Mike Grella to sit down and discuss his future with SG tommorow. Expect a mutual termination of his contract and Grella to move to a team of out a selection of Carlisle, Doncaster, Huddersfield, and Watford in time for the weekend

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Heard on the grapevine that Leeds United want to swap Mike Grella for Gary Roberts at Huddersfield
Would be a good move for Leeds United

Agree0 Disagree0

Grella just have some pride and leave , you have'nt got the quality pal

Agree0 Disagree0

I live in carlisle and love ta c mike here i think he was quite good in league 1 always caused problems for carlisle when we played leeds jp trophy northern final defo made the difference when he came on :) (leeds fan from carlisle)

One bit of Beckford transfer news and hes being linked back? Maybe on loan but there is no links with him from us,

He said when he left that he loved being here and that everyday he had a smile on his face when he attended thorp arch, so the "fans" who dislike him, just remember, his goal got us the win over man u, his goal got us up, yes it want just him but he played a major part so stop saying he wanted to leave and that he is rubbish.

Hope the Santa Cruz rumours are true but cant see the wages we can offer being enough for city but we will see

MOT

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Beckford coming back? are you kidding? he is the only fit striker at everton, and leicester are tabling a bid for him.
You are talking rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there is a minority mate, beckford gor 6k a week, never got offered more when a new contract was put in front of him, would you sign? i wouldn't and why not exel yourself and got the prem, good on him i thought, a true leeds legend, our star player though our troubled times, good luck to the lad wherever he goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure that he won't return but I for one would welcome him with open arms, if can't play in the Premiership he should be at Leeds we made him

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done to Kilkenny tonight for contributing to beating Leicester...

:@)

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Hmmmm very strange how he plays for the 1st time and they manage to win and even stranger how we won a much higher percentage of games last season with him in the team than without him, best player we had by far

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 21:18:07
i wonder what all those sad leicester fans are thinking having spent all that money..and how would leeds fans react if we had spent that much and still be s..t like they are, kasper looks crap too

Believable10 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2011 19:08:03
Jermaine Beckford will probs come back to leeds cause he didnt want to go from the club and he wanted to play in the championship with leeds

5million or unless if bates adds to the hotel

Believable8 Unbelievable12

Ha ha ha get a grip, I'll pay every Leeds fan £1 if he comes back, and I mean it

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll happily pay bates £1 not to take him back overrated beckford

Agree0 Disagree0

He did not want to play in the championship at all he wonted to play in the premier leauge why do you think he left

Agree0 Disagree0

You really need to give your head a shake if you think we can afford 5 million Beckford would be detrimental to the team too with his attitude and how many chances it takes for him to score. 1 goal in about 6 chances and it's not as if he makes up for it with his work rate like keogh.

Agree0 Disagree0

F***ing hell screw your head on why would he come back he's had his time with us and now he's moving on

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you stupid what kind of buissnes would this be release a player for free then buy him back for millions a few seasons later

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 17:38:46
Why are people calling for beckford to come back, he didn't want to be at Leeds that's why he left. It's just a pity everton will get a couple of million for him when he made a name for himself at the mighty whites It's all about whether you have the heart to play for leeds united, beckford had a little tangerine where as bechio has a big Jaffa - can't wait for him to recover from his injury. MOT

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Beckford Will score far more than Becchio FACT Mckormack is more talented than both of them

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, Beckford was brought to fame and fortune via Leeds United, he showed no loyalty at all, alright he scored goals but he was lazy, moody and never scored as many as he should have. An average striker sitting on the bench for a below average premiership side, we're better off with the situation the way it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

What did Beckford actually do wrong? He did exactly what anyone would do if they were offered a better job, with greater earnings He was great for Leeds and scored goals for fun, get off his case you bitter and twisted little man MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah we dont want him upsetting the dressing room again, which he obviously did

Agree0 Disagree0

Without Beckford we wouldn't have gone up and he scored the goal that took us up and he scored the goal that beat Man United. Leeds could've cashed in but the club chose not to and Becks earned the right to move. I am not saying we should resign him but why knock him?
He gave me more joy than sorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't blame him for wanting to earn a better wage and the chance of playing in the premier league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't dis Beckford... He did what he needed to do for us... I cant say anything wrong about him...

I would have him back tomorrow ..

He wanted to try at the highest level and he got it... and a whopping pay rise .. What would you do ?

