A game that may be described as “must win” today, although I don’t believe that’s the case with half a season to go think it is as Phil Hay described, a “critical game” for JM.
We’ve had a couple of these fixtures lately, had we beat Villa we’re looking at our games in hand to take us to that 9,10,11th area and everything kicks on from there.
We were the better team but lost all the same and I still maintain (Struicks obvious errors aside) Emery has more nous than JM as he showed again yesterday at Southampton in grinding out another 1-0 win now they’re in a very different position but haven’t played (attacking wise) as well as us these last few weeks.
That being said, yet another USA coach joining the team, says to me that they intend to see this season through with Jesse no matter what, the dollar having the loudest say me thinks.
Nice guy, but not a top coach for me, and we desperately need momentum to carry us away from danger, especially with our current defensive failings.
So definitely a critical game for me, many tougher fixtures to follow this one and whilst we all feel we’re able to at least score now, holding tight for 90plus minutes is beyond us currently, but just maybe, a bit of momentum, and confidence, will improve us in every area.
But for me it’s critical we win today, if I hadn’t mentioned it.
