Davide Somma out for 5/6 months, maybe some substance in the Billy Sharp rumour, dont think we will spend that sort of money tho, maybe a loan on a young striker.....or maybe even Sanchez Watt who can also play in that position? {Ed046's Note - They will be numerous good players available on loan when premier league teams submit their squads

When pl teams submit there 25 man squads it will be same as last season. Nt many teams registered 25 players cos u dont have to register under 21s. I doubt there will be a player worth having if they arent in the 25.... (same as last season)

IF we spend any money it will be on defence and, definitely, midfield not up front where we have got more than enough cover, with or without somma

Oh my your DESPERATELY grasping at straws.
If you read his post properly he wasnt giving you hope, merely stating the troubles preventing the deal taking place. If anything its more likely it wont happen deary.

It wont happen, because as Geordie ed stated their are big problems in the way, all of which wont change. His wages are too high, we wont be able to afford it alone come the end of the year, the fans opinions on him arent going to change by the time the friendly comes round, and he isnt willing to drop his wages. What part of that is in any way positive or hinting that hes coming? Im thankful for the new information but it still suggests that its very unlikely to come off. Lets all move on he is someone elses problem and not ours.

Yes he is taking out seats for more space for boxes as he thinks he will make more money that way from hiring out boxes, im not happy cos max attendance now on 36,000 or something like that, he also i think is doing up the iterior a bit like the north east bit of the stadium with the sort of cafe things

They are removing boxes in south stand. Capacity will increase. Only slightly. As far as i know they are upgrading as planned for 2018 world cup. So End up 50,000 capacity. My guess is they knock down the building at the back of the west stand and upgrade that like the East stand.

Improvements to it ie Executive boxes etc in order to obtains more profit when he flogs it

The article is from the newspaper and is pure conjecture, There has been no bid from Lille or Fulham and the bid from West Ham was £2.5m not £1m if the YEP is to be believed (I would trust them over the Mirror when it comes to stories coming out of Elland Road)

Also who Max would or wouldn't be willing to sign for only becomes relevant one a club has had a bid accepted by Leeds as he is under contract.

{Ed008's Note - Good player for the championship, good set piece taker would fit along with Howson nicely in the middle.

Clingan is a fair player at this level. We could do a lot worse in my opinion.

I personally think it's a smokescreen smith has told people he'd take a wage cut but u don't think it's obviously enough for ken Bates it's like the secret service with Leeds tbh I enjoy going on here but doubt many of us can say for certain what's going on with any potential target.

YEP states that the deal is unlikley with Smith stating he does not want ANY cut in wage. The current proposition means him taking a 5k cut.

Leeds manager Simon Grayson says he was not "over impressed" by Alan Smith's lack of motivation to join Leeds by saying he will not take a penny less than his deal at Newcastle.

Grayson admitted recently that filling the centre of his midfield was a priority for the club after Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny his partnership for most of last season left Elland Road on free transfers.

But Leeds are understood to be no closer signing him as they were when the transfer window opened.
The Championship club have expressed a firm interest in the 30-year-old but the task of prising him away from St James Park was always riddled with complications.
Smith is earning in the region of £55,000 a week and has one year remaining on his contract on Tyneside.
Newcastle are ready to release him on a free transfer but the player is believed to be unwilling to accept any deal which forces him to take a wage cut.
The former England international would receive a vastly decreased wage at Elland Road, though Newcastle are said to be contemplating funding a portion of the salary owed to him next season to facilitate a transfer.

If he went abroad i would say Good Luck Max and hope he does really well. But if he went to an english team id be unhappy. I wouldnt want him to leave. I think if we did sell him, £6m would be good business. But he was ever present last year and scored 18 goals from midfield. Bound to be interest in him.

Max gradel is about as near as you can get to rod wallace (1991) leeds utd should do all they can to keep him at 23 he canonly get better. anagram this leu destined for ever.

I think we have plenty of good options if he goes. Sam Nunez and buy watt {Ed015's Note - no idea, aint really thought about it, but i doubt he will leave, we made him who he is, he was unknown before}

If Grayson thought Nunez, Sam and Watt were better then Gradel, then why didnt he played them more last season, instead of him?

Since when has that bothered a pro footballer? Milner, Lennon and Delph went like scalded cats when they knew they could earn much more money and play at a higher level. Max will be history if the right bid comes in and he will say how much of a wrench it is to leave leeds, but he has to think of his future and his family blah, blah, blah Ed, if you were offered a job tomorrow that tripled your wages your arse would be a blur...............

I get what you are saying about why did SG not play Nunez Sam or watt last season. But the form gradel was on they did not get a chance I think Sam is a good player (fast good feet got a few goals last season) and SG has said he expects big things of Nunez this season so if he got a run in the team I feel he could do a good job

It's all opinions, but Watt was a terrible player in my opinion. Nowhere near good enough for the Championship

If an offer from premiership / top division team comes in Gradel will leave. Furthermore Sam isnt good enough for this level, from what i saw in all the home games and a few away games last year and neither is sanchez watt. Hopefully we will get more than we deemed was enough to let kasper grow and bring in more quality.
