Leeds United have had a few questionable value for money signings recently and in the past
But there have been many, many great value for money players recruited by Leeds United over the decades
Some of my faves . there are many more
1.Johnny Giles £33K what an immense player so instrumental in our success )
2) Allan Sniffer Clarke £165K quite a lot at the time but boy did he repay this fee and so much more with his goals
3 ) Gordon Strachan £250K an absolute bargain in late 1980s the key to our success in Wilko era
4) The Chief Lucas Radebe another absolute bargain in 1994 ( I think ) for £250K
5) Lee Bowyer. what a player . bargain £1.5 million
6) Mark Viduka . £6 million very well spent
7) Pablo Hernandez. the best free transfer in the history of Leeds United.

It's hard to see what value they actually were without more context around the prices. We're they priced highly, average or low for that period of history? All great players but value more difficult to see. Of course as a freebie Pablo was also terrific value for the return we got from him.

Gary Mac was a legendary player for us and at amazing value. Others in same category Mel Sterland, Tony Dorigo, Lee Chapman and Rod Wallace.

Sterland was 1 of my idols Blanco, solid as fark . what a team he played in ❤️.

Alf . Sniffer and Viduka (2 of my favourites) fees were fairly considerable for late 60s and early 2000 respectively. but both were awesome for Leeds United
Arguably aside from the free transfer of Pablo . Strachan possibly just about edges it for me as best ever value Leeds United player for positive winning contributions on pitch

Bobby Collins a free I believe? Never saw him play but apparently as good as Bremner?
For me it has to be Giles as we got him for next to nothing from them lot.
Viduka a great shout at 6 mill.
Ferdinand too.
Pablo obviously.
Bridges could have been world class but for injuries.
Won’t mention Cantona.
Trying to think of my all time favourite buys but it’s home grown players who spring to mind.
My man Sheridan, Sellars, Woodgate, Speed. Batty, Smith, Kewell.
Something about a youth team player stepping up which beats any money signing any day of the week.

Yes Corkster ha if you are doing a WORST ever list .
Mr Peter Barnes a useful winger when he was at Citeh but was very disappointingly gash and a very expensive record signing at Leeds United . we already had good wingers in Graham and Harris. it was goalscoring strikers that we needed.

Collins a very good player for sure
Pretty sure Collins cost Leeds a transfer fee (not a free transfer)
