Oh really let's see what really happens soon

Does anyone think that Hockaday has the ability to take a club the size of Leeds to the next level?, i'm all for backing whoever gets the job but having seen his CV it doesn't inspire much confidence or hope for the future, couple this with the vast amounts of money the relegation sides get and you can see what were up against, the job has destroyed a few managers already, seems a strange choice, four years at a non league club and didn't get above mid table, important job, hope Cellino gets it right first time, if its Hockaday think his reign will be short.

Hockaday is not a manager he is a coach. There is a massive difference. I would have preferred Paul Clement but it is MC's decision and I am prepared to support him. Let's face it nothing else has worked in the recent past.

Agree3 Disagree1

Maybe mc wants that so he can keep his tradition and sack his coaches, god I hope I'm wrong

Agree1 Disagree0

Have to agree with you Rhino, he does not have a good record as a manager or coach. He trained under Graham Taylor at Watford, so are we going to be playing long ball? He was sacked by Watford when a number of senior players complained about the style of play. Relegated in his first season as Forest Green manager. His best ever finish is 10th. God help us!

I forgot, it will all be ok as he is bringing Junior Lewis with him. Lewis is currently a coach at Isthmian League Premier Division side, Hendon FC.

Agree1 Disagree0

So it's not Boothroyd . it's his lesser known assistant. can't see this being successful.

Agree2 Disagree0

May as well have kept McDermott in his tracksuit! this guys record is pretty dreadful

{Ed003's Note - Well start a new thread about it that would be placed on banter rather than trolling a rumour thread.}

I for one am very disappointed with the choice of coach if it is Hockaday, surely we can do better, this is MCs first big decision since taking over and it is a wrong one I know everybody says we don't need a manager but a coach but we still need somebody to motivate the team on match day, pick the right team, employ the best tactics, make changes in the game and this I think is done by an experienced manager not a unknown coach who has never coached at this level. I could have accepted a young up and coming coach who has a track record of being successful in a lower league but come on coach of Forest Green.

Agree2 Disagree0

Is the Hockaday thing serious? Please tell me it's a wind up. Even spellcheck is in shock .

Agree2 Disagree0

The whole Hockaday thing is getting beyond a joke. Have I just awoken from a long coma to find that we have been relegated to the Conference? Seriously. This really could spell the end. Only ever been in charge of one side, a non-league one, and was sacked! 56, yes, fifty-six years old -so not exactly got obvious potential to improve. I just don't get it, when there's pretty much a whole Football League of managers, assistant managers, first team coaches and youth team coaches to choose from. Bonkers!

Agree3 Disagree0

Even if cellino splashes the cash on players. Who's going to want to come and play for hockaday?

Why don't you all stop moaning about hockaday and actually give him a chance?

Well said Craig

So Wackaday it is, if he is the coach(driver), and coaches the players, WHO the hell picks the team? can't see Redfearn, Gibbs, Naylor, being happy with this appointment tbh? I have thought long and hard about this from every angle possible and for the life of me can't see any positives in this at all? Who on earth is going to want to come to play for our great club? MC obviously doesn't want to pay out for anything, wackaday won't inspire anybody to sign for us, its a mess, if you think there are 92 clubs in england alone? I think who all have managers, coaches, academy coaches, youth team coaches, etc etc this is the best we can do?? Our season will be like Butlins finished by october!

Agree1 Disagree0

He comes cheap, that's the be all and end all. Salary 50K a year.

Agree1 Disagree0

Exactly he hasn't even got the job yet and your all throwing your dummy out the pram least give him a season before u all start judging! Had any of u heard of Gary bowyer before he managed Blackburn last year? He didn't do bad did he! Give the guy a chance and get behind him lufc for ever

I really don't think that we should be giving the guy a chance, this is a top job and the coach should have earned the right to manage a massive club. This appointment is a bit like asking a local corner shop owner to be MD at Tesco! The expectations from media, sponsors etc will be far removed from anything he has experienced in the past, this is a global name that he will be fronting as coach, have a look at that vid on the net of the FGR fans wanting rid of him, there are about 1.000 there! Sorry but this is doomed to fail!

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree with some of the comments re Hockaday, but as the role is not a manager then MC looking for different things in a coach so guess it was never going to be high profile.

The way MC has treated coaches in the past seems to imply they are not that important to him, the Director of football and himself are the key to buying players. This works abroad and some big premier clubs have this type of approach even if they do have higher profile managers/coaches.

As we are a championship club we have to spend money wisely, so for me I will support who ever comes in, judge by results even if at this stage it does look a bit odd.

Think the next 2-3 weeks we need to get in 3-4 quality players, if someone bids 8m for Ross I would sell cause then we could get 3 quality players at championship level for sure.

Looking forward (as always) to next season.

Agree1 Disagree1

Why can't everyone just get behind Hockaday he can't do an worse than some of the so called well know managers we've had recently. and as for players not coming to the club because off his CV. I want players t the club who wants to play for Leeds not who wants to play for a manager. would Noel Hunt or Paddy Kenny off come to play for the club? And if Hockaday does come he will be head coach, a part off a team and who knows what caches we have lined up. let's all just get behind the club and all work together and get the club back where it belongs.

Agree2 Disagree1

Why don't you all stop moaning and see if it is actually him that's announced as LUFC new coach!?
