Does anyone know the situation with costa and Poveda? I assume they are back at the club after their loans but not in the Australia squad .

Yes, they’re both back at the Club. Poveda was among the players who returned to Thorp Arch for the first week of preseason, with Costa being among the internationals who returned the following week. Those not on Oz are continuing to train at Thorp Arch, and presumably those two and other senior pros will be made available for loan, or potentially for permanent transfer. I was surprised Bate didn’t go to Oz, but perhaps he’s asked to be allowed to go out on loan.

Clue, Bates a very good player it’s a shame MB and now JM don’t see him in the squad I do hope we don’t sale him on .

He does seem to be overlooked, with Archie gray seeming to be ahead of him as well as Klich, foreshaw
and roca, adams, Aaronson coming in it seems it would be better for him to be loaned out perhaps.

Saw Bate a fair bit in EPL2 he never dominated midfield ; not good enough.

Bate is apparently definitely going out on loan. I guess the idea may be that he gets a lot of game time elsewhere this season with a view to him replacing Forshaw or Klich next season.
Baz, Bate was playing with an ever changing line up in our u23s last season, against far more settled sides. It wouldn’t therefore be surprising if Bate’s oppo sometimes looked more assured in their controlling of the game, as they had well developed partnerships/ understanding with their teammates.
Chelsea didn’t want Bate to leave, and I feel their staff may be better judges of a player’s ability and potential than either of us.

Yes Clu I recall that Chelsea didn't want Bate to leave so they seem to rate him. Hopefully he progresses more than he did last season.