Agree0 Disagree0

I wrote the first post, I'm not slating beckford & I agree without his goalscoring abilities we wouldn't have gained promotion. The point I was tryin to make was let's have some confidence in the strikers we've got because they've got bags of talent As for the 'bitter & twisted little man' comment I think you may have got it wrong son - simmer down

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford is not a a massive player I don't he will ever play for Leeds again I'm a good mate of fab delphs n I spoke to jermaine n he has a bit of an ego, I personally think he thinks he is well above Leeds now n all he ranted on about was wot he has bought n wot he is gonna spend his money on , he thinks he is prem all the way n he is gonna stay there so don't ever think he would come back, he won't even look twice at west ham or Leicester so trust me don't expect

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford will not drop a division so don't worry about him

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford is a good player yeah hes lazy... so what thats his style. and yeah we wouldnt have got promoted with out him and yeah i agree he'd probably score like 25+ in a season i the championship..

Agree0 Disagree0

He did well for us, and I'm grateful, but Becchio signed a new contract when there was reported Premiership interest in him, so that's loyalty.

Plus, yes Beckford scored 11 or something last season, but how many did he miss? Tons.

Agree0 Disagree0

End of the day beckford got us promoted and had the game of his life for us on that day...however he wanted to go and he did...he has moved on, time for us to

Miss A

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford is a minor great - our best player in troubled times. Why would they sell him anyway, it's not like he failed.

i think for West Ham Grayson will go with the 5 man midfield again, with McCormack in for Gradel on the wing.

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Line up for west ham (4-5-1)
Lonergan
White
O'dea
Kisnorbo
Lees
Gradel
Howson
Brown
Clayton
Snody
Keogh

Nunez can count himself unlucky after a good display against Hull, the fact is we are away to west ham and need to think a bit more defensively. I just cant see Grayson leaving out Keogh although i would prefer McCormack up there. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I would keep the same team to be honest .... Why change a winning team?

Agree0 Disagree0

The only change will be Howson for Nunez, unlucky for him but it's unthinkable to leave out the club captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would personally stick with the 4 4 2 from the win against Hull....i would drop Brown and Nunez and bring in Howson and Gradel. Brown hasn't shown much in the games so far so should give way to Howson - and Nunez played well against Hull and can count himself unlucky to be sat on the bench - but he doesn't have the Gradel touch of class.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you leave Brown out you're leaving the defence very exposed

Agree0 Disagree0

We played the 5 man midfield against southampton and it didnt work, 442 is our best formation, we dont have a big strong skilfull front man who can hold it up

Agree0 Disagree0

Should be exact same line up as hull game as it is the only line up to have performed this season , but grayson falls at the feet of captain invisible howson and really he's crap

Agree0 Disagree0

Gradel touch of class???
he never looks before he crosses , poor discipline and attitude , gradel is not fit to lace nunez boots , wake up you tit

Roque Santa Cruz would want to move to Leeds on loan if Manchester City allow him to.

Believable13 Unbelievable8

17 Aug 2011 12:55:16
Santa cruz linked with a move to leeds, no
way would we be able to afford him or his
wagges, wat do u think ed? {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Man city might be prepared to pay the majority of the wages

Agree0 Disagree0

It's just his agent trying to drum up some intrest in his usually injured player .Go on then Sven take the bait

Agree0 Disagree0

City will more than likely pay all or most of his wages. like they did with bellamy..

Agree0 Disagree0

They would have to pay nearly all of his wages for this deal to happen, he must be on 100k a week at least?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 15:15:31
Right now's the time to capitalise on this win and go forward with a 4 4 2 formation and also to STOP the constant bickering and in fighting between the club and the clubs fan base. Time to go forward. If your reading Simon, please keep with this formation. All the best.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

Simon reads this all the time, gives him an idea of what players to sign. in fact he says he is now definitely going to sign roque santa cruz on loan. watch this space... ha.

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence but 4-4-2 wont work in every game.. and simon will know what formation will suit his players best against WHU.

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence taken, but we need a settled side that will keep winning not a side that swaps and changes to suit. We must play to our strengths and totally crush other teams(esp Leicester). I belove with a settled team, we can achieve.

Have you read bates latest Gem? "The rebuilding of Leeds United is a bit like sex. In an age of instant gratification, Leeds United is having a long, drawn-out affair with plenty of foreplay and slow arousal"

No matter what you think of Cuddly ken you've got to love his entertainment value

Believable12 Unbelievable4

We can now add a new name to the ones already given to him - creepy Ken.

