Just been scouting the web to look for strikers that we could/should maybe be looking at who is 24 and under (McD's requirement) when I saw Philipp Hosiner's name come up. He's a 24 year old striker playing in Austria and this season he scored 41 goals in 48 games. Over his career so far he's scored roughly 100 goals in just over 200 appearances. Not that long ago (end of last month) there were reports of interest for him coming from the championship so I think he could be in our range in terms of wage/transfer fee
Believable33
Unbelievable8
Am sure I saw his name pop up in the last few week linked to a couple of places with at least one a prem club. can't remember who but I think it was someone mid table. Unfortunately after a season like that they will want a decent outlay for him and he will probably want better wages than Championship (which may be why he didn't move before). For me its a big risk though. He might be scoring for fun in a poor league but that's no guarantee if he comes over to england, remember £7m Alonso Alves? 45 in 39 in the dutch league, 4 in 38 for Middlesbrough. Can we really afford to take risks on unproven players? (unless we can get him on the cheap) and before anyone says Matt Smith at least he has played in the English league.

Someone else posted on here about this fella Ithink last week, cracking player. No risk at all, he's done it for Austria as well, tbh I'm surpised he's not at a top club already

Good player on Champ Manager.

Could be worth looking at, remember when we got JFH from Portugal in the summer of 97, he were unknown, he soon became a household name.

Did well for Reading in the championship in 2011/12 season, for this division he, l be a good signing, 12 months ago we were signing Andy gray, so hunt is a improvement on that and can offer us something next season.

Not slating this post, however with the likes of Liverpool & Newcastle reportedly snooping around Alex Pearce, I see this as highly unlikely. Reece Wabara on the other hand I can see happening due to much speculation and the player himself failing to rule the move out on twitter. Hope you're right about both though mate.

Pearce is signing for Liverpool.

Leeds in advance talks for a 1 million pound move for QPR striker Bobby Zamora FACT

A) FACT
B) We've signed Matt Smith and Noel Hunt (inevitable) so why would we sign a 3rd striker we'd then have too many strikers on the books

Didn't Zamora turn down a new contract at Fulham because QPR offered him £50k? There is not a chance that we will even bid for him.

Leeds will Not be signing players there require a large Transfer fee or large wages as GFH will not back Brian Mcdermott so we will be signing loans and Free agents
Believable45
Unbelievable27
What makes you say this?
Agree0
Disagree0
Loans & Free Agents doesn't necessarily mean low wages at all, or in any way low ambition. If players like Arshavin, Malouda, Di Santo etc were to come to Leeds (although highly unlikely) would you be complaining? All Free Agents this summer; just food for thought.
Agree1

I would imagine he's saying it based on the past three years of transfer activity. Why would you expect anything else?
Agree0

Sounds true to be honest prob best rumour I've eared on here
Agree0

If they wasn't going to back him why would they employ him?
Agree0

Why would any club look to buy players on large transfer fees, you look for the best deals, OP just a sad townie by the sound of it.
Agree0
Disagree0
Can see us getting a few more under 24s available free or for a small fee, don, t mind that myself, as its good to get young hungry players in the club, not the rubbish OAP ex sheffield united mob we have at the club now, whom we will find hard to move on.
Agree0
Disagree0
Also don't see this as a bad move.
Building a club on proven youngsters learning from experienced professionals is the ideal, isn't it?
Personally, I don't hold with the spending of hundreds of millions creating a Championship Manager team and hoping they blend or you lose your job.
Organic growth through a mixture of academy prospects and hungry young imports, playing an expressive game. isn't that what we're all crying out for?
Isn't that what any fan wants for their club?
Maccy D just needs to blend the prospects with the experience, playing the sort of football we started to see at the end of the season and we maybe. just maybe. could have a memorable season where belief returns to the hallowed turf of Elland Road.

