC website. What a stupid post

Agree0 Disagree0

Strange, i've just been on the Ipswich town website and no such report, just asking for voulnteers for Ipswich Town cheerleaders

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing on the official Ipswich web-site !! ust more rumours .....

Agree0 Disagree0

What because it's on ipswitch RUMOUR site it's fact!! Get real we all panicking cause we havnt signed one of our targets yet but please remember he hasn't signed for anyone yet, until that happens we ain't missed out on nobody just hope all goes well as live in Pompey and he's is regarded very highly and would be great addition to our squad

Jyg

Agree0 Disagree0

Must be true if it is on the Ipswich site then, after all the media are always right aren't they !!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Naaa thats old news and a naff website - its just been a long haggle with negotiations - the boy wants to come to Leeds - Paynter may go in part exchange - Neil will get his man - just be patient - IF not and he chooses to sign elsewhere based on a few extra quid a month for him and his agent - are not we are better off with a player who wants to play for THE Leeds joining not

Agree0 Disagree0

Looked on the Ipswich site and nothing confirming either post the link or bugger off.......

Agree0 Disagree0

I just had a look on Ipswich town website and there is no mention of this

i live near thorpe arch and was driveing past the training ground and iam pretty sure i saw joel ward leaveing

Believable9 Unbelievable14

Does anyone know what this guy looks like, I bet his mother couldn't pick him in an I D parade! This sorry transfer needs to be concluded very soon, it's driving me crazy and I know nothing at all about England's most wanted man.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest, 99% of UK football supporters wouldn't recognise Joel Ward if stood next to him, and that 1% would all be pompey fans. Next.

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess you mean 'leaving'; school in the morning young man.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you did live near the Leeds training ground, you'd know Thorp doesn't have an "e" on the end of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is thing called google and theres a pic of him on there

Leeds to sign danny rose on a season long loan.

Believable9 Unbelievable19

How many more times is this rubbish going to get posted.....Warnock doesn't do loans and just repeating the same rumour isn't going to make it happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I searched their site and found this...Send out youth on loans ie
Rose, Livermore ,caulker ,naughton, Kane
Carroll ... Coulibably ... Bostock ... Adam maybe you struck lucky..lets get greedy and ask for livermore too. mot4ever

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a chance, we do not need loans, we need players who want to be here for the future.

-Paddy Kenny to sign as soon as QPR sign Robinson or Gordon.
-Joel Ward deal back on in an exchange deal of paynter and 250k.
-Zac Whitbread to sign on a free from Norwich after being released by Norwich.
-Aidy White wants to stay at Leeds but wants "a fair package,".
- If a deal is not completed, Leeds will sign LB tommy Spurr for 100k, hes a young leeds fan and leeds is his first choice.

Leaving the defence like this:

Ward Whitbread Pearce White/Spurr

RB Ward
CB Whitbread Pearce Kisnorbo Lees
LB White/Spurr (pugh)

Believable13 Unbelievable12

I'd be happy with that, it's realistic as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this were to happen, then it would be great for the club! Kenny is obviously a decent keeper, not too sure about Ward but a youngster and can develop, Whitbread is full of experience and will be a great addition on a free and Spurr, even though only 22, has some real experience to his name. Captain of Sheffield Wed for a game or two, must have had faith in him. Know he is a Leeds fan and would put 100% effort in every game just like a proper fan would!

Agree0 Disagree0

Joel ward deal is off unless something dramatic changes, rumours on twitter tht leeds either wont or cant cum up with the fee

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact that Ward has not signed for anyone else could suggest he is waiting for Leeds to sort the deal out, i mean who really takes this long to decide? i think the suggestion that we can't raise 400000 is crap, we didn't seem to struggle with Pearce, more likely they are trying to get him cheaper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kisnorbo? You are deluded. They should cancel his contract. He will be no where near the first team next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Fitz Hall to be a Leeds players by end of the week

Believable12 Unbelievable16

That would be a good move, was excellent during QPR promotion season- proven defender to play alongside Pearce.

leeds to finalise joel ward signing next week once paynter completes a medical at portsmouth and agrees terms. fee believed to be less than the 400k being bandied about because of the cash + paynter deal.