Agree0 Disagree0

'unbelievable' in the sense I can't believe he even compared us to sex

Agree0 Disagree0

It's just plain wrong I still feel pretty sick from reading it last night

Agree0 Disagree0

Don Revie summoned a gypsy from Scarborough to Elland Road. Her mission was to exorcise whatever curse might be hanging over the ground and bringing his team ill-luck in crucial matches. she needs to return and exorcise ken bates away...the only way we can get back in the premier league and stay there. showing my age now what you think ED

Agree0 Disagree0

Now I'm no great big Ken Bates fan but I do think in the present climax, sorry climate, he is doing a good job in keeping the club's head well and truly above water with Larry, in my opinion doing a superb job on a shoestring budget. Time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've got a name for the guy, 'no mates Bates' LMAO

Agree0 Disagree0

After the thought of it made me do a sick burp i did have a smile at Kens comments. Ken (swiss Tony) Bates

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever you think of Ken - he was the one who put his money where his mouth was way back when....remember that....and without him stepping in...who knows where Leeds Utd would be today???....i can see sense in his rationale in making the ground capable of bringing in revenue other than just on matchdays....saturday/midweek monies won't have the tills pinging....but the revenue that greater facilities brings in will hopefully start pulling in a few quid... and that can be put into the playing squad...yeah as fans i know we have to hope that happens....after all it's all well and good putting the money into the commercial side...but if you have a poor football team on the pitch....who is going to want to have the "cudos" of coming to elland road??....a team which is successful makes ER far more appealing to businesses and visitors etc... to use the facilities....just my thoughts.... SJA

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like theres too much viagra floating around elland road with slow arousals and plenty of foreplay. sounds about right for a club thats hard up lol. bates is doing thee right thing by the club. lets not go down the ridsdale route again and have a situation where there nearly isn't a club to support and be proud of........ MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^ sorry if ive read that wrong but i swear you have just contradicted yourself

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really.....just because we haven't done a Leicester....doesn't mean our current squad is bad now ....which i don't think it is.... so....if the building of the club continues as it appears to be doing....the long term investment that comes in from the commercial side will allow us to build on the field even better than we have now...by that i mean Premiership squad.... so my comments about pulling in the commercial market and customer is more a long term vision than the here and now....Rome wasn't built in a day

Santa cruz linked with Leeds as his farther agent said Leeds would be a good team to join to benifit him

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Would love to see this happen and think we are big enough to attract somebody like Santa Cruz...

Will never happen though as Bates wont cough up the brass to pay for quality like him

Agree0 Disagree0

I take it this agent is "farther" away, like Paraguay far, and isn't aware we haven't been in the Champions League for ten years.

Agree0 Disagree0

His scoring recore over the past few seasons have been piss poor, why do we need another striker who cant score, hed struggle even in the championship, dont need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 14:22:28
To be honest I think that the newspapers made up the Santa Cruz story because they were short on material. At not one point in the interview with Santa Cruz' dad does it say that Leeds are interested. His dad (and rightly so) says:

"The second division is very competitive in England, with powerful teams who were in the top division and have huge stadiums, like Leeds United, but the future will be decided by Manchester City."

He says Leeds are a big and important club but doesn't say that we're interested in signing him. Tbh I'm not sure we need strikers at the moment with Keogh, McCormack and Forssell on trial. That aside though, I wouldn't grumble if he did come

Believable6 Unbelievable6

His father obviously does not know the Leeds wage stucture.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds and Man City have a good business relationship,So anything is possible in football, even at LEEDS
Imagine Santa Cruz and Becchio up front for LEEDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah at last someone who has checked the story saves me writing the same commfnt

Leeds utd mAke a season long loan enquiry for man city cf roque Santa cruz .mot
Just imagine becchio and Cruz as our cf pairing ...happy days ahead ...Leeeds Leeeds Leeeds

Believable10 Unbelievable7

Dream on,what makes you think he would be that gd in a leeds shirt anyway keogh was brill last night

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not needed McCormack and keogh showed that last night. Spend the cash if there is any on another midfielder and another Central defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Santa Cruz and Becchio? If Santa Cruz was to come, then it would have to be McCormack and Santa Cruz. Becchio and Santa Cruz are similiar players.McCormack would have to play with one or the other. Santa Cruz would score far more goals in this division than Becchio.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 13:34:53
For once someone on this isn't lying Scroll down and someone claims Leeds are try to seal a deal on something that would blow the league away Links with roque Santa cruz make this claim believable

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Me too sick of hearing about the demonstrating lets get behind them, whatever happens tough game sunday

If the paying fans want to demonstrate, then they have every right to, thats the beauty of living in a democracy, wether you think they have a justified point or not.

