appart from the missed pen, gradel played quality against west ham, i dont see why everyone is saying sell. i would only sell if a ridiculous amount of money came in like 10 million, then we could strengthen defence and defensive

I'd sell because I doubt he'll except the s**t contract that Bates will no doubt offer him so h'll go for free at the end of the season. He's got a good price tag on his head at the moment which the club could use. Obviously whether Grayson will get the money is another thing

Even with 10 million bates wouldn't give Grayson any full stop .

Ed - do you know what Ken Bates said at 1pm today regarding Gradel??

I think it was on Yorkshire Radio but I missed it and cant find it anywhere what was said?

The Great One said that Gradel was going nowhere, that Nunez was good and sarcastically said that it was a shame that he was a free transfer rather than costing us 10 million. He also said that he expects more players in as we head closer to the transfer deadline as players and clubs reduce their demands. He said that he was impressed with how the younger players have started to make their mark in the 1st team. Oh, he also slagged off agents again, so no surprise there. Surprisingly he wasn't asked about Cruz or Forsell. Said he hoped Becchio might be back for the Palace game.

Im not Ed but I heard it. He didn't say much really just the usual 'We've got the makings of a good team, the academy is starting to produce quality players again ie Taylor, White and Lees and Gradel isn't going anywhere'.

He said Gradel is staying put basically, i.e. they have no intention to sell, but if someone offfers 8-1o mill (unlikely IMO), then who knows.

I think it had something to do with west ham not being able to afford him, could be wrong but thats what i think

He said only west ham had made an offer and that was to be paid in stages. He said if they had accepted it then Gradel would be retired by the time we received the last payment. Usual uncle ken sarcasm

Bates also said that we have an excellent scout in south america who got us Becchio and Nunez. He says we are expecting a few more coming our way from there in the not too distant future.

Im surprised that nobody ever asks Ken about whether we are negotiating a new contract with Gradel etc?
I think thats just as an important question if any as if not, we might look to selling him.....I wouldnt be surprised if SG does an 'arsenal' and uses the kids this season like White, Lees, Clayton etc....haven't done bad so far

Even if we don't sign anybody else, please tie up Gradel, Nunez, White (all in their last year) on new contracts- offer better terms to Snoddy & Lees- and make sure O'Dea and Keogh sign at the end of the season on freebies- we then then allow some fringe players move on, and get in someone like Clingan or Montgomery. If Gradel wont sign- sell him NOW- cannot stand losing players for nothing- Beckford, Kilkenny, Johnson- come on Larry & Papa Smurf- sort it out- its' not too much to ask

Please stop begging to sign montgomery he is crap a low level player get him out your head, if we are to move forward we need to be signing much better players than him.

Sama goes for clingan these are not good players that you are craving get some knowledge please these sorts of players will take us down like they are doing with there current clubs.

Show some ambition.

I think you miss the point of my post- it is to sign up those in the last year of their contracts- it is obvious we also need another central midfielder- Lansbury would be great, but read the main body of the message, not just a point upon which you try to have a go

Le forde has been given a price tag of 350k with 50k add ons surly we can afford that let's go for him and sell payter

A player who has never played higher than League One Sorry, this is just rubbish and end of any connection. The player may be good enough for Rotherham and in their league, perhaps he should stay there or even the SPL.

i dont think we should cash in on gradel at all. he is a valuable asset, he will score and create vital goals for us just like last year, he was player of the year and since when do we offer new contracts at summertime?? its always the xmas period....

Exactly, if we are on the up and doing better at xmas than last yr we can sign gradel up. personally i think we will be, we have a better defense and keeper so the silly goals that gave us draws rather than wins last season mite now be rectified

Yea but the thing is the player will get offered brass buttons and then they obviously don't sign so they just lose out on a free in the summer so then we can replace them with someone worse, obviously all about money coz y would u go to other clubs just to sit on the bench, even at Bristol in killas case

Lol at christmas he can sign a pre-contract with anyone, who lets a player get into the last six months of his contract before offering him an extension. Answer: a fool

i think we should cash in on gradel (4 million) and brown for 500k, and we should get Montgomery from sheff united and vassel from Leicester, and we should also get rid of payntner anyone agree?

No I don't agree. If we're going to get anywhere, we need to keep our best players, of which Max is obviously one. We need to tie him down on a long term deal rather than sell him. As for Brown, we've only just bought him, so why sell him? He could be a useful back up to Howson and Clayton should either of them get injured or suspended.
As for Vassel, he was training with us in the pre-season in 2010. We didn't want him then, so why shoould we want him now that he is a year older and a year fatter? We've got enough players who can score goals, and that's not even including the injured Becchio and Somma.

Vassell is crap why do people keep mentioning his name............The sun doesnt shine out of Montgomerys arse either so thats another name we need to drop. We are LEEDS UNITED, not Barnsley. We need to be looking at players on the fringes of their premiership teams not players from League 1 teams. Have some faith man, if we went by your suggestions we would fishing around the has beens and the players who have never improved in League 1/2. We need to be looking at players like Wayne Bridge, Bellamy,Jay Spearing, Danny Wilson

Danny wilson is a 20 year old centre back that liverpool bought from rangers.... very good player with a lot of potential.

A) brown has just signed and albeit a little robust with his challenges, he's the sort of no thrills hard working midfielder we needed. B) Vassel USED to be a pacy little striker with an eye for goal, now he's just sh@te. The players we currently have in the team are capable of gaining a play off place, maybe we get Forsell, maybe we get a couple of premiership teens on loan, they will be squad players at best. No more hold-your-breath-big-name signings for us. Lets just enjoy watching clayton, lees and white as they blossom. MOT

Clayton was an inexperienced youngster last year he was always going to get better, just needed fine tuning but brown, OB are past it and as for paynter hes a L1 player no better, lacks all the quality you need for higher level eg one on ones no composure..