After confirming the signing of Oldham front man Matt Smith, speculation is rife about Brian McDermott's 'verbally agreed' second signing. Names are being tossed about with the most likely being Noel Hunt; McDermott is to attend 'good friend' Hunt's upcoming wedding, sparking rumours of a 'wedding present' place at Leeds. However, also at the wedding will undoubtedly be older brother Stephen, who has also been linked in the past day-or-so to the Mcdermott reign, (though YEP's Phil Hay today announced on twitter these rumours were wide of the mark [along with recently released Sunderland centre back Matthew Kilgallon]).
Reece Wabara is another popular name that has raised it's head recently; the young RB has earned a lot of admirers at such a young age (21) whilst in the blue half of Manchester, however hasn't been able to break into their first team (the fact he's not worth £30million probably the key reason), in turn, maybe some truth in this rumour (though if so, possible question marks over Sam Byram's future at Leeds?).
Matt Mills is another one that doesn't seem to be going away very quick, and the once £5million centre back could be available for as little as £750,000 from Bolton, as ex-Leeds forward Dougie Freedman looks to build his own promotion battling squad at the Reebok.
Finally, a relatively new (and if true exciting) rumour; Gary Mackay-Steven's name seems to be popping up on rumour sites across the web recently, and the Dundee Utd winger looks like he may be set to move to England, with competition for his signature set to be high. Personally I believe he would fit in well due to our current lack of both skill and pace, something the 22 year old has in abundance. However, whether Leeds United could meet Dundee Utd's valuation, or fight off other teams is another question entirely!
Believable32

Good summary.
My only gripe about the Hunt/s coming would be their pace. Good solid, dependable and hard working but both lack pace.

I would welcome this signing. Thought he might be the marquee signing we were supposed to get last season. Think he would be a great addition to our squad.

Ive seen Weiss play quite a few times when he was up here in Glasgow, strong and powerful him and jelavic were a real handful, but has he not recently moved to Italy? can't see him moving again. ? if so though would b a great signing
weve got a few strikers maybe get rid of a couple though?

Heard back from a friend in Jamaica that Beckford now hoping to sort next season out and Leeds clearly on his radar. Matt Smith will supply plenty of ball for him. Beckford and Smith would be a great combination. We have been sadly lacking such a duo since Beckford and Becchio. Despite what is said, McCormack's goal scoring record for Leeds is poor and Beckford is vastly superior. Would love to see Backford back. PS Noel Hunt - a has been with a worse goal scoring record - praying that he does not appear at Elland road
Believable37
Unbelievable27
Ed, When did Beckford declare to play for Jamaica? I knew he was eligible but didn't know he had declared for them until I saw he scored at the weekend! {Ed013's Note - I am sure it was whilst he was at Everton after he was overlooked for England}
Agree0
Disagree1
Matt Smith will not supply plenty of ball for him. Matt Smith is a target man who needs a littleun like McCormack to play off him not someone like Beckford.
Agree0
Disagree0
McCormack - bets player had the club bar none. Constantly played out of position and still comes up with the goods. One of best players in the league for assists last year
Agree1
Disagree0
Are you having a Laugh? Beckford Needed 20 chances for every 1 goal he scored and that was in league 1. mcCormack is twice the player, plus he made it clear last year that he wants to actually play for the club.
Agree0
Disagree1
All your wishful thinking I think. Beckford isn't coming back, neither is Ian Harte, Robbie Keane or Alan Smith.
It looks almost certain that at least one of the Hunt brothers is coming, both these lads are hard working team players and would do us a good job. As far as McCormack is concerned, last season wasn't his best but I reckon that with the right partners next season will prove very fruitful.
Let's have a little less wish listing and a little more rumour because no matter how hard you try Mr McDermott isn't reading, he's a little busy right now plotting next season.
JB
Agree0
Disagree0
Unbelievable, you should b ashamed to call yourself a leeds fan, better midfielders with better passes at leeds would see mccormack scoring plenty, he scores 90% of his chances but the rest of the so called team dnt create chances 4 him simple as that, aka rudy austin who shoots all game instead of passing. beckford was good but he's only on the same level of quality as mccormack and mccormack assists more goals aswell
Agree0
Disagree0
Drop the Beckford crap he couldn't hold a first team position anywhere he's been.
Agree0
Disagree0
Move on move on move on and move on
Agree0
Disagree0
I never understood the negative feelings Leeds fans have for players that moved on to other clubs. All they were doing is looking enhancing their career oppertunities. If Beckford comes back, he represents a real threat to opponents. He is "hungry", and yes, a little greedy, but he still get the job done. The sooner Leeds start recruiting like a premier team, the sooner they will return!
Agree1
Disagree0
Ross upfront for the whole season + half-decent service = 20/25 goals.
Agree0

