Rudy Austin to leave in January
{Ed003's Note - Where? }
Let's hope so. Nice bloke, but will never be better than mediocre. Championship has always looked a level too high for him. Ill-disciplined and inconsistent, with appalling ball control. We need to move on from the failings of the past -hence Redders correct (in my view) policy of moving on Hunt and Wootton, with Murphy and Morison to follow. The mere mention of those names is a reminder of how abject the McDermott era was. Chapel A.
With all his defects and his stats don't fully support your critism of him, he is probably the only mid fielder with with any real drive or bite in the team. Whilst I agree we should be getting better players we should lose Rody until someone who is actually better is on the books. At the moment we have a powder puff mid field who usually, not always, plays accurate abd pretty football. We need more. Like it or not Austin should be on the pitch for at least part of every game and usually starting until, as I have said, we get someone better at doing what he tries to do. That is break opponents attacks, get the tackles in, run at the opposition and set up opportunities for others. A mid field leader is what we need, Austin is what we have.
I agree Hesslian he's only talked about when he has a bad game and never when he has a good one. I agree we should keep him until we have a better option or it might just come back to haunt us