Believable12 Unbelievable14

Paynter on 7k a week, pompey could only, and will pay half that at very most. hate to state the obvious, but as snods says, it has to be about the money. outside of lufc i'd be the same. as would any of us. im a london leeds fan since i was 4. now 40, but 1 trophy in going on 40 years, would test any loyal fans, when you think of the s**te that has won things since. I.E chelsea scum, Where where you when you s**t.

Agree0 Disagree0

What he is going to sign when warnock on his jollies dont expect anything happening till mid june now

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope Paynter is a wealthy man-he won't get paid at Pompey, they run out of money in a few weeks!

Ricardo fuller seen comming out of torp arc today. Hope he signs for us .

Believable6 Unbelievable17

He's been released and comes without a fee I believe. Strong guy who could deliver but lacked opportunity at Stoke. I wouldnt be disappointed if this was true. Personally I previously thought he might be the sort of guy we would bring in...lets see how it works out

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you he would be a good signing for us and hes being realised by Stoke.

Leeds united sat to sign simon cox from WBA {Ed013's Note - He has just signed a 1 year contract extension}

Believable2 Unbelievable15

The contract extension was exercised by WBA as they didnt want to lose him on a free when they could get a fee for him. Celtic have bid for him though apparently!

I know we have moaned on about free transfers over the past few years but there is a few that could seem to do a really good job for us and are not over the hill:

Almunia
Craig Gordon
Julian Faubert
Ivan Klasnic
Herita Illunga
Adriano (dont expect it but just a cheeky one)
Gregg Wylde

Just a few i know they are on the dreaded free transfer list but some decent players that would do a good job at the right price surely ave to be better than danny pugh and michael brown?

Believable16 Unbelievable8

Why are people going on about Gordon he is rubbish if we are going to change then Kenny is better

Agree0 Disagree0

Free transfer doesn't mean they are free, they will go to the club who will pay them the most wages and a fat signing on fee, so we can forget about those too!

Agree0 Disagree0

Free transfers still command a wage, all of the players listed will want more than Bates is prepared to pay. Realistic targets will be free Championship players, i'm afraid, as their wages will have been low at their previous clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

You forgot to mention Solomon kalou and Jose boswinga

Agree0 Disagree0

The 2 McDonalds on one street could surely tempt Adriano.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sorry how can you call gordon rubbish?! He had so much potential when arriving to Sunderland but just suffered horrific injuries from then on, disappointing relaly. but honestly cant see any of the above signing, batesy wont cough up high enough wages for them

According to his twitter, Curtis Obeng has been shopping in Leeds today with Clayton. Young rb, signed for swansea in Feb but first team opportunities limited due to performance of Taylor. An indication the Joel ward signing is off?

Believable2 Unbelievable12

Or that Clayton is going Swansea... or just the fact that it is possible for a Leeds United player to have friends at other clubs. Wouldn't read too much in to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, Obeng was part of Man City's youth team, he'll have grown up with Clayton, also, if you'd keep up with current news, Adam Clayton is transfer listed, why would someone shopping with him indicate that they were coming to Leeds, when Clayton is more than likely going to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Watched obeng a few times while at wrexham, very good player, bags of talent.but wont be leaving swansea

Agree0 Disagree0

Obeng and clayton have known eac other since they were kids get your facts right

Agree0 Disagree0

Played in youth team at City together plus their GF's are really good friends......TAXI

Or an indication Clayts is off to Swansea!

i can understand why us leeds fans are getting worried if we can't even sign joel ward from portsmouth then how the hell are we going to get premiership class in. that will mean bye bye snoddy. bates out!!