Bet you £100 beckford does not sign and nobody only saddo's would want him he is a league 1 player?
Agree0

Ross is the best we got at the moment could do hell of a lot worse ross played outa position most games and is a good finisher and loves leeds in mc d we trust our uncle festa ooooooooooo brian mc dermot oooooooooo brian mc dermot MOT
Agree0
Disagree0
Id like beckford and mccormack 2gether but to say beckford is better is pathetic, and shows your not a real leeds fan
Agree0
Disagree0
Noel Hunt probably won't even play upfront, but instead on the wing
Agree0
Disagree0
Don't know what the fuss is about McCormack - his goal scoring for Leeds is poor and his marking is worse. Can blame him for at least 3 clear goals last season when he completely let his marker go and watched a goal being scored. You are right about Austin - terrible shooting and wasting chances. At least when Beckford is on the pitch, we have a chance of scoring and he is exciting to watch. Come on Beckford - couple of quick goals for Leeds in August and we'll be laughing!
Agree0
Disagree1
Beckford scores goals, he might be a s*** player but he can finish, doesn't take a blind person to see, technically mccormack is a better player and we all love him but i'd take a goalscorer over a good footballing striker! That said beckford's injury record seems to be a bit off putting!
Agree0
Disagree0
McCormack was a "senior" player last season and when needed, he did not rise to the occasion and did not inspire confidence. Acknowledge that we have an awful lot of the poor type "Browne" players at Leeds and they did not help him. That said, would love to see Beckford back at ER helping us to achieve promotion. Loved every goal he scored for us!
Agree0
Disagree0
Strikers are not there to defend and beckford has never defended so I dnt understand that 1 atall
Agree0
Disagree0
Strikers if given someone to mark, particularly during set pieces, must mark that player. Saw McCormack not go with his player on two occasions and two goals scored - understand the frustration - but many Leeds players did not mark well - hence many goals poorly conceded. Always like to see one Striker up near half way regardless of defensive duties - Beckford excels when he is in this position. Beckford scored an awful lot of great goals for Leeds - bring him back!
Agree0
Disagree0
Beckford has never defended in his life, quit talking out your arse lol. beckford dnt have anything on mccormack, please plz leeds get rid of rudy greedy austin and get someone who passes as he's 4 me 1 of the main reasons we were poor last season, shoot shoot shoot that's all he did and I wouldn't mind but most of the time it went miles wide. terrible player who, get some more paul greens in please leeds players that pass
Agree0
Disagree1
Beckford won't be coming back, not good enough, over-rated!
Move on!
I really think Smith will work his nads off this season and prove all the doubters wrong, I think he will surprise a few!
Agree0
Disagree0
I have no problems with Austin so long as he's confined to patrolling the area in front of the back four. just, can someone tell him he is NOT Tony Yeboah and those 40 yard punts of his are going nowhere near the net.
That said, it could be worse than we fear. Those spanked balls into row Z behind the opposing goal might actually be Austin's attempts at a delicate chip!
Agree0
Disagree0
Cant beleive leeds fans? beckford not good enough for you and people saying mccormack and smith better? smith scored 11 goals in 40 league one games will be lucky to get more than 5 next season. beckford will score more than mccormack and smith combined
Agree0
Disagree0
Austin is a great ball winner but as 4 his shooting well I dnt need 2 say anything else. I now see why he was so cheap sorry but its true, very greedy
Agree0
Disagree0
Smith scored 11 goals in 40 games and if you did your reserch your see that 75% of the 40 games he was a sub so your point is not valid atall and mccormack has scored more goals than beckford overall and mccormack has always been in the top half of the championship and beckford did well in a league below so your point on that dnt stand :)