I have it on good authority that the demo against Bates has got to him more than he'll admit.
His management team have finally stood up to him and told him his programme comments were ill-advised.
My understanding is that at a post-game meeting last night, Bates threw his toys out of the pram and suggested that he's going to resign his Chairmanship and let Harvey & Co run the show if they felt they could do better.

My source is a senior manager in one of the club's key sponsors who spoke to Harvey last night.

Believable9 Unbelievable13

I doubt very much that 300 people out of over 22k leeds that were at the match would worry bates at all. Its water off a ducks back so i would say you are ill informed.

Agree0 Disagree0

What board meeting? I am unaware of any meeting held with Mr Bates or other members of the Leeds Utd board since early August, so this story is false. As for Mr Bates not being happy with the Leeds Utd supporters who have expressed their thoughts on his ownership, I think he stated what he thought of them & anyone else who joins them, as required.

Agree0 Disagree0

The meeting was not described as a board meeting - It was just an impromptu after game get-together

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh is that how a chairman suggests that he might resign? in an "inpromptu after game get-together?" dont talk out of your a*se lad

Agree0 Disagree0

I do believe you are talking out your john ritter mate

Agree0 Disagree0

The threat made by Bates was (I'm told) exactly as described - an impromptu meeting where a conversation started about the wisdom of his programme notes.
Bates being Bates, he didn't like being questioned and made the threats before walking off in a huff....

Santa cruz on 90k a week we best keep dreaming

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Apparently the parent club is to pay a large part of his salary

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have to be nearly all of it, would be sensational if it came off, we have a good relationship with man city, clayton came from there.

Leeds looking at Sheffield United players Nick Montgomery and Steve Simonsen in an £800,000 deal

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Montomery possible, but why Simonsen?, Lonegran looks good in goal and Rachukba fine as back up if needed

Agree0 Disagree0

Simonson turn leeds down when he was released by everton to go to stoke , he has had his chance with us , if he thought stoke was better then us at the time then xxxx him

Just read that Roque Santa Cruz of Man City would consider a move to Leeds, a report on the news now web site suggests that Leeds are interested in Roque, his father has stated that teams in the championship that used to be in the premier are interesting to him, he has had a lot of injuries recently but is desperate to leave Man City if a deal can be struck, He goes on to say because Leeds have a good history in the premier and a big stadium he would consider them if a deal can be done, might be a good signing for the championship now, what do you all think?.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

No way too expensive for a start in wages. I think in keogh and Ross mac we have a partnership that will only get better if they are kept playing together.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be good if it came off, but can you really see us being able to afford his wages. With what Bates said about wage structures, budgets etc. if we could not afford Smith then we cant afford Santa Cruz

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt this will happen will cocky santa claus as chairman

Agree0 Disagree0

Santa cruz had one good season at Blackburn he wud do well at champuionship leval but i think he will go abroad tbh only Leicester i think wud pay his wages

Agree0 Disagree0

Will happen if Man city pay 3 quarters of his wages......how did Cardiff get Bellamy last year

Agree0 Disagree0

Season long loan with us paying 20% of his wages

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing in the article suggests that Leeds are interested in him or he is interested in moving to Leeds. His father merely points out that there are big teams in the championship, like Leeds United.

Agree0 Disagree0

Be a brilliant signing cos city will pay most of his wages

Ed, didn't see the game. How did Lees look, could he be a proper LUFC central defender in the making? Opinions people? {Ed007's Note - I'm just covering the pages just now, but if O'Dea played for you last night could someone tell me what you thought of him etc, thanks guys. And congratulations on the win.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

O'Dea was untroubled and solid for most of the night. Won headers, tackled well and played some great balls out wide towards Snodgrass. Unlike most of our previous centre backs, and maybe this is because he is used to playing left back, he managed to pass the ball around to the midfield and use the wide men really well. He played really good {Ed007's Note - I wanted to keep him at CFC this season, I rate him better than Majstorovic (the big baldy Swede on TV to you guys probably). I'm glad he got off to a good start, good luck for the season lads. Play-offs at worst for you I hope. Thanks for the info as well.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Went to the game last night, the entire back line looked really solid, O'Dea played centre, and Lees played RB, White played LB. O'dea seemed to have a much better game at CB which apparently is his natural position. All were exceptional. Lees was unlucky under pressure when he scored the own goal, but a cracking strike to even it out. But their chances were really limited to half chances and Lonergan was amazing when needed, came for crosses, had an idea where the ball was going to land...a far cry from Schmeichels flappings.