Believable16 Unbelievable7

There has been the odd rumour that we can't get the cash in order to sign him. The chances are that as Portsmouth are in financial turmoil, they want 500k upfront and in their bank balance a.s.a.p.

Just speculation, but maybe it was the same situation with Pearce, paying 500k upfront.

Quite simply we may not have 1m in total to pay Portsmouth up front for 2 players. Leicester have spent 3m, but presumably it is tied up in clauses, and will be paying over at least 12 months.

Once the sale of McCormack goes through it will give us the cash we need to sign him. Portsmouth are not in a position to delay the sale of Ward, so it seems strange why the deal seems to be dragging out. Maybe a few teams like Ipswich cannot pull 500k out of their bank balance.

Just because we don't have loose cash doesn't mean the club isn't in a healthy position. Very rare a club pay a one off fee for a player unless you are a moneybags side.

This is all presumptions, but i'll stay positive for the time being.

(Mickey1992)

Agree0 Disagree0

Let super snoddy go
If were not ambitious enough for him then go there is better available on a free like McFadden
Sell snodgrass and McCormack and get beckford and mcfadden

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2012 12:55:09
Neil Warnock will not leave Leeds. Snodgrass will sign his contract. And Joel Ward will sign part exchange Paynter. The situation at leeds over recent years has obviously got all us die hard fans worried but we need to stop assuming that things will be the same this term. I really think that there is alot of good times ahead. This season yes was a nightmare and yes as said we all fear the worst but we are the best fans in the world of football and we need to stick together and raise the roof off at elland road week in and week out no matter what 11 are on the pitch. MOT FOREVER.

Believable17 Unbelievable11

Thank heavens for a bit of common sense on here at last - Slingsby White

Agree0 Disagree0

Its an intresting point, has anybody else heard about portsmouth having transfer restrictions by the football league due to financial situation. maybe part ex-ing players is there only option other than free agents.

What a blinder Warnock has played in his latest interview concerning snodgrass saga ,"i dont blame snodgrass for waiting to see what quality players come into Leeds before he talks about signing a contract ,he has the same concerns as the fans, they are waiting for the club to match his ambition"warnock has put all the pressure on Bates and the board ,Well done Niel classic.

Believable23 Unbelievable2

It's hard being a leeds fan, cos we're so passionate about leeds united.
any other fans would just not support a team like leeds united.
we have a great history, which is excellent, but should not get in the way of, or affect the players, playing for us.
theres extra pressure on leeds players, cos it is leeds united and that pressure is not easded by the expectations on and off the field.
warnock i hope will make all the right decisions, and with money or without it will try and make a good leeds side, who will remain in the championship and hopefully make an assault on the premiership. to all you leeds fans out there, just be patient - it'll come and when it does, we'll enjoy it even more!!! with or without bates & company!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree whole heartedly with the OP, both Snodgrass and now Colin have played this very well indeed. They get all the fans on board and apply pressure to KB. Lets just hope that it works as KB does not take kindly to criticism.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate no body will put pressure on an 84 yr old millionaire whose been round the block quite a few times. Warnock knows what he thinks and i dont think he'll stay if hes been lied too. But on the same token Bates aint doing anything unless its fiscaklly reponsibible. Im a third gen leeds supporter and have seen the highs and the lows like most my age and while getting back to the premeir league cant come sooner for me I dont wont to be a premiership /championship yoyo team. I get that about Bates...so be strong brothers in arms be patient MOT

If the rumours about Paddy Kenny are TRUE then wouldn't that mean a transfer fee?
Why waste that money? Put it towards wages for a released keeper of decent quality.
Craig Gordon
Thomaz Kuszczak
Manuel Almunia
Anyone but Paddy Kenny!

Believable5 Unbelievable5

What you on about?! Paddy Kenny is phenomenal, did you not watch the City game?

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he signed for Sheff Wed but why didnt we look at Kirkland.

