Monk would still have left because he wasn't going to be given a say in transfers regardless of how much we will or won't have to spend.

Not so sure Swadlad, he was a £10m rated player but he didn't have the best season last year. Add that to Jose wanting to move him on with players incoming it drops his price a bit. That said I would expect to pay £5-7m for him but we could always do a loan to buy like we had with Pedraza so we only sign him if we go up. He might not even want to drop down a division but worth a call to club and agent.

Someone higher up the league will get him plenty of premiership teams with worse players than him. He's too good for the championship imo. And to the other post, monk had players here who did well so don't think it would have been about him not having a say, more chance it was a lack of transfer money because he's gone to boro who will have quite abit more to spend and if they just miss out on promotion straight back up I think they would accept that and give him another season but Leeds you don't get that chance. At Leeds they expect miracles from below average managers and then get disappointed that they don't ever get anywhere.

Reportedly we are turning our attentions to Man United goalie Sam Johnstone as we have not made a firm offer for Stockdale. Villa and Sunderland also interested.

£5m is the fee requested, not so sure we've got that:/ if anything were least likely because he's been at villa and Sunderland have just sold Pickford. Be good to get him though

It an interesting one, if we did follow up the £3.5m for Jansson and £1.7m for Sacko with a £5m for Johnstone it would be a big show of intent for next season, worries me that we haven't been linked with any CB's or LB's yet though, GK not really our worry right now.