Agree0 Disagree0

O'Dea looked a lot more assured at Centre Half, with Paddy alongside him we
looked a lot stronger

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny how most of you were slanging O'Dea off when I told you all how good he was oh and most of you were slaging off lonergan compared to kasper now you beginning to see how good they really are and without Gradel, Becchio, Somma, Howson Bromby, the list goes on. Kill ken said morons whodont know football

Agree0 Disagree0

People slagged him off as a LB not as a CB, and a couple of the goals were faulted by Lonergan in all fairness mate, the thing that riled me was people all over Graysons back

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate they flagged him off before he even played tell what goalkeeper in the world would have stopped any that he conceded because the goals against Southampton were in mersons words worldies as for boro nothing he could do be lucky it wad not kasper or we would be worse off.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the first comment thank you i suport LUFC and CFC wish theyd have a pre season

i have to say i am very suprised how well adam clayton is doing. I admit that due to money i cnt go to games much now bt frm highlights of games i am impressed. I dnt think we need many players, maybe a left bk as parker awful and to fight with aidy white. Think keogh wil do a gud job wi ross mc. Have faith in our team nw with a win behind us we wil move up the table

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Was at the match last night. Keogh was quality never mind he didn't score (which some people will complain at) his work rate was immense. Clayton has been in my opinion our best player so far. Ive seen him from the newcastle game to last night and in every game has been stand out performer. Nunez needs to be tied down to a longer term contract this is going to be a big season for him. Lonergan in my opinion just keeps getting better he made a point blank save that the top keepers in the world would have been pleased with.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldnt agree more with the above. altohugh nunez looked tired with about 20mins to go .

Agree0 Disagree0

Bang on Clayton was superb last night. Lonergan way better than Kasper

Snoddy to leave Leeds as he waved goodbye to elland road faithful last night for the last time

Believable8 Unbelievable14

You're quite clearly a non-Leeds S### stirer old chap

Agree0 Disagree0

Was at game and didnt notice him doing anything different to what he does at end
of every game- thanking the fans for their support

Agree0 Disagree0

So does that mean everytime a player waves at his fans for anyone at anygame they will be leaving. I don't think so otherwise whole squads would be leaving at the end of every season (lap of honour around the pitch)

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this one of the Leeds United morons that Bates was on about? ... i think so

Agree0 Disagree0

I spoke to one his mates and he said he will never leeds and he took his time coz he was so proud to play for us and sed the fans are amazing and the team are proud aswell and grayson said the players have to give the fans a proper applause because without them there wunt be a leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

All I can say fella is your a tw@t Snoddy always waves at the fans to thank us for our support as we are the best in the world. MOT

I wasnt at the game last night, anyone any feedback on how white did.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Played very well The problem he had in the first half was that he kept showing a left footed right winger inside so he had more options (eg shots, crosses) but he still managed to tackle and stop crosses. In the second half he learned from his mistakes and showed the winger outside, got some great blocks in and managed to cover the whole defence with his lightning pace. I'd like to see him in the team every week. He's just what we need

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 09:13:36
Think Brown should be replaced with JH come Sunday.. However think Nunez looks better than Gradel and we should keep the 4.4.2 with Gradel on the Bench - Keogh was excellent upfront and his partnership with Ross Mac will be explosive now the confidence is there.. Lonergan what a signing them saves off Matty Fryatt were world class

MOT 12th and climbing (fast)

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Very happy with the performance last night but i do think gradel is better than nunez gradel's work rate is immense and especially against west ham is waht we will need against a quality midfield. brown had a good second half last night but i do think grayson will drop either mccormack or keogh for howson and go 4-5-1 at west ham

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson isn't as good as brown in a 4-4-2...howson can only play in the one position which is the free to attack position from midfield...he isn't as affective when in the standard 4-4-2.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree SG will revert back to 4-5-1. He should bite the bullet and go 4-4-2. S**t or bust is what I say

Forest and Leicester trying to negotiate a deal for beckford, forest have offered 3.5 million which may look to get the deal, but also look to have got yakubu, I think witth there quality of the strike force they will only get one so cmon Leeds show some ambition and let's get beckford, surely you have 3 million Ken

Believable3 Unbelievable12

You dnt need noar want beckford back if he wanted leeds he would of signed new contract but he never, just a shame with these millions being talked about for him leeds didnt c a penny

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford will not be for sale, Everton needs goals, and even with a handful of starts and sub appearances he stikll got double figures last year it will take 7 + mil for him and I dont think even Leicester have that and Forest definitely do not

Agree0 Disagree0