I know he is not best in the world but would of been a good 1 and 2 him and Lonners

Andy P

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddy kenny is a quality signing and would make us very strong and organised defensively

Agree0 Disagree0

Craig Gordon should be top of the keeper wish list!

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddy Kenny is a good goal keeper and would be better than our keeper now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kenny is good solid keeper much better than londergan who is pony and quality keeper like maneul almunia...really...gordon is good but made of glass agree with kuszckzak would be great signing but really need to have a think who ever posted this....almunia...tut tut tut (shakes head is disbelife)

Kenny is better than Lonergan with one hand tied behind his back and a blindfold on his eyes!

Decent players on frees - good additions
Whitbread
Faubert
Hargreaves
Klasnic
Cuellar
Hall
G.Hoyte
McFadden
Mattock
Shorey
Tchoyi

Believable22 Unbelievable5

Out of them i'd get:
GK: Guzan
RB: Faubert CB: Whitbread LB: Mattock
LM/RM: Tchoyi
ST: Klasnic

Agree0 Disagree0

Yup a few good players there but a few players on big wages so no good for leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Whitbread, Hargreaves, Klasnic, McFadden, Shorey - yes please Mr Chairman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whitbread is a must for me, him, Lees and Pearce for CB's that is solid!

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks to Mattock, he's an awful player and a thug - JamesC

Agree0 Disagree0

For the most the above would demand wages far and above what old Papa Smurf would be willing to pay. I'm almost embarrassed at how little confidence I have in Leeds to complete/close prospective signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

Micky shorey good experience and we need a left with aids white moving

Agree0 Disagree0

As already stated, most of these have been freed by Premiership clubs, hence a higher wage than dribbly beard will pay. We will have to set our sights lower i am afraid.

From what I'm hearing tomorrow could be a watershed or Groundhog Day for Leeds United. Sign Joel Ward or NW says bye-bye. How low has our club sunk that he has to give the Chairman and that useless Harvey a kick in the pants to beat off the might Sheff Wed or Ipswich? In a way this slightly reminds me of the situation that developed with the ill-fated away game at St. Andrews, 27 years ago was it? If it hadn't been for the Bradford fire we'd have been kicked out of the league permanent forever which totally saved us and overshadowed the whole incident. Maybe this is our turning point because I believe we will sign Ward later today mainly due to his friendship with Pearce who is already our player but if we don't sign him then I think Warnock is gone and LUFC good as finished. Signing Ward will keep NW here and cause other good signings to happen IMO. I don't even want to think about not bagging Ward. No Ward = NW which = No NW! Signing Ward is pivotal to LUFC.

Believable16 Unbelievable16

What if Joel ward decides he wants he wants to stay down south? What if it's nothing to do with what everyone assumes is happening behind the scenes at Elland road?

Agree0 Disagree0

1. I don't think we would have been kicked out of the league for good. Remember, heysel came shortly afterwards
2. I don't think Warnock would quit and if he did would it be such a bad thing? he hardly set the division alight last season.
3. It would not be the end of LUFC.
4. Bates isn't getting any younger, he must be looking to retire in the next few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cracks appearing already and you trying to paper over them with 1 player,,,,, dosnt sound like the mighty Leeds anymore. Back to league 1 ?

Agree0 Disagree0

If colin wants to go let him! We shouldn't have gone for him in the first place, Reading, Southampton, Norwich and Swansea passed their way out of this league with young progressive managers, we went for an old man who sets his team out to kick people. Ward is a good utility player and good prospect, hardly Messi, if he doesn't want to sign never mind and move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

KB & SH havent managed to find the £400k for WARD. So how are they going to find funds for anyone else if this single purchase is so hard to complete ? Just cant see both SNODDY or MAC being allowed to stay cus we simply need money to finance the smallest of deals. 'KB financial Maestro'.... NOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a grip, youre on about ward as it is messi or ronaldo. hes a young defender who has just been relegated. average defenders are 2 a penny come on . just listen to yourself .
