Reports saying premier clubs after peacock Farrell with all the interest around our younger players maybe we should let the U21 team out on Tuesday night.

His contract runs out in the summer.

how did so many end up out of contract and a few at the end of the following year bad management again.

I agree. I can't understand why so many of the young players all have a year or less left on their contracts. Surely if Adam Pearson was still here that would have been addressed.

It's not difficult to understand really, when your business is struggling financially you do everything you can to cut costs, new contracts, longer contracts, higher wages all increase your liabilities. Sometimes your long term strategy has to be sacrificed in order to survive today.

Rather lose him than Huffer.

Nobody said we were having to make sacrifices to survive Stickey. I don't see having the younger players on longer contracts would make us any more vulnerable than having those players secured from the hovering vultures in the Premier league who could take our players for a lot less than they're worth. It makes more sense to me to protect these assets especially when some of the older players like Bellusci and Bianchi have three or four year contracts and are on more money than the young players. Isn't that increasing liabilities?

It's so easy to say we should have these 3 or 4 on longer contracts but what about the other 20 who have not made it, I'm sure given a crystal ball Leeds would have but hind sight is a wonderful thing. When we got all those players in from Italy in Mc first season they were just cheap replacements for all the seniors players who's contracts were up and none were offered a deal even the next season when we did not renew Rudy Austins contract. Cellino has been all about cost cutting but eventually he will have to start looking forward. Clearly this needs addressing quickly and I guess if we get a few bob for Byram it will go on increased deals for our younger players .

Fair enough Stickey but we don't need a crystal ball to see that Cook is a future England player - all he was offered was a one year extension. I agree with what you've said but that one doesn't make sense to me at all.

All you can think there is that if they offered him 4 years he'd say no, however perhaps he would sign for another year or two. It's a game of poker between Cellino and Cooks agent, we want him on a contract, his agent wants to get him away cheaply thus bigger pay day for agent and client.
