Mates works at WH, says there has been a flurry of bets on Gordon Strachan...

Its worth a quid

Believable6 Unbelievable33

Don't see it happening myself. But on a wish list, Strachan would be near the top. Passion, determination and a true legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really useless manager in England and do we really want another stroppy Scottish manager winding up Geoff shrives because he's not happy answering straight forward questions.he'll probably bring Mcallister as assistant and how great was he at Leeds .let's stick with mc carthy or warnock

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard this 'rumour' on another website, it seems to be gathering pace.

I'd have Strachs in without any hessitation

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic player- don't ruin the memory by coming back. He has been a poor manager in England and that won't change

KB has said no to mccarthy and mccarthy has said no to leeds...KB has also said no to clark as he doesnt have experience managing in the championship (source: sky under snodgrass - players to blame)

personally i think its still going to be warnock

Believable10 Unbelievable16

Kb has not said no to clark and the article doesnt say that

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not said no to McCarthy either, just denied offering him the job like the press already printed!

Agree0 Disagree0

It won't be Warnock, it won't be McCarthy. These are outspoken managers who will need & expect money for transfers. Expect a puppet/someone being given a big break so they owe Bates.

The situation for us is absolutely grim. Bates' behavior is increasingly erratic, irrational and nonsensical and whilst he continues to hold the club in this stranglehold, Leeds fans will see that no-one wants to work for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the 1st commenter: the article DOES say about clark....read at the bottom of the page the last two paragraphs....

So Bates wants to raise 15M for the ground, huh? Told all you guys 2 years ago Bates would buy back the ground in Summer 2012 once the Olympics has artificially inflated property prices throughout the UK. We all know who LUFC is buying the ground back from, don't we? So long as Master Bates makes his tidy profit...maybe once that's done he can go away permanently. I think that is what is on the cards. Some Leeds businessman is going to save us from him some point next season 2013 once the buyback of the ground is completed and the dust has settled. Wouldn't surprise me if we sack another manager in 2013 too.

Believable30 Unbelievable6

He never said this, he was talking about when he tried to buy back Stamford Bridge

i quote - At Chelsea, we tried to raise £15m to buy the ground Stamford Bridge. Took 10 years to make £1.5m. Most of that was from friends of mine

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand that every single fan of this club is frustrated at the moment, and wants someone to blame, but seriously, if you have proof about all this, I'd love to see it.

So he's going to sell his football ground to his club and make a massive profit is he? When did he buy Elland Road? Does he own Thorp Arch too? Maybe he'll sell the club to himself at an inflated price so he can make his tidy profit.

What rubbish!

Agree0 Disagree0

"We're trying to raise £15m to buy the ground; at Chelsea it took 10 years to raise £1.5m."

This says to me that the £15m is to buy ER.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is ER really worth £15m? seems a high price to me for a ground thats 20 years out of date!

Agree0 Disagree0

"At Chelsea we tried to raise £15m to buy the ground Stamford Bridge. . ."; just read the damn article ('What Ken Said') and stop wasting everyone's time.

Agree0 Disagree0

What would be the point in Bates buying the ground if he already owns it? He may as well put the money straight in his pocket. He's not, therefore he doesn't already own it.

The thing is, there's no reason for Bates to try any of this clandestine stuff. Lets face it- he' not a fool.

The fact is that football is not a moneymaking business. The only way for him to make money is to sell the club. The only way for him to sell it at a value that's worth it for him is to get the club in the Premier League, because until then, who'd bother buying it when you could buy a team such as Norwich or Fulham etc. who are already in the Premiership?

Every year that Leeds is not in the PL is gonna cost him time and money, until he can sell to an Abramovich equivalent. I don't see how it could possibly align with his interests to do anything other than that. I also don't see how noone else can see that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Half agree with the last post Yep KB is waititng to get in the Premiership so he can sell for a tidy profit to someone. (only my opinion not a rumour or fact). But i do believe he already owns ER just like he owned Leeds United or had the majority share before he supposedly bought that from some unknown people that dont wish to be named but really I dont care if he does as long as he gets us back up and then follows my plan and sells us to someone with shed loads of money so we can get back to the top of the tree where we belong

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyone is niave enough to think that Ken Bates (to quote him from Panorama way back) "doesn't know who owns Teak Trading" (owners of ER and Thorpe Arch)based conveniently in a tax haven somewhere in the West Indies, with no accounts in the UK or records of named share holders, think again, WHEN ELSE would a businessman (KB) invest a reported £7 million into the improvement of a stand in a ground he DOES not own and not expect to turn a future profit from his investment, WAKE UP, if it was your £7 million would you do it?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the guy above. and if Ken owns elland road himself through Teak Trading what better way to make some money before selling Leeds then to sell it to Leeds United. Meaning the club would take 15m hit, and teak would take the profit and line ken pocket. Then when he comes to sell the club he has the stadium, training ground and the team to sell to someone. Lining his pocket further. Also why buy Fulham or Norwich when a team like Leeds has a greater fan base, a history other clubs would die for and would be available cheeper then those as we are in championship? which would you pick? michael jackson statue or billy bremner? But i truly believe ken will offset the sale of the stadium against leeds so he is financially better off before selling it.
